General Coach Candidate News
Evariste Galois replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I don't come here all the time and I don't know anyone personally, but this site is where I come for insights on the future for IU basketball. If it is all made up, some people are freaks at guessing things. -
General Coach Candidate News
Evariste Galois replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
“I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with every day,” Stevens told Goodman. ""But that stuff's crazy. I mean, I love being at Michigan. I love our team. We're fighting like crazy ...:" Dusty May Right now, I do not believe because I do not want to be disappointed, but the quotes are basically the same - and if I recall correctly, Goodman has significant anti-IU bias and we only helped confirm his bias by not making a good hire last time. -
As much as I love Lewis, I am not sure that 2 for 1 makes sense for IU. Maybe 2 in Bloomington and then one in Indianapolis or something.

Might be worth kicking the tires then. I do not think CMD has a grudge.

Is there interest? Would be pretty funny to leave his dad's team to go the school that let him go... great story! How good is the Horizon league?
-
+1 the NCAA did everything within their power to avoid this.

How about now?

And FF opponent Nova in the Gavitt games...

What does he know about coaching at a big time program?

If Thad Matta wants and can physically coach again, there is no way he was staying as an assistant AD. If nothing else, he was probably making ~ $500k as an assistant AD and would command at least a few million as a head coach. That is a lot of money to leave on the table.

The funny thing is on the other site is was reported as being from this site

Next assistant coach
Evariste Galois replied to Henryville Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Even if we could have kept Walsh in his current position, if he has earned the assistant coach position it is time to promote. It is always a good idea to reward employees that are getting it done. . -
Next assistant coach

Does this mean all of the assistants are promoted a rung? Or do we still have to worry about Ya? -
Exactly, the fighting over CAM's dismissal is long past.

I am like 40th hand information - but glad I can clear it up for you ;). And yes, I am aware that you are being sarcastic. -
Next assistant coach

The rumors I read have this more focused on not listening to Dane and that he worked better with the other assistants. -
Hunter's coach just left XU... add Damezi and will would only be missing Smith, Durham, and Romeo from 2017 & 2018 classes.

I think OSU lost an assistant a few days ago. I wonder if their board has 23 pages about it... I do understand that this is not just any assistant, but still...

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
Evariste Galois replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Secretly, I was thinking this as well. We definitely need more offensive help than defensive. -
This strikes me as similar to the SEC's early advantage in the NIL game; they have already been doing for awhile.

Big Ten Coaches Likeability
Evariste Galois replied to WayneFleekHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My current rankings of likeable: Leaving Woodson out due to my obvious bias. (1 is most likeable). (PSU) Shrewsbury: comes across as a good guy. I loved his making a trip to PSU "feel like a trip to the dentist" comment. He seems like the perfect coach for PSU. (Minn) Johnson: seems like a good guy. (OSU) Holtmann: I like his post game comments. (NU) Hoiberg: Seems likeable to me. It may be because in the Big Ten Guide to Basketball in the Conference, next to Nebraska it simply says "Mostly harmless". (RU) Pikiell: Seems to know what he is doing. I will probably learn to dislike him more as Rutgers becomes more of a regular threat. (PU) Painter: If he did not coach for Purdue would be much higher on my list. Seems like a straight shooter. (Iowa) McCaffery: post game seems fine - a bit too crazy during games to be higher (NW) Collins: Seems ok - no strong opinion (UI) Underwood: honestly, he seems fine to me. I put him this low because so many seem sure he is terrible. Honestly, I liked his post-game after our win. (UMCP) Willard: Love the guy; JK I do not follow much non-B1G basketball so I only heard of him yesterday. (MSU) Izzo: I do not think he requires too much explanation, but he is one whiney dude (UM) Howard: Was higher pre-contact with assistant. Probably should not be coaching college basketball. (Wisc) Gard: Comes across as a complete jerk to me. With the UM incident, he could have won some sympathy points. But his comments somehow gained Howard some sympathy points. -

No doubt. He was always a little overshadowed by Cheaney, but he was a player. -
Let's just win the next 40 against PU
