Not our best start, but we had a couple shots ring out and missed some free throws and only down 17-14 after first quarter. Their post play is causing us some problems defending to bigs. Moren has gone deeper on the bench than usual playing 7 in the first quarter, so maybe she’s thinking we will need fresh legs in the late game and getting Patberg and Holmes rest early.

Our defense is legit boys. Very impressed. We are tough to score on. -
Layup line observation: I know I’m old and not hip to the latest fashion trends, but what’s with the guys on the squad tucking the candy striped pants into their socks?? That’s how the cool kids are doing it now? It looks like the nerdy guy in my office who rides his bike to work and tucks his pants into his sock to avoid getting them caught in his bike chain. Okay, got that off my chest. Go Hoosiers.

Ali with a rough shooting night to start the season going 0-6 from deep, but she did drop 10 dimes. Maybe the 7 years of college basketball is finally catching up to those old legs on the jump shots. Ha. Not worried. I think we’ll see Cardano-Hilary and Patberg’s performances revert to the mean over the next few games. Good showing for the #8 team in the land. -

Just watching the box score, but if Cardano-Hilary is gonna produce half of these numbers this season we are gonna be really dangerous. Woah. Thought last year she gave good effort but was kind of a weak link in our rotation and forced some shots. Color me pleasantly surprised if she can consistently knock down shots and take some of the outside shooting pressure off of Grace. Still say, as I have for 2-3 years now, depth is going to be an issue. But if Moren can somehow keep fresh legs come March we will be a tough out. -

Obviously a bad outcome. But have to wonder what that game looks like if Tuttle was starting. We had the interception and put the ball at the 10 yard line down 14-0. Tuttle looked pretty comfortable completing 8-15 yard passes accurately and he and Hendershot looked connected. Also Tuttle showed the ability to pick up the 6-8 yards scrambling when our o-lime collapsed the pocket. Our defense really played pretty decent considering. So if we get to 14-7 there. Go into the half. Really could have had a different energy and feel. Love his heart for coming back after injuries that suck. I’ve torn. My ACL. It’s never the same. But Penix’s body and mind aren’t what they need to be anymore and I think it’s time to call a duck a duck. -

Saw that coming. Announcers jinx. Why not go for it down three scores? Tuttle slinging it. You get three there it’s not like you’re offense is gonna score three more times in the 4th to win this game. -

I hate the rule in general. But how is that sack on Tuttle NOT launching yourself into a QB leading with tour helmet? If you have DVR back it up and look at it. And they threw McFadden out of a game for getting pushed into a QB?? -

Everybody asking for Tuttle time is about to get it. Penix is just fragile. That right there is why he doesn’t roll out or scramble much. -

That was uncomfortable to end the half that way. Which do you not have confidence in, your defense to keep them from going 80 yards in 45 seconds, or your offense to be able to do anything with the ball from the 40 with half a minute? Two timeouts and they’re pinned at their own 10. I don’t get it. Either way it tells one side of the ball you don’t trust them not taking the timeouts there. -

We’re not bad, but we’re not as good as we were predicted to be or hoped we would be based on the momentum of the last two years. But if Cindy holds and Oregon doesn’t come back in the second half, and we don’t pull an upset in happy valley tonight - it’s possible (likely?? With how OK has barely scraped by WV/Neb and is struggling today against K-State) we played three of our first five games against teams in the top 5. Doubt there’s another school who can say that, so that would qualify as brutal. Still, if your aspirations are to be a top 10-20 team like IU’s were/are, you have to win at least one of those games. They’ve underperformed. But the schedule didn’t help.

WR D.J. Matthews (Transfer to IU)

Will he be eligible for another year next year since he played less than 4 games? Don’t know how that works with the extra year of eligibility for COVID. -
Definitely looks to be an example of a guy who probably cost himself some money not going into the draft last year. He had some hype riding a couple huge games in a weird season. He keeps this up and he’s gonna be heading to the CFL. Speaking of those decisions. How did that work out for Whop? Did he make a roster?
