I'm sure everyone has seen Dan Hurley's clip after a tough loss to Villanova in his second year at UConn, where he said "You better get us now. You better get us now, because it's coming." On McAfee's show before the title game, they played the clip for him and asked how he knew. Hurley makes a comment about sometimes the fans just need to hear something from the Head Coach. Skip to 2:45 in the vid, that full response is worth a listen. This past season could have been handled so differently by the staff... now we've got a deeply fractured fanbase and sucky basketball team... that trajectory is unlikely to change without major play style changes. Confidence in IUBB... interest in following the normal news cycle this offseason... financial and emotional investment in the program, personally, all on the decline, unfortunately. As @WayneFleekHoosier wisely put it the other day... shut up and win. Full Quote: “Number one you’re the coach at UConn and the tradition and history is rich here. The fans, obviously, the expectation is you’re going to be amongst the best. We weren’t very good but we were starting to turn the corner. The culture was coming together, the talent was improving, we started getting pros in the program. You know (chuckles), ya gotta say something to your fan base at that point. Because we weren’t there yet and I think when you’re the coach of a big brand program you gotta have some swagger, some confidence, because people are going to be on your a$$ anyway.”

Yep, sums it up pretty well. Plus... As men... as coaches... putting all blame on the roster and talent... have some pride. You're the head basketball coach at IU (as he loves to remind everyone.. and yes Woody has said we need to upgrade our talent multiple times). Fostering this culture of no accountability and basically "gaslighting" the fan base (program's biggest asset btw)... is more offensive to me than all the losing we did last year. This thing going on with IU burners is weird... the obsession with being right or wrong is odd. As you said... shut up and win.

Also, after watching again, it's clear Hurley was initially speaking to a referee off camera to which Edey responded over his shoulder walking away, and Hurley seems to respond, though we can't see his face as he turns his head toward Edey. Maybe he's a nice kid, maybe he's a smug SOB... Him and his elves got no chips. Ain't gonna get no chips.

The longer that game went on, the bigger UConn's lead would have grown. Loyer is truly horrendous. POTFB. Let's kick their a$$ next season.

Find it so enjoyable watching Turdoo fans pee themselves on Twitter as UConn fans flame their guards and say they're not even D1 level... their fans act so outraged as if they didn't just watch their entire team outside of Edey get totally shut down for 40 minutes. I may replay that title game just for kicks periodically throughout the offseason

Purdue got upset by FDU, St. Peter's (both NJ schools) and their a$$ kicked by UConn, led by a coach from Jersey City. Just sayin... feeling the Jersey pride this AM. Purdue sucks!

I am bias but I think Dan Hurley has a strong case for best CBB coach right now. Curious what they will be like next year, I assume what they are losing this year will be much tougher to replace than last year... but who knows

Fun fact... they fired him when he was an assistant back in 2001. And as a SHU guy, he will never end up at RU so don't worry. Now, if Shaheen ever went elsewhere and Hurley was ready to transition into the cushy semi-retirement phase of his career... that could be a possibility IMO

All is well with the universe. Now I can go into next season peacefully knowing Purdue's best shot in a long time was unsuccessful.

At the UConn vs IU game, there was a play where the ball was being inbounded and Hurley gently touched Mgbako's back, nothing got called though. He needs to be on a leash tonight

Zach Edey is the least impressive player to me, sorry. Don't care how many awards he's won or what his stats are. He's a huge dude with extraordinary touch. That's it. He's not some technically perfect player who deserves to never have a foul called on him. Sooo happy he will be denied tonight
