  1. I think Roof academically is just a sophomore so he’s going to have to sit out wherever he might go. I assume maybe wherever his dad is now coaching. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  2. Hmmm. I thought Roof was injured / done with football. Isn’t that what Coach Allen said. Something to that effect. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  3. It’s ACC country Where he is from. More opportunities for family and friends to see him play at North Carolina then in the BIG 10. I would think that probably was a big factor. Sounds like the Indiana staff did a great job with him on the visit but unfortunately looking like they are going to lose this battle. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  4. Phinisee Green Hunter or Smith TJD Brunk I don’t think Smith leaves. He’s played too many minutes. Sure, he had ups and downs but was a sophomore. Hopefully, he gets a little stronger and improves. Team needs him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  5. Hoosiers softball and baseball both swinging hot bats this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  6. I disagree with piling on Romeo. Yeah, he made mistakes but he also was very good. Does he have room to improve his shooting and defense? Absolutely. The team was very flawed. Donut in the middle. Deron can’t jump or rebound and forced Juwan to play center far too often. Fitzner was unable to shoot consistently and struggled on defense. Smith was hot and cold, either good or not so much. Phinisee had his good moments but his concussion hurt when he was gone. He has a chance to be good, needs to get stronger and has to be a better distributor off the drive. Green and Durham improved. Both need to shore up ball handling and shooting. Anderson, Thompson, Moore, Forrester- not much playing time between the 4. I’m hopeful Forrester stays. I think he just needs strength and he can help inside rebound, block shots, and be a guy who plays above the rim. TJD and Franklin both have skills to help but IU needs to add another PG and center (rebounder / shot blocker. Hopefully Archie can close this recruiting class out strong and he can get a healthy Jerome Hunter back. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  7. Phinisee needs to get stronger. He needs to work on his jump shot to be more consistent., and needs to be able to create off the dribble drive with either score or dish. Still saw a lot of good but I recall yogi struggling with similar things as a freshman so it’s possible Phinisee can get better. That being said, I think they really need another point guard, particularly one that is a dynamic dribble / drive / passer. That and a big center who can rebound, block shots, and generally defend at a high level. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  8. The saddest part about it is he didn’t need to do any of it. Maybe at Oklahoma but it wasn’t needed at IU. He knew the rules that he needed to abide by but chose not to do it. The guy was a tremendous recruiter and a solid coach. He needed to tighten the reigns academically and with the other activities that were going on. Rough year for the Hoosiers but they still are playing. Obviously not where they thought they would be but play hard and finish strong. Hopefully they can get Romeo and Race back. 9. Yeah. That’s a shame. Bendu was playing well. Hope it’s not an Achilles year. IU deficiency that almost cost them in the Texas game was lack of size / athleticism inside. Texas outrebounded the by 20. Oregon wasn’t missing enough shots to have to worry about offensive boards. Good things for the future for IU women’s ball. Good class coming. If she could get a grad transfer center, they could make a run next year. Lots coming back. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  10. IU will get screwed by the NCAA. They approve waivers to guys at OSU and Miami that should have had to sit out. Tuttle will prob have to sit. If this is how it’s going to be. Just approve everyone. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  11. Lack of Defense intensity , lazy passes, and unforced turnovers keep rearing their ugly head. Iowa by 10 and Garza barely played. Too easy inside and outside for Iowa. IU just doesn’t have anyone to match up with Tyler Cook inside. Iowa’s 3 point shooters helped them extend the lead. IU has to tighten the D and hit some shots early to make a run Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  12. Sadly injuries have ruined Deron. The guy showed potential when healthy. But he hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Bad Achilles and bad ankles hurt his mobility. He never was an exceptional leaper but his lateral quickness and ability to jump is gone at this point. Who knows if he can get back to where he was before the Achilles next year. He needs another big body to go with TJD next year. You don’t want him at center. He’s a prototypical power forward. Need to add another big man. I still think Archie should be playing Forrester. Jake is a tremendous leaper and plays with energy. This team needs someone to give it some fire. Lack of pure shooters is a major problem. They need another one next year to go w Franklin. Keion is a good shooter but I’m not sure what kind of percentage he is from 3. Jerome will hell next year. He’s a good shooter and can create offense. It’s a shame Race seems to potentially be done for the year. He’s a descent shooter and has a big enough body to help on the boards. Injuries have decimated this team. I can’t say it’s necessarily the S&C guy but I’ve never seen a run of injuries like this. Team is struggling to get healthy and find its identify. Gonna be a long year if they can’t figure it out. 13. Patberg had been very good. Her and Brenna Wise unfortunately both did not have anywhere close to their normal production. That was one they know they never should have lost. OSU is not very good but did enough. IU was really sloppy with their passes. OSU kept overplaying them and getting a lot of steals. The road is tough but that was a winnable game. 14. I think Aleska Gulbe will see significant time. She played very well against good international competition this summer. May not start but will be good off the bench. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  15. I would think Duncan, Mercer, Snider would probably be the most likely candidates. I liked Tracy but don’t think him coming back would be good for him or IU. I think he is going to do all he can to turn it around this year and stay out west for the long haul. Not interested in Henderson. He did a great job filling in for Miss St manager but history as UK coach was not outstanding. Lemonis was a good choice for IU because he recruited Indiana , Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, ohio for Louisville and was successful getting talent. He did the same while at IU. Getting someone who can recruit the Midwest at a high Level will continue to keep IU near the top of the Big 10. Whether they choose someone with head coaching experience or a high profile assistant coach, I think if they find someone who has experience recruiting those areas, it will lead to continued success. 17. I don’t think Crean would have done better w this roster. I feel for RoJo. Didn’t want his career to end like that. Hartman’s injuries really hurt his ability to play. Never could get Morgan going today. Seemed like he’s worn out. Team rode him all year. Durham played well today. Otherwise, I don’t have much. Freddie plays hard and gives effort. Mcbob does the same. Just didn’t have the talent to compete when the shots aren’t falling. Rebuilds are tough. Having patience is tougher. Iu needs to add two more to next years team. One from New Albany. The other, a grad transfer big. How much did The Michigan transfer help that year. There’s no guarantee how long Deron is out. And no guarantee he doesn’t move on. Still think there could be a couple that choose to move on. Rough year. Some good. Some bad. Lots to fix in order get better. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  18. Every solid team out there has a PG that carries them , that gets the big basket or big assist. IU had that with Yogi. Haven’t had it since. I hope Phinisee is ready to go because he starts day 1. This team couldn’t shoot through most of the year. Went on a stretch where they seemed to pick it up a little, only to go back to the beginning with their bad shooting. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  19. Gotta give it to Rutgers. They executed and thoroughly outplayed IU. 58 percent from the field. 50 percent from 3. 75 percent from the line. Iu finishes 37 percent from the field. 26 percent from 3. 86 percent from the line. They hit their FT 11 turnovers for IU but the bunch of them at the end of the first half changed the momentum. Archie needs to close the deal w Romeo. No NIT to worry about after this loss. Not how you want to Finish the season w 3 straight losses, the last one to a team you blew out on their home floor. Need to add a graduate transfer big man 6-10+. No guarantee DD comes back or is ready to go. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  20. Rutgers hitting their free throws. Back to 5 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  21. Iu able to cut to 3 w 16 seconds Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  22. Iu down 8 with 1 minute to go. I think that’s pretty much gonna do it. Wow. Never thought iU would lay a giant egg. About a poor or performance as you you can have. Rutgers exposed IU weaknesses. No inside defense and no point guard. Iu took a bunch of bad 3s and hit none of them. Iu shooting 35 percent. Rutgers 55 percent. Not gonna win too many games with offense like that. And defense like that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  23. Two straight guard turnovers. Bad passes by Johnson and Green. Iu now down 6. These guards today. Every time IU gets close. Guards just throw it away. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  24. Al is IUs best guard today. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  25. Freeman scores on runner. Freeman and Sanders unstoppable. Hartman misses 2 3s. Newkirk throws it out of bounds. Wow. IU has laid a giant egg. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
