Those weren't questions on his job status. They were questions on his (bad) coaching decisions.
-
Yes, wins are what fans care about. It's also what makes differentiates coaches so it's an attribute of a good coach.
-
Actually winning isn't an attribute of a good coach? A coach could build a roster that looks good on paper through a large amount of NIL and still not win as much as he should. In fact, that is likely what IU will see next season. A good coach gets the team to play better than the sum of its parts. That isn't Woodson since none of his teams so far have even played as good as the sum of their parts. Woodson's X's and O's are from the '90s and there have been multiple embarrassing events under his "leadership."
-
At least he wasn't given an extension when he received the raise for just making it into the tournament and winning 1 whole game there with TJD and JHS. If it's true that Dolson had his hands tied (which I kind of doubt), he should still have the power to not extend Woodson so we're looking at 3 or less years remaining with him as the coach.
-
I don't know why anyone wouldn't believe this after Woodson's senior day speech.
-
I find the HH guys kind of annoying but I'm otherwise indifferent towards them so them losing access doesn't bother me. What does bother me is arrogance and thin skin shown by the head coach who hasn't done anything to justify that arrogance. The more I see of him, the less I like him. I expect more of the same excuses when this team underperforms its talent level.

This is one of the few things the NCAA has actually been consistent with. I'm pretty sure they've already rejected a few of these this offseason and no reason to think anything will change on their stance before next offseason.

(2025) PG Chance Mallory to Virginia - Maybe Not?

He's 5' 9". I'm ok with not making the cut. -
What would be their incentive for not going public or the deterrent to keep them from doing so? They're already cut off from the program from the way it sounds. I doubt Dolson can get that access back so he's left with a deterrent. Cut them off from other programs? They'd just go public with that, too, and show that the IU admin is hurting NIL efforts. That wouldn't be a good look and it would make the IU admin look worse than Woodson.

https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/woodson-says-illinois-transfer-luke-goode-has-shown-he-can-make-shots-this-summer/ Making shots in the summer hasn't been an issue, it's been making them during games which has. IU has had plenty of off-season snipers the past few years who couldn't make them when they counted. That said, he's been able to make them during games in the past so he should be able to at IU as well. The bigger question is will the volume be enough to really matter?
-
This was predicted to be the case by many people if IU ever hired a former player. Our fears have come true. It was usually thought to be a different former player who would get hired then underperform but not get fired while being very arrogant about it. Same result with Woodson though.
-
Why would that happen? Woodson hasn't gotten better at coaching the past few weeks.

2025 General Recruiting Thread (BBall)
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
That be quite the class. Just like the Fland/Queen/McNeeley class people thought we were going to get. So far this staff has been much better with the short recruitments than the long ones so I guess we'll see if they get that figured out. It seems that IU is already losing traction with Sisley in the view of message boards. It wasn't too long ago that he was considered close to a lock, now not so much. -

Capobianco won the 3m springboard so IU went 1-2 in that event between him and Tyler. I looked at the results and saw that Henninger finished 3rd so IU actually went 1-2-3. Awesome. https://swimswam.com/capobianco-wins-mens-3-meter-schnell-claims-womens-10-meter-at-u-s-diving-trials/ -

Carson Tyler also qualified in the springboard. The first US diver since 2000 to qualify in both individual events. Right now Pieroni is the only IU swimmer who qualified but might not make the team. They've filled 24 of the 26 spots with 1 event to go. There is a good chance that 1 or both spots in that event will go to someone already in the team so he'll probably make it. Edit: Pieroni gets the 26th (last) spot on the team so he's a 3 time Olympian. -

Carson Tyler won 10m platform diving so he's going to Paris. -

Parratto qualifies for her 3rd Olympics. Something interesting in the article which I didn't know was that IU has had a fiber in every Olympics since '64. Impressive. https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2024/6/18/parratto-punches-ticket-to-paris-third-olympics?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1kiEAePFpfQ6eby-z4M0a1VGPC0E4PBn7X_NzmxIlPIoM78gOHXMup8DY_aem_ZmFrZWR1bW15MTZieXRlcw -

Matheny finished 2nd in the 200 breast so he'll likely be going to Paris. -

2024 (F) Kanon Catchings and Whatever

Loyer excels at having a punchable face. Easily top 5 in that. I'd personally rather have Catchings on my team than Loyer. -

King wins the 100 breast to secure her spot on her 3rd Olympic team. Peplowski finished 5th and Pieroni 6th in the 200 free to probably make the team. -

Matheny just misses a chance at the Olympics with a 3rd place finish. 0.07 seconds behind 2nd and 0.15 seconds from 1st. A better LCM swimmer means he probably needs to work on his turns and underwaters a bit to really improve in SCY. Other IU qualifiers: King - 1 in the 100 breast finals, Pieroni - 5 in the 200 free finals, Peplowski - 7 in the 200 free finals For those that don't follow swimming too much, Pieroni and Peplowski can (likely) make the Olympics team by just finishing in the top 6 of the 200 free instead of top 2 as for most events. This is because of the 800m relay. Off topic from the meet: This meet so far just makes my thought that much stronger that if IU did a better job of recruiting the state of Indiana, they'd be competing for NCAA championships every year. Carmel especially, but there are several other strong swim programs which produce some great swimmers. I've often wondered why IU doesn't land those swimmers. Does Looze not have good relationships with the coaches? -

Matheny is the #2 seed in the 100 breast going into the finals tonight but it will be a very tight race. Only 0.44 seconds separates the 1st and 8th seeds. Cody Miller missed the final. -

An ad disguised as an article but it is about Anna Peplowski. I didn't realize she has the current #2 time in the US for the 200 free. Sounds like she has a good chance at going to Paris. https://swimswam.com/anna-peplowski-watch-out-world-this-amazing-young-talent-is-on-a-mission/
