IUBB vs Purdue - Tuesday, 01.16.24 @ 7:00

IU starts Fr PG, SF and SO PF, C. That's young and there's an outside chance that all 4 players return. Ware and Reneau with a year of dedicated S&C will be the best front court in the B1G next year (given Edey finally leaves after a decade). Cupps will not be 175lb again next year and the experience he is getting now, in large part thanks to X, which will prove to be valuable. MgTaco is finding a groove and getting better defensively, more aggressive w/ drives offensively, and his shooting is really admirable. Finally, we have a shooter (one of the best HS shooters) coming in. I don't want to hypothetically add Queen, but if he's added then talented depth is there. So, what do we need in the portal? A grad PG, a notable SG. Grad PG, (insert) SG, Mgbako (So), Reneau (Jr), Ware (Jr) Bench: Mcneeley (5* Fr), Cupps (So), Gunn (Jr), Sparks (Sr), Newton (So) I don't know about Trey's eligibility, but if he's back that's probably a great thing for IUBB. In that team, without knowing the 2 G transfers, we have potentially 4 future NBA guys. The #1 priority has to be landing 2 guards who can play, shoot above 35%, and have experience. Sometimes losing guys is as big of a net positive as gaining. Hate to say this about my (former) favorite player but IU is in a much better position without him. Losing Walker isn't impactful and looking for Banks to transfer is not a game changer either. I'm impatient as I'm sure all of you are but the chances for a Top 10 next year is very real. Unfortunately, anything short of S16 and a top 2 finish in the conference next year will end Woody's tenure at IU - or at least my support for him. So there's your sunshine, the only albeit to this is that Dusty May gets to another S16 - if so IU administration has to pull the trigger regardless of sentiment and allegiance toward Woodson. IU is 5 seasons of mediocrity away from losing all brand interest imo. Great news for Woodson, there is mid major guards who are phenomenal and would love to play for IU and it's $$. Could name 5 off get. -

It’s just not fun to watch my favorite team play and prepare like losers and it makes me very angry -

There is a guard from Baylor I just saw that went into the portal. Know nothing about him, but the portal will be chalk full of players and IU has two major selling points: 1) Playing time and shots are plentifully available on our roster 2) We can give you a boat load of $ to come here. I sort of feel bad for being so emotionally charged in my posts the last few days. There are flaws and things I currently dislike, but many of my gripes can be solved in the off-season with the addition of two guards. 2-2 on tourneys under Woody, whereas Pearl was 0-3 to start at Auburn so right now I'm reverting my call for firing until the finish of next season. Benefit of the doubt is now being given to Woody from me personally. My former favorite player, XJ, has to turn it around - hopefully this is a wake up call.

If If's were fifths, we'd all be drunk. Listen I'm with you on gripes about how everything has gone, but you have to be a special type of hater to discredit being 2-0 for tourney appearances on account of he had a good player. Recruiting, retaining, and improving an All American is a positive sign from a coach. With your own argument, should we write off Cal without his All Americans: Tshiebwe, Quickley, Washington, Fox, Murray, Ulis, Towns, Cauley-Stein, Randle, Kidd Gilchrist, Davis, Jones, Wall, Cousins, Meeks Woodson did add quite a few notable players to the roster in his first two years: Kopp, JHS, X, Stewart, Bates, and Durr while retaining TJD, Race, Gallo. The retainment of players to me is the same as recruiting new guys. I understand the displeasure with Woodson, check my previous posts I've dragged him, but credit given where credit is due. TJD had opportunity and I'm sure offers for every single CBB team in country and Woodson kept him, to the benefit of Woodson, IU, and TJD. That's a win my guy Moral of the story and back to origin of my post: If Bruce went 0-3 on Tourney's he'd be public enemy #1 in Indiana. Potentially wouldn't even get to year 3 imo

Considering Woodson is 2-0 for tourneys and a multitude of people want him fired halfway through the year while sitting at 11-5, yes Bruce would be burnt toast

Is it you? Are you the former teammate? Don't lie Chris007 if that even is your real name!

Scheduling helped IU this year. Jan 20-26 (1 week) off, Feb 11-17 (1 week) off, and Feb 28-March 2nd off (4 days). Maybe that's normal for B1G, but unfamiliar to me as an avid fan. I don't remember IU getting 2 significant breaks in conference before. Edit: My wife is due on 14 Feb so kudos to the schedulers working for me

I don't know who here listens to Fischer pre-game on the radio, but before the Nebraska game last week one of the walk-ons was interviewed and said he dreamed of playing for Purdue growing up and would catch Fischer after Purdue games on the radio while driving him home. So I don't know his name but I never want to see him on the court.

I'm not saying a HC can't have hobbies, enjoy a cigar, drink, or kick back with some buddies from time to time - but when your team (players, assistants) are barely treading water, struggling with basics of basketball (Free throws, blocking out, TO issues due to lack of O gameplan/execution, middling at best scouting reports, and numerous off-court issues) and I see the HC smokin and jokin, talking about tee times, telling press that he won't answer their (or the fans) questions about obvious mistakes.. maybe coach should start logging some 14–16-hour days consecutively (maybe string that into a few weeks w/ no breaks) and worry about cigars/tee times/friends less until April. It's just a slap in the face and makes the feeling of apathy so prevalent. I'm sure the will to win is there w/ Woodson, but is the willing sacrifice of the lush lifestyle to grind it out there? From my perspective this operation is being ran like someone enjoying retirement while collecting a huge check. Retirement well deserved for Woody, but the lifestyle that is being displayed through social media does not particularly give me or any fan confidence that there is desperation to win at a large scale. Are Dan Hurley, Painter, Larranaga, Barnes, eg smoking cigars w/ old buddies and posting on X or are their noses to the grindstone? Which would you rather have? If Woody makes a habit of last night's press conference that dude can KICK ROCKS. A valid question was asked and instead of being transparent and honest, he responded with "I'm not answering your question or the fans." There is no better way to symbolize your nose in the air, "I'm above you" than to respond to a valid Q in that fashion. It made my blood boil, sounded like a career politician.

Not a fan of Indy Star or Doyell but the headline is correct. X bonehead move and Gallo is like the dude off Space Jam that had his abilities taken from him. Two gripes w/ Woodson: 1. More A**es need to meet bench for non-effort (blocking out) - Sparks came in and blocked out Omoruyi like a tutorial video. 2. Line change hockey subs in the B1G especially on the road needs to find its' way out of Woodson's repertoire. To emphasize again: bench meets a**, a** sends signal to brain that this isn't fun, brain sends signal to body to increase effort - it's a winning formula for the brains of 5*, 4*, 3* and no stars. Accountability would be X not starting next game and running him until his balls hurt, what a poor representation of IU culture for our longest tenured player (outside Space Jam Gallo)
