They did lose to Michigan and while Michigan was rolling. Michigan also beaten a healthy UNC the day before. And we saw them jump from unranked to #4. Gonzaga gets a lot of respect because of the past but if you just watch them, they are good and I think they’d be able to win the Big Ten outright. But Gonzaga just seems to be that good now for whatever reason. Mainly due to bigger programs essentially getting worse because of the amount of talent leaving early. Okay.... so how about Gonzaga winning their last 5 by 44, 25, 50, 23 and 33? In those games they were favored by 15, 19, 20, 13.5 and 22.5. That’s beating who you’re supposed to and then some. That’s beating 5 opponents by a combined 175 points. They are 4-1 against Q1 with 2 Q1 games left and 3 more Q2. Doesn’t help them that UNC ended up sucking though as it’s fell to a Q3 win. Same happened with Tom Allen. Victory after one season when the rest of us want to see consistency. 6-8 wins every year. Bowl game every year. That’s pretty mild. Tough in our situation but mild. As for basketball, Archie will need to put together 3-4 good-great seasons and keep it consistent. We should expect the NCAA tourney every single year. Only reason to be content with an NIT showing is if you’re in North Carolina’s situation. Where the 4 seasons prior you’ve been to the Natty game twice, won one of those and been to the Sweet 16 once. Going 121-32(55-17) over those two years. Winning your conference regular season 3 out of the 4 years and winning the conference tournament once. Why is it so awful to ask and expect that much success? Or as much as Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State or even Arizona? At one point Zona had an 8 year stretch where they won 23+ games and only missed the NCAA tourney once(the year they won 23 games). And going to the Elite 8 three times. A lot of people said Illinois would be worse than us this year. They had a rough start to the season, but Underwood changing his coaching helped this team a ton. It’s honestly a good thing for the Big Ten. Now Indiana needs to win tomorrow to get back into the Top 25 for the first time since the week of January 14th, 2019. You can put in a plan and fundraise. It’ll would be a State thing. Schools and the IHSAA working together. You could probably even get the Pacers to help and maybe even IU, PU and ND. But it needs done. So if it has to be a 5 year plan, then so be it. I just went and watched two schools in one of the poorest counties in the state and both could afford it.
