Again, 7 missed tournaments in 11 years. And after listening to the Hoosier Hysteria Podcast, our athletic department is not well respected in the Big10. You fire him, so that in the event Archie needs to go in 2 years, you have a fairly seasoned AD that can make a great hire. -

Lol I was being sarcastic. But this is what the Athletic Department seriously believes. I think that Fred Glass hasn't ever had an original thought and he just hired "the hottest young coach" without ever doing any serious interviewing. Had he done any sort of research we probably would have ended up with Holtmann. -

Just saw this article. It looks like Cool Dad negotiated a $20.4 million buyout for Archie. https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/08/the-10-highest-paid-ncaa-basketball-coaches.html I'm also seeing Rumors that Bill Self could leave Kansas to go to the NBA and Kansas making Beard an offer he can't refuse. -

We made the NIT in year two of a serious rebuild. That is considered success under this administration, so yes, to them things are great. And why would we change up such a winning last 2 years. -

This is a really impressive and a well thought out response and I agree with what you're saying 100%. I would add that as AD I would also have to have a pulse on what Brad Stevens plans our long term, and if there were any indication that he would return to the college ranks I think you would have to evaluate that into the equation as well. Also Its not that I dislike Archie, but Beard is just that special in my opinion. -

I agree that our Admin is too inept to make a change in the right direction. But lets say in a hypothetical situation you are the AD. Do you pull the trigger today replace Archie with Beard? Assuming Beard says yes. -

He lost (from my count) 6 of his top 7 scorers from an elite 8 trip and GOT BETTER the following year. Finished with a top 4 Defense last year and has the top defense this year. He was an assistant under Knight. Did you see what they did to Michigan last night? They held them to 44 points (16 FIRST HALF POINTS)... Doesn't anyone else remember what that SAME Michigan team did to us at Assembly Hall? Plus he has so much personality with his fireside chats and interviews. If i'm missing something, please point it out to me. Great Coaches like this pop up once every 5 years it seems and he's the best coach that is available for hire since Brad Stevens. -

If I am the AD I’m telling Chris Beard to stay at tech for one more year and then I’m firing Archie after next to get Beard. 4 mil a year. He’s the best coach I’ve seen that’s available since maybe Stevens. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

No shot we'd be able to get him with Fred Glass at the helm. Our AD should know through personal interaction if Archie is the right fit. I firmly believe that after 2 years of interaction he should be able to know if he's the right guy for the job and if Archie is capable of winning multiple national championships. From my perspective, I don't think he's the right fit (but I'm watching from afar). I don't think Glass has ever really sat down and said here are the traits and characteristics of championship coaches. because if he had, he would have fired Crean after year 3. As AD I would think you have to have back channel conversations with Beard. You give Archie one more year and if Beard is still available I think you make the move. Even with a 20-15 record and a win in the NCAA tournament I would still fire Archie in Favor of Beard. -

Honestly, If I were the AD and Chris Beard, who was the associate head coach under Bob Knight at Texas Tech, takes his team to the final four after losing 5 of his 7 top scorers from the team prior, I would fire Archie on the spot maybe and hire Chris Beard. -

That was Ohio State's record this year. I think that 20-15 and a round of 32 exit is the most likely record for next year, Archie's 3rd year. Who knows what Archie's fourth Year holds. But nothing I've seen so far screams "WE ARE HEADED TOWARD A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP". I think in the long run it will be in IU's favor for Archie to have not worked out. I think if Stevens were to ever come back to coaching, I think it would be in 2021-2022 when we would be looking for a coach. If not, it gives us 2 more years to find the right fit. For one I love Chris Beard. Would love to have him. -

Will a 20-15 record with a 8-12 conference record and a loss in the round of 32 change your mind? -

I listened to the podcast and the vibe I got from his comments on Holtmann is that Holtmann wasn't considering the job because he didn't think IU was going to reach out to him. I didn't get the vibe that he was actively saying "no I would never take the IU job". Out of the 3 my preference would be Holtmann, then Archie, and then Mack. -

After feeling disappointed after last night's loss, and then listening to Dan Dakich today. I'm 100% convinced that Fred Glass didn't do enough due diligence with Chris Holtmann and am 100% convinced that we hired the wrong guy. I'm not saying get rid of Archie, I think he should absolutely get 1-2 more years, but I'm just really disappointed in this whole situation. There are three paths Archie's career can shake out at IU. 1. He's successful and wins multiple NCAA championships. 2. Fred Glass doesn't fire him and he gives him 6-9 years. Fred Glass won't fire him to save his own job. 3. McRobbie retires in 2020, which mean Fred Glass is Fired shortly after, and then Archie is fired in 2021-2022. FWIW I think option 3 is the most likely. I don't think Archie will be fired for his record, but because he seems absolute void of any emotions or personality. -

Oh I completely Agree. However, I do think that I would rather have had him for 9 years than Crean.
