The way UM won a national title, so OSU went out and spent upwards of $13M on building the best roster and staff they could possibly find... Seems like Hoosiers can only dream of our administration responding in a similar fashion. PU is at the top of the conference and we are not... and the admin does not care. We may catch lightning in a bottle with the next hire (more likely won't). But it's so disheartening to be a fan of a program/product that you know is being undermined/deprioritized from the top. How are you supposed to feel anything but apathy toward that kind of environment? Yesterday was definitely a low point in my time as a fan... and I've had plenty of lows over the years with IU Basketball. It's just getting tougher to believe better days are ahead.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
Home Jersey replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've seen enough. Normally I'd say that after getting us back to the tournament in back to back years after not having been for four years straight, he could have a pass for an off year. But this year is SO ugly and so full of the same issues we've seen throughout Woody's entire tenure that I've lost all confidence in our ability to actually be competitive with this staff. Sure, we will probably win a few more games here and there. Maybe even an upset or two. I hate to be harsh because I'd have liked Woodson to succeed here, but I honestly don't think the team could do anything else to convince me it'll be worthwhile to have a fourth season with this staff. The fact is, this team never had a chance because of roster construction. And it STILL has enough talent that it should be performing way better than it is. Woody's post game comments are particularly dry and lacking tone. Things are going to get ugly... I hope the admin spares us all the ache and pain after this offseason. Not getting my hopes too high though. All I know is I can't torture myself by watching many more performances like yesterday. -

Can Cignetti get hiring powers to build the basketball staff? -
Yeah, I think this sums up my view pretty perfectly. He looked undersized on the court, had some bad TOs, and athleticism does not seem to be there much. He was fairly forgettable this time out, granted MVA is a tough matchup for anyone. Now, that said... he did show some tenacity and hit a few shots over Cooper Flagg, so if you squint your eyes really hard, you can see the glimpse of potential IMO. Not so much that his offers make a lot of sense to me, though... but, I am not a pro at assessing talent either! I hope he comes along and develops well. LaLu was a bit underwhelming compared to Link/Brewster/MVA today. They play Brewster tomorrow I believe.

Some real crazy drama going on over there, apparently
-
He had a tough game. Tons of family and friends there to support. LaLu had by far the most fan support between them and Link Academy/Brewster/MVA. Not sure I understand his very high ranking but he is obviously talented and had an off night. McNeeley accidentally stepped on him during a loose ball and he had a gash over his eye. Made a few nice shots, but tough night for him. Now... The Link vs. Brewster game was some insane guard play. Jasper Johnson has the purest stroke I've seen in a while. Has a lot of room to grow too. Tre Johnson was a beast. Jalen Shelley also stood out for Link. On the Brewster side, other than Jacobsen and the guard headed to ISU... I really liked what I saw from Dwayne Arisode (Junior), Sebastian Wilkins (Sophomore), and Elijah Crawford (Stanford signee). MVA took LaLu to the woodshed. Saw a ton of good guard play tonight... and, there was an IU scout in the VIP seating area. We chatted for a little bit. He was also spending some time with who I believe was McNeeley's mom. Trying not to get my hopes up too much but man, adding Queen + McNeeley would be awesome for next year. Especially with Reneau taking them under his wing

He got a T for shoving the hell out of Muya on LaLu after Muya fouled him hard. It was hardly a skirmish if you can call it that, and was super quick (some words that would make you blush were exchanged but they both walked away, no punches thrown). Happened right in front of me. Let's just say Derik Queen is NOT someone I would want to make angry, lol. Solano on LaLu didn't do much but he is another big a** kid. I'm sad to report Daniel Jacobsen is going to be a huge pain in our butt in a few years... and was a really nice guy, taking pics and signing autographs for little kids.

Seeing the PEwwww fans on Twitter getting so defensive about everyone acknowledging the way NU was blatantly jobbed makes me chuckle... "Obviously we're going to get fouled more, we play through the post and they play on the perimeter" "If the refs actually called every foul we'd have shot 100 free throws and NU would probably shoot the same amount they did" "Collins was just mad the refs didn't help him enough, he admits fouling is part of his strategy" ...I can't believe people are able to say that without laughing at themselves. 46-8 disparity! That's mind blowing. I guess the insecurity adds up after all those early exits at the hands of double digit seeds with a few capable guards on the roster. It will be sweet to witness their usual March flameout.

Yeah, that was classy. I bet his players love playing for him. Going off like that was mucho deserved after that FT disparity. That's why it was the Big 10 game of the year :) Northwestern played so damn hard. I'm not normally one to say the better team did not win but Purdue was seriously bailed out tonight. Very curious to see where this Northwestern team ends up.
-
This may be the B10 game of the year honestly.
-
Lol. Not a professional lip reader but I believe Collins told the ref he was something like "horse" ....doo-doo... tonight.
-
Chris Collins gets a ton of respect in my book tonight.
-
You've gotta give credit to Northwestern for battling here. Tough team.

"The verticality of Edey really effected Buie on that basket" Uhhh.... you mean the mid-air tackle? Gillis is probably my least favorite PU player ever. Hope he continues getting DUI chants until he's done playing CBB. I've got absolutely zero soft spot for PU lol. It sickens me to see them A) be good B) play 8-5 the entire B10.
-
Purdue looks like they're gonna win but NU is not dead yet. All it took was a +30 FTA differential.
-
Holy cow, has Hummel always been this much of a Purdue homer in his commentary or did that just start this year? I don't remember it being so bad until this year. But I can't stand to listen to him. He's not remotely objective, I don't feel like listening to the Purdue student broadcasters... which is basically what he sounds like
-
These stripes are AWFUL! That should be a 4 point play.
-
Purdue f'ing sucks. Really, you want those .2 seconds so badly? Great in bound play. Perfect look for Buie. Just didn't hit it. 5 more mins of ball.
-
Smart foul by Jones.

Jesus Christ you can't breathe within 3 feet of Zach Edey in a B10 game.
