Costing these elites their jobs is laughable. Sure, no matter how much money one makes or is attached they don’t want to lose their jobs without it being their choice. However, none of them are going to end up on the streets or destitute if they took care of their finances during his or her tenure. Yes, pride and feelings hurt but at their choice of retiring or other opportunities await them. Examples are many including Tom Allen is doing well.

I agree, but it's all about putting the team in the best position to compete in March. Talent matters, work ethic matters, drive and focus matter. A lot of things have to fall into place for any kind of run in March, but having high-level talent makes it easier to get there. To compete at the highest level continuously the right couple really high 4 stars or 5 stars is always needed…the right ones for program.

Stevens May Alford Schertz: had successive wins in NITin middle of the pack major conference teams vs SMU, Minnesota, and Utah…then blew lead by in championship game vs Seton Hall. (Compare it to McCollum level of competition) Turned around an Indiana State program (more than just team) in 3 years…not easy! Now, in process of turning around St. Louis. after turning around the Railsplitters. Hire one of these guys and go.

And that’s coaching. His life experience of being I think a number one ranked state tennis player at a very early age against his dad’s wishes to navigate a basketball career leading to his level of success requires talent and intelligence. He has a hunger for competitiveness that I think would carry over into an opportunity. His personality skills would be compatible to IU fan base.

In addition he is a people person. He is smart and interesting when he talks.

And after Indiana State Josh Schertz in year one under the radar…St Louis 2024-2025 18 wins 13 losses (while dealing with a couple player injuries) after St Louis basketball 2023-2024 season 13 wins 20 losses.

1. Brad Stevens 2. Dusty May 3. Josh Schertz

Unless the ghost of Tony Hinkle has been hired just go ahead and hire this guy. He gives a good interview.

Yea rah go get em Dr. Pam Whitten. She is a very smart woman in all this mess.

If not Stevens or May put Schertz and McCollum in brown paper bag and shake it up and see who falls out first. Hire him. Schertz gave McCollum advice on his move to Drake from division two. It must have been pretty good advice. I like the Schertz story…a tennis star that moved to basketball that was never on a basketball team at 5’6.” I like Schertz. Highly engaged people person.

Schertz is a humble but high level people person and a smart popular 21st century style of play that given the NIL he would put a team together to what IU fans are looking for. Just need to foresee it. Unrelated: T. Moren was hired from Indiana State
-
I set 50 to 1 odds on Josh Schertz.

Saturday, IU men’s basketball won a home game against a very average Ohio State basketball team with a very average Ohio State coach. That’s it. Take away high paying coaching salaries. Take away $6,000,000 NIL…how much do players and coaches really care? Without the NIL most of the players would not even be at IU. In addition to wins…that kind of ridiculousness in that kind of money coaches and players should be vested in both the university and community in major ways and not just by fly by the seat of your pants but a continuous year to year culture of positive involvement.

T. Moren is off limits.
