People will have been saying this well over a month by the time the hire is announced. That'll make for some awkward conversations if the hire is a Brownell type coach.

Exactly. The point is to be proactive and to hire these guys before somebody else does. Not let somebody else take a chance on him, he wins big and gets comfortable, and by then he won't want to leave while we're floundering with whatever mediocre coach we decided to hire instead.
