I'm not going to get into a back and forth about someone's character based on one comment from a coach whose comments don't align with his actions, but might as well share the play in question. Starts at 4:33
-
I hear you, but I wouldn't necessarily shut the door on a talented kid that plays with passion because of an off-the-cuff comment from a coach that hasn't coached a winning team in 6 years. He was still playing 30mpg and had a 30% usage rate (1st in ACC). Capels actions don't match his words in this instance. Woody needs to do some vetting here to be fair, but more evidence points to Johnson being a big positive to this team than the opposite.

I take it you weren't a Will Sheehey fan? Different strokes I guess. I miss our guys having that kind of fire. Sure you might get burned here and there, but it's better than the alternative.

One of the responses to a recent Jeff Goodman tweet mentioned Kenya Hunter was close with Xavier Johnson. He would certainly bring a dimension in the backcourt we haven't had in a while.

Of all the wings mentioned so far, this guy intrigues me the most. Seems like the poster boy for what Woody will want. Great size and length at 6'7", premier athleticism vertically and side to side, can shoot, rebound, and handle the ball. He was even running the break off rebounds in some of the videos I saw. From Mississippi though so no idea what he's looking for.

It's like 20 minutes longer to Nashville.

Yes. Race is up there with Armaan for me. He's one shooting coach away from being an All-B10 player in a 4-1 offense.

A thought that has probably been mentioned but also hit me this morning. With the impending opportunity for players to start getting paid for their likeness, I'm wondering if the Associate AD role for Matta will be heavily involved in helping to find these opportunities. I would think that is a pretty appealing recruiting pitch for recruits knowing you have a HOF Coach whose purpose is to start making you as much money as quickly as possible in college.

Weren't there whispers of the athletic department under Glass influencing which players Archie went after in recruiting? Does no one find it odd they are reportedly doing the same thing now with Smith when we don't have a coach? I like Braden Smith a lot, but it should 100% be up to the next coach whether or not he's our "first priority" -
That is wild. Someone give his coach a blank check.

Also, the entire B10 has coached circles around Archie Miller the past 4 years (except maybe Fran), so that's not exactly a standard I would be basing my next hire off of. -
The coaches still in the tourney are why I am not worried a bit about this search. I'm going to continue to anchor on the idea that Dolson was being completely transparent in his press conference. That means we are targeting candidates that will move the program moving into the future and be attractive to recruits. With this in mind, 3 of your best candidates are still coaching. Take a hard run at each of Drew, Musselman, and Oats and take the first one that bites. Any of them would be successful in my opinion.

Can we get back to having fun with this process and stop sucking the air out of the room? Some posters here: -
Doyle joining this circus act is hilarious and so predictable. Talk about delusions of grandeur. "I am the authority." This clown get paid for this nonsense?

The taunting from Goodman and Parrish is the most pathetic thing I've seen the past 2 weeks. What a sad existence. -

No one knows anything is what is going on. All these reporters are throwing darts at a board. No downside if they're wrong 10 times in a row. If they guess one right, they can claim they broke the news. -

I'm more surprised if a player at a school going through a coaching change isn't in the transfer portal. You have a one-time opportunity to make a change without repercussion and this allows players to take a coaching change into their own hands instead of relying on the University to make a good decision for their future. -

There's a reason half this thread is full of memes and BFS posts. It's not that serious, folks. Pretty sure the overwhelming majority of people in this thread realize what a long shot this is. -
I feel uncomfortable for anyone sitting in the room for that. That's some fist level pep talk.

How much, if at all, did Archie play into this? Was there feedback there that influenced the decision?

Sometimes are right? Is that a hint!?
