  1. Gonna be very disappointed if the plan down the stretch here is for Lamar to go Kobe mode
  2. Martinelli is really not a good match up for him IMO
  3. I'd bet officials get whistle happy and we win by 10+ But I just may be a gamblin fool
  4. The NIL "cap" situation makes for a very interesting portal season. Much more so if we take care of business down the stretch here.
  5. A lot of officials often try to outsmart themselves and not call an obvious charge like that. I don't think officials need to fear DDV per se, but there's no way we shouldn't get that call at home.
  6. My current IUBB hot take is that Jasai Miles could have a great offseason and end up starting on next year's team. We will see how hard he works and how well the staff can develop him.
  7. Does Wilkerson break his Assembly Hall record tonight?
  8. The way the ball sailed over the rim was what made me chuckle. Lol
  9. Great sequence from Miles there - Avoid a TO by coming to the pass, dribbling through traffic and dishing for a Wilkerson 3. Happy he is back in the rotation. Would really help if he can be a contributor next year.
  10. Wilkerson is the most fun IU player to watch since Yogi for me.
  11. Bailey not getting an and 1 over the smallest guy on the court was pure comedy.
  12. Idk, the crowd looks pretty typical to me? Maybe I missed something.
  13. I don't think margin of victory matters much at all tonight for tournament purposes. Just get the W.
  14. Perhaps several portal prospects "expect" $3M... and some will get that much or more. But most of them will probably end up with a significantly smaller number IMO. Don't think a ton of guys will be able to command a figure like that with there being relatively few schools that can accommodate so much for a single player. So many moving parts in the portal and you typically have to pay a premium to sign guys with options. Last cycle, a lot of us commented that the staff seemed very disciplined in sticking to their financial value assessments for players (ex: not landing Conwell or Dix, who visited). Curious how aggressive we are this time around with upping our bid when it's time for best and final $ offers. Not saying that's the right or wrong move, but will be interesting how the staff approaches it.
  15. What is the point you're trying to make? That good players don't want to play for DDV? Genuinely asking for clarification.
  16. UConn doesn't spend as much as some may think and Purdue may have spent roughly as much if not more on this year's roster than we did. I agree with your second blurb entirely. Just pointing out the above to say, basically, there's a threshold you have to hit to be competitive and IU is definitely above the threshold. "Clout" may cause us to lose out on some top guys, but like you said, there are enough talented players in the portal every year that, with our budget, a top 25 team can and should be fielded. I think that's a lot tougher to do with the situation DDV walked into, but with a year under his belt, next season should be better IMO. I wonder how many spots we try to fill/flip. No doubt many lessons learned since he took this job. Excited to see the year 2 roster. Gotta finish strong now though.
  17. The injunction has been denied. Time to update the resume, Charles
  18. I hope Carr has a short list of players he is familiar with from scouting with the Pacers that could be viable at IU. Wonder if he is starting immediately. Hopefully we're already working the "pre-portal" process heavily... Wishcasting big time, but would be so great if he had his eye on a few mid-major guys for a possible 2nd round pick who maybe could improve their stock at a bigger program. Maybe some value there. And of course, tapping into some Euro connections would be nice. Very curious to see how next year's roster shapes up.
  19. Love the fact it's a newly created role (staff identified the need) and we filled it with an NBA guy (good connections). Hopefully this is a shot of adrenaline heading into the portal fully staffed.
  20. I don't know for certain, but I think this role has responsibilities that more closely resemble an NBA GM's. I'd assume he wants to be a GM some day and this job probably is an opportunity for him to say he had more ownership over the acquisition / roster building processes and worked directly with the coaching staff / AD, which would mirror the NBA front office dynamic between the staff and ownership. Imagine at some point he will touch on his motivations in an interview.
  21. Awesome news. Glad to see this.
