I can't see a bunch of IU guys following him to a low rent power 5 job anyway. That was really his only hope for a quick hire.

The Yuma Incident sounds like something from Ancient Aliens.
-
Semantics. We're obviously going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
-
OK, let me clarify. You seem to be saying that it was totally cool for Crean to blow off his meeting with his boss. I disagree. The IU basketball coaching job is not like being assistant manager at the Quickie Mart and a 3 day trip to Florida you just threw together is hardly a convincing reason to run away. You also seem to be saying that Crean is somehow being classy because he is not trashing his former boss or the school he used to work for, when he easily could. I disagree again. He was fired for good cause, and since I assume he wants another job coaching basketball, it is in his best interests to keep his statements about IU and his former boss positive.
-
Blasting Glass would be about the dumbest thing Crean could do -- and you're giving him a pat on the back now for just not being stupid? I agree, the specifics of the parting are no huge deal. But it seems like people are trying to lionize the guy just because he's doing some sensible things toward getting his next job.
-
Family vacation? How long were then even gone? It was more like a conveniently and hastily planned long weekend. It's not like they had a 3 week tour of Europe or something on tap. Crean had a chance to meet with Glass. The coach meets with the AD when the AD wants or needs to meet. If the coach decides not to, any fallout from that is on the coach. He should get no sympathy from any rational person about how things ended with Glass.
-
Right, it's passive-aggressive behavior. Not at ALL what I would want to see if I'm the next AD looking for a leader of my program.
-
Please. His family is rich and go to Florida whenever they want. You only have one chance to man up and have a face to face with the boss who is going to fire you. You have to do that. If he and Glass have ended on bad terms, it's Crean's fault for not having that final discussion.
-
I thought he was made aware of Fred's meeting request, but got on the plane anyway.
-
Don't know if I would consider refusing to meet with your boss for the closing ceremonies "first class." It seems very childish to me. Go on in that office and get your butt fired like a man. Shake his hand, say thanks for the opportunity, and walk out the door with head held high. If I'm his potential future AD, I'm not liking the "I'm going to Disney World!" thing. It says something about his personality, and if I have to work with him every day for the next 7 years, I would be putt off by that act.

(2017) PG McKinley Wright to Colorado
tablegrapes replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Wright just looks like a basketball player in that vid. And I mean that in a complimentary way. Seems to lack elite quickness/first step/explosion, but I am convinced that all IU fans really need to recalibrate our PG ideas after watching Yogi for four years. We got used to watching a guy who was so quick it was pretty much impossible for the other team to stay in front of him when he wanted to get to the rim to score or dish. It's not that easy to find. -
Agree -- until that situation fully shakes out, a Louisville lean means nothing. Prying him away from Duke is another story, but it's way too early throw in the towel.
-
You gotta throw Kaylee Hartung into that discussion -- for those who like 'em brunette.
-
Other board says he has no eligibility left

Sean was NEVER going to seriously sniff around a high profile job is brother was in the mix for. People have to think this through. Sean already has a great job where he has a high level of success and is very well paid. Sniping the IU job, or attempting to, would have made the holidays at the folks' place very uncomfortable.
