I humbly disagree. IU needs a guy that can build a clear team identity, whether that be methodical efficient offense and stingy defense or whoever scores last wins, but we are going to score last, hair on fire offense with low ranking defense, and can recruit effectively to that style. Getting 5 stars is great fun in June but a directionless group of talent sucks in January and February, 2024-25 Hoosiers are example 1A. IU and it's NIL will attract a high enough level of talent regardless of who is the coach, he just has to know what talent he needs.

Question, and I will preface it with the fact that I would rather not have him, but if I got down to Brownell, do you think Beard would come into play?

The Brownell or McCollum rumor seems like once McCollum is hired, a fanbase uniting, "Thank God it wasn't Brownell rumor." Well I guess Brownell would unite 95% of the fan base into a therapy group setting.

Pitino and Brown never left a college HC position for another, so that's 5 coaches in 40 years (ES to UK in 1985) of college coaching hires to leave a successful program for a "blue blood" program with the last of your list being Calipari in 2009. So I would say it's generally not a thing.
