True, stubborn as an egotistical billy goat and in 4 years he never stopped trying to and never got over that damn hump. Hump 1 Woodson 0 Or is that Hump 4 Woodson 0 The hump was like a highway mirage and Woodrow was thiiiirsty.

Just came to post that exact passage. Sure is refreshing to have a coach with enough self confidence to admit to an error in judgment and be willing to self scout.

Bailey's NIL was like lighting $1-2M on fire, TDV has not played to up to his NIL cost, he has contributed as much as he can with great effort but he is just way too slow for the B1G. Conerway, Enright, Alexis have been about as expected. Wilkerson's replacement is the biggest concern for me.

Dorn, Sisley, Miles are solid returning pieces that should all improve along with other younger pieces with a year of college coaching vs 0 returning players from the previous season. Three top 100 HS recruits vs the single Sisley commitment. Class rank 100 spots higher (17 vs117) A coaching staff that is already in place scouting transfers and making connections with future recruits vs DeVries working alone trying to recruit, scout, and hire a staff at a card table in a broom closet in mid March. Now, how does it look to not be more promising?

Hopefully we never find out, but if you think merely missing the tourney his first 2 yrs will get him axed, I've got some bad news for you. Looks like after all the pearl clutching he most likely has his first team headed to the tourney and his current 26-27 roster looks even more promising.

Already prepped and ready.

Fact is he absolutely does not need to make the tourney this year and probably not next year either.

Yeah, just a little morning sarcasm. The worst thing Cig did was create Cig like expectations for every sport. Expecting a top 5-7 B1G team from an entire 100% thrown together team was always unrealistic. A .500 record in the B1G and making the tourney would be a good first step for DeVries. He already is proving to be a good recruiter and the brand of basketball is of the 21st century variety, so that's good. Checking in on the other options IU may have had: McCullom(IOWA) - similar 16-5 with not a single top 25 win Buzz Williamson (MARYLAND) 1-9 in the B1G and an abject disaster Bucky McMillan(T A&M) 7-1 in the SEC but 6 wins are against teams in the bottom 7 of the SEC and they are ranked below IU in NET Richard Pitino (XU) best described as floundering. Will Wade(NC St) Doing well in conf, but again against, except for Clemson, all sub .500 conf bottom feeders. As an apologist, I will wait into year 2 at the very least to light my torch and grab my pitchfork.

Reed Bailey has been there all season. The inability to bring out his inner Shaq has been a huge indictment of this coaching staff.

Christ on a cracker! He literally built an entire team,no hyperbole, zero returning players from scratch in a short period of time. Not even Dusty May had to do that. So he did not McGyver together a Ferrari...shocking! He has put a competitive product on the floor and they are showing signs of growth, something that is foreign to these parts lately. He also has a few quality guys coming back, 3 top 100 recruits and plenty of time to attack the portal this year, so progress should be evident. That is,if he isn't fired in the next few weeks.

What I'm reading is you want Woodson back, you darn participation trophy apologist.

Clickbait. Meyer also said: “This is the greatest turnaround in the history of our sport. It’s not even close,” Meyer said on the field to the FOX television audience as the Hoosiers celebrated their victory behind him. “This is the best coaching job I’ve seen, certainly, in my life – and I think in the history of the sport.”

It's alright if you couldn't find the actual shot chart from last night, no need gaslight us by just using copy and paste of the UW-M chart... which I, also, strongly believe you just copied and pasted from the AL A&M game. Also I suspect that midrange made "shot" was just a poorly executed ally oop until proven otherwise.

It's nice having Sam Alexis coming off the bench but I'm not sure IU can afford to continue with Reed Bailey starting.A stretch 4 that has 1 3pt attempt, averages less than 4 RPG, has marshmallow hands, and protects the rim about as well as a broken condom is just a liability as a tone setter in the paint. He is what he has been for 3 yes, so I can't see him changing. When teams start feasting on ORBs it becomes like a great white feeding frenzy and that aggressive play gets out of IUs control, much like last night. Alexis is not Dikembe Mutumbo, but he is the best guy IU has defensively at the rim and IU needs to set the best tone they can early that opponents misses are their property.

On 3rd and 11 with 4 minutes left IU took a delay of game. I would love to know if Cignetti purposefully didn't burn a time out in the moment to save the 5 yards, calculating the unlikelihood of marking the 1st down and the more likely need for the time out on PSU's possession. That became a pivotal non use of that time out, saving 40 seconds. IU scored with 36 seconds left. Was it lucky mistake or next next level clock management?
