Tipton is a national rabby . Plugged in for recruiting I doubt he’s got much coaching search intel

How dare interject logic into the situation ! BAN HIM !!!
-
I mean yes we all know the only person IU would ever pay 6 years 66 million too with 7 million in NIL. Question though, lets say the numbers are real would you be happy with. Bruce Pearl or Nate Oats at that price tag? or is there another one? I think that's to steep for Scott Drew personally.
-
I mean he won the Horizon regular season title once 7 years but lost in the conference tourney. He will likely make it at Utah State but I feel like Utah State is the Dayton of the west everyone wins there. Previous HCs Smith - just fired after going to Utah Odom - left there to go to VCU Sprinkle - Now in the toilet of the Big Ten at Washington. But after yesterday / this morning honestly apathy as set in at this point any mid-major guy is a flip of a coin. We will either be set for 20 years or right back here begging for fake Stevens rumors in 3-4 so Welcome to Bloomington *insert mid-major coach here* !!!!
-
is it true a Drake fan hopped on the spaces last night and talked about how McCollum reads fans social media post about his coaching in games and says things in press conferences about it ?
-
His 08-09 Pitt team with DeJuan Blair was so much fun to watch. I really thought they were gonna win a National Title. Shocked when they were upset by Nova in the E8
-
Hey if we hire Schertz Ryan Conwell might leave Xavier and transfer back home like he should of this year (but instead we get Kannan "chuck a shot right off the bench" Carlyle." ) Gosh I can't wait till the day Yassir Rosemond and his "pipeline of southern talent" leaves Bloomington and never comes back.
-
Watch it be someone like Few or Self if he gets ran out of Kansas. Restores us to national prominence goes to 1-2 final fours over 4-5 years then Stevens little coward a** comes worming out of his hole in Mass. and professes his enduring love for IU and then takes the job after someone else does the hard work ! and of course I'd be so thrilled I'm just mad............... damn this coaching search stuff is BRUTAL
-
I agree whole heartily with you! And I see your side of things for sure. I want Woodson gone as much as everything else. Just the eternal pessimist in me at this point could see the waters getting even more muddied and crazier things have happened and IU basketball just seems so freaking cursed from the basketball gods! LOL
-
Like it or not Woodson has important friends more than just QB like it or not . Scott made the move when he needed to make the move at a time when it looked like things would implode to minimize risk / damage I don't fault him for that ! Well guess what? They didn't implode Beat MSU on the road, Smoked Purdue at home, and was a 35 foot heave away from a west coast sweep and another quad 1 road win. I know these are big IFs but if he wins 2 games in Indy this week and makes it passed the the first round of the NCAA tourney? the 3 days later Dolson is gonna trot out Brownell or McCollum depending on how Clemson or Drakes seasons ends? I think Scott Dolson is gonna be a VERY NERVOUS man for the next 365 days.
-
This is true and what gives me a little hope. I keep circling back to where this whole thing started. Certainly Woodson still have his friends in the highest of places within the University and donors. Scott has made it clear going back to last year he was ready to move on, I know he's got the Cig hire in this back pocket BUT I just don't see how he's able to sell pushing out a program legend to hire McCollum or Brownell? or Scott being willing to take THAT big of risk Again I think any candidate that gets hired is gonna get 2 years MAX to show they can raise the floor of the program above what Woodson has (most likely 3 tourney in 4 years) there will be no honeymoon period. If your not winning 20 + games per year by year 2 people are gonna not only come for coach X but Scott as well. Worried even in NIL and Transfer portal era we could revert back to post Sampson era basketball if this doesn't work
-
FWIW Rajohns finally posted Hotboard 5.0 1) McCollum 2) Brownell McDermott and Collins are next but basically seems down to those 2.
-
Well BUMP only one thing left to discuss as it pertains to Brad Stevens. What was the "reason" behind the No this go around ?
-
Took a very strong anti-McCollum stance for the better part of the afternoon yesterday BUT do want to make it clear there is no candidate I am more against than Brownell (yes that would apply to year 5 of Mike Woodson). I would take the gamble on McCollum over Brownell everyday of the week and twice on Tuesday. Brownell is the perfect candidate to represents the vicious cycle of mediocrity and inconsistency of Indiana basketball the last decade. I know Chris said this was a joke. I'm sure Clemson and Brownell are focused on ACC tourney prep. But his still being floated out there makes me feel like Jack Nicholson in the Departed https://youtu.be/WDTRyjMnDOk?si=CXYjy39pBFhKsrcb

Wanting to win is a given fit HS recruits the original question which would influence a recruit more ? D2 HC wins and title or Power conference assistant wins , titles , coaching with the greatest college football coach in the history of the game and having recruited and coached future NFL draft picks and Hall of famers on TOP of being a successful title winning D2 HC . Again The Cig and McCollum comparison isn’t even apples to oranges. it’s a beautiful day finally kids are about to be home from school you can pick some else to argue with till tomorrow about 7:30 AM see you then !
-
kind of a rhetorical statement, You can choose to believe me or not but I coach HS kids its most definitely the latter
-
This is another thing I don't understand you think the talent needed to compete at a high level in the Big ten cares about how many D2 titles this dude won ? And when it comes to Cig we act like he had NO Power Conference experience LOL do you think he spends times talking to recruits about his time at IUP or Elon. Or his time at NC State coaching Phillip Rivers and Russell Wilson or His time at Alabama under Saban how he recruited Mark Ingram and Julio Jones. You think recruits that come to his office see displayed his Bama title rings or his IUP conference title rings ? LOL
-
I will admit I like Brownell literally last to me it just screams to continue the cycle of mediocracy of IU the last decade. I wouldn't be thrilled about Cronin but he does raise the floor of then program. Collins intrigues me because NW is HARD to win at and he's proven he can find good underrated recruits in the State of Indiana . I put McDermott in the same category as Cronin, does he hang a banner ? Probably not but do we win 20 + games every year and compete for Big Ten title/get to tourney every year and see where the chips fall ? Most years yes. As far as mid majors coaches the only one that really peaks any interest in me is Ryan Odom. He's on the verge of taking 3 different Mid-Major Programs to the NCAA Tournament 2 of them (VCU and Utah State) are in much more difficult conferences than the Mo Valley. But again too many unknowns don't know if he can sustain success over a period of time doesn't seem to hang out places very long, everyone wins at Utah State (Smith , Odom, Sprinkle, Now Calhoun), and outside of Utah State seems to be an East Coast guy.

We have all earned the right to stay Skeptical BUT this does put a smile on my face. Also the amount of X burner accounts I will create to spew profanity laced Sh** talk directed at Jeff Goodman and other national media pundits the moment Brad Stevens to IU announced will know no bounds !
-
and finally you and I agree sir ! haha but yes 100 percent. I would argue that a Stevens, May, Drew hire would need to win 22+ in year 1 and at least 5th-6th or higher in the Big Ten to justify the Money that would be spent in NIL and Coaching Salary. Beard would have the shortest leash hell that guy might have win the Big Ten in year 1 to keep people from running him out of town.
-
Agree "Grow into the job?" that doesn't exists is todays college hoops atmosphere. If he does get the job he will have a VERY low buyout and for a reason he's gotta win 20+ games in year 1 or 2 . If not where back here in 2027.
-
My original point was that all of those staffs would only need a weeks worth of film (A couple of games) to find a way to shut down wonder boys unique and revolutionary offense that would apparently even make James Naismith blush.

I mean .500 that's better than Archie but pretty low bar.
