I think our fan base can be the best thing for IU and the worst thing as well. Nationally our fan base is a joke because of our unrealistic expectations. Everyone blames the coaches, AD's, the BOT and the president of IU for the basketball program failures. We have changed all of these positions 4 or 5 times but it hasn't changed a thing. So I looked up Pearl's first 4 years at every stop UWM 16-13 24-8 20-11 26-6 UT 22-8 24-11 31-5 21-13 Auburn 15-20 11-20 18-14 26-8 So to me it shows it takes him a few years to get the program turned around. I guarantee it that if he came to IU and put the first 3 years at Auburn record here at IU you would be calling for his head.

Painter wasn't on the staff at Purdue when they brought him in as coach on waiting. He left S. Illinois to go to Purdue for a year until Keady retired. He mainly concentrated on recruiting groups r that year.

I look at a coach like Rick Carlisle and how he has changed his coaching philosophy over the years. When he first was a HC he was very rigid and had to call every play on each possession. He was a slow pace coach and was all about defense. Today his team plays the fastest pace and he pretty much let the players play and not call a lot of the plays. I can never understand how a coach can be so stubborn and aren't willing to change from things that are not working.

I know there had to be some but I don't remember players getting techs under RMK. I don't remember one ever getting ejected from the game. I know most of our ejections and techs come from flagrant fouls and with reviews it is easier to get rejected

Look at Kansas St last year when they had 1 player in their roster in May. They ended up going to the elite 8 I believe. There is very little program building a program any longer with the portal and guys being one and done
