I know they don't make unilateral decision on who to recruit but do the lead recruiters often identify and recommend the players they recruit? I ask because neither of those players has played much. He doesn't seem like a high power recruiter like Murphy but coming from a winning program is nice. Not surprising you're hearing it since he's been on Adragna's list as a possibility.

I just watched the latest CrimsonCast episode and in it Galen mentions a rumor he heard that blew my mind. He said he's heard that Xavier Booker is getting a couple of million from UCLA. That's crazy if it's true. Maybe IU dodged a bullet if Cronin thinks Booker is worth anywhere close to $2M.

He wasn't a Murphy recruit, Bryan Hodgson was the recruiter according to 247. IU should go after him whether or not Murphy is coming to IU if CDD wants him. Maybe Murphy could give him a nudge in IU's direction even if he stays at Alabama since he's supposedly close with CDD.

Also, CDD wouldn't be a very good dad to teach his son he should undersell himself and not get paid what he's worth while also hurting his son's lifetime earnings in a huge way. That would be irresponsible of him in my eyes.

I would say IU hasn't done much since Knight to actually get a good coach. Davis - no searching hire, just retained the interim Sampson - actually ended up with a good coach but no real coaching search Crean - on sanctions and facing a total rebuild after Sampson Miller - not much of a coaching search, settled for a mid-major who Glass seemed to have already targeted Woodson - again, no coaching search. Forced on IU by Buckner For this hire, there was actually a coaching search but things had changed quite a bit since Knight was let go. Even other big name schools recently had problems hiring big name coaches. Back in the aughts, a big name coach could've been had if they actually tried. Pitino, for one, openly wanted the job. Only Sampson from the list above has had any success after IU and he was probably the worst hire regardless of his coaching acumen. They've made bad hires and not because of the fans.

Sure, if it got to year 4 or 5 without getting to the second weekend fans would start to get antsy but the point is that isn't the expectation right now. It seems to me that right now the expectation is to get back to making the tournament regularly then build from there.

I remember you emailing Dolson when Miller was coach and posting about it on HSN. Looks like you didn't learn your lesson then. Fans venting a bit of frustration on a message about missing on recruits they wanted and not even having a complete staff isn't toxic. I don't see anyone calling for him to be fired. I don't see anything particularly nasty being said at all. Toxic would be if people were shouting obscenities at him, the staff, and the few players we actually have - I believe none of which are even on campus yet. Nothing like that is happening. Schools like UK win and continue to get great players. Go look at their message boards some time after a loss or anything disappointing happens and compare it to here. Let me know which is more toxic because they get ugly.
