Wife graduated with her masters from Butler so according to the student loan payments this is allowed lol I seriously doubt that would ever happen though could see him doing something like what Curry is doing for Davison and willing to be like an advisor type role with a commitment financially to NIL

great points, I know McCollum developed quite the little fan club here , but he was always a fall back option. IU was always going to go after a more experienced possibly sitting P4 Head Coach if it could. Even if he wasn't choice 1, 2 , or 3 I think this is a solid hire. I agree not a HR or Grand Slam. ( I'm sure the insiders will have their stories as to what fell apart or how it did with our supposed Big Name) 20 + wins EVERY YEAR for 6 years at Drake (I get the 30 is impressive for McCollum BUT he's gotta do it with a roster rebuild before I would be sold and probably will) Got WVU to the tourney in year 1 (They got screwed period UNC was Nepotism and you won't change my mind.) The DeVries part that excites me the most would be his ability to bring a solid roster over (Tucker and Small?), maybe keep 1 or 2 IU pieces and fit a couple of more portal pieces I think he could put together a really solid roster year 1 I'm surprised he was so interested in IU, again I know he makes his own choices but having Kory Bennett and Tom Ostrom on your staff can't imagine he heard good things about IU and its AD. Thought it was leverage but maybe he really wants out to WVU and Iowa NIL really sucks that much

That would suggest the opposite IMO. You can always withdraw your name after a coach is hired and you meet with him you'll be on campus through April into May. Unless its a big time coach you know you'll want to play for plus the uptick in NIL from hiring said Big Time coach ?

I was ready to completely dismiss the idea of "Mystery candidate" and settle on DeVries, McCollum, or someone of similar nature until yesterday when we had 0 guys enter the portal. Thought that was really interesting especially considering Monday and Tuesdays would be days in which assistants from programs would have some time to pick up the phone and call guys like Malik or MM who would be pretty highly sought after in the portal. If those 2 especially but more Malik doesn't enter the portal today? Then well that might be Big Time because he not not at least testing for Ben McCollum or DeVries . IMO
