Would be interesting to know what the lineups have looked like so far
-
Lineup needs work...
-
On an alley oop, nice
-
Saw that and makes sense -- of course typical for coaches to explore lineups in exhibitions, giving players and units looks to see who and what works. I hope we get a better breakdown from people there (Zach etc) of the makeup of the most used lineups and how they performed.

Mega Superbet player wet his pants...

100% What I think it's clear to state so far is the offensive schemes are showing early, with high volume outside shooting / spreading the floor, use of kickouts (reflected in game highlights clip), a running team - outlet passing and transition D, and importantly, balanced scoring with a team / system that looks to share and move the ball for better looks/shots. The balance with volume outside shooting looks great so far. On the other hand, I don't think much should be read yet into individual players, in two exhibition games. Some guys numbers/percentages are going to drop with more games and competitive level going forward, and others are going to increase, e.g., DeVries. Definite that some players are showing promise -- I'm liking what Ristic has shown in particular so far, especially given his lack of practice time with the team -- but again we're just 2 exhibition games in, so a lot to watch for going forward.

SIAP - highlights:
-
Ristic with 5 assists - 2 TO’s and plus 14 in 24 minutes. That’s a good sign and Wilkerson plus 24 and 7-11 (4-7 arc) in 19 min. Oh I am so looking forward to watching him light it up from the outside at IU
-
100%. I’d also like to know what kind of adjustments DeVries made. This was a striking turnaround from down big to dominant W.
-
Time will tell, but I am pretty confident DeVries will not be a failure. I don’t know how well we’ll be competing in the B1G over the next couple of seasons but I see a guy with a wealth of experience, running a modern offense, already hitting recruiting well with a very solid recruiting assistant staff, what so far looks to be team building chemistry with players who share the ball, and a guy who is both pretty hardcore and demanding by all accounts in practice and engaging publicly. I like what we’re seeing so far, jaded as we are from moronic Mike and catatonic CAM.

@Stuhoois excited about Caitlin Clark
-
Don't have to like her, but if you've seen what they're doing to her in the league it's far, far from normal. It's routine hitting, elbowing, shoving, throwing her to the floor, etc. That's not a big girl pants issue, it's pathetic and ridiculous, but frankly, she's been taking it and playing through it, she hasn't been whining.
-
I never want to hear over the hump again…
-
Well, we had a real live college hoops coach in CAM. But the sh!t show train wreck was in full effect lol. Thank G we finally have a real live modern system running shooting inspired coach with a demonstrated track record of improving DI programs, and with actual personality!
-
32 assists 33 attempted 3’s Pace Spacing The style of play and chemistry is already starting to show. So so much better strategically and skill based than we’ve since Crean’s teams.
-
Pace and shooting
-
Score etc. in these games isn’t really something to watch but schemes, leadership and how they play together is. We’re moving the ball, running actions for outside shooting and letting it fly, we have clear on ball guards, and sounds like floor leadership is already showing. That’s good stuff

(2025) - G Aleksa Ristic to Indiana Portals to Belmont
HoosierHoopster replied to ap2345's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Doubt he plays much if at all in PR given that he just got to IU, but maybe he'll get a little floor time -
I understand the analytics side of assessing things, which of course also depends on how past teams were built. Here, players when interviewed about what they discussed with DeVries and staff when being recruited specifically commented on how they’re looking to get out and run, and DeVries said the same thing in a published interview about the team. And of course we don’t have rim protecting traditional bigs, we have guys who can spread the floor and get out on the break. I’d be really surprised if we’re not a running and gunning team

I have a suspicion he’ll outdo expectations -
I’m very interested in the tempo side. This team — including according to the players themselves— is built to get out and run and gun. I don’t think looking at last year’s WV team is apples to apples. I think the pace will be on the faster end - we’ll see
