Really like this team so far. Granted yes we haven't played good teams. A few things of note: 1) So far what a jump by Justin Smith and Al Durham! That is what you expect from your upperclassmen. 2) TJD is going to be a star. He already is! He is going to get better as the season goes on. 3) Race Thompson is a grown man. If this team stays healthy I think IU is a top 4 team in the Big Ten this year and probably a top 25 team. Time will only tell. They have things to get better at but no complaints tonight.

It isn't just me that thinks he's different this year is it? I don't mean this in a bad way at all. He's been more emotional on the bench too. The load managment comment was gold. I just feel like he's more comfortable.

I met Todd Leary at Archie's event in Evansville. Super nice guy.

Seems like a really cool event. Would be awesome if he goes to the game tonight.

Rooting for the kid. I think he is very talented but he has had lofty expectations. Still think he can be a decent player in the NBA.

If Damezi can give this team around 15 solid minutes, that's a huge win. I'm not worried about the starting lineup. I was worried about the bench this year. Armaan and Damezi are helping those worries go away. This won't be an exciting team. But they will be a good defensive team. They will kill you down low I think.

I'm thinking this: Starting 5: Rob, Devonte, Al, Justin, TJD (We agree) I think Devonte and Rob make all Big Ten Team this year. TJD is up there for FOY. Off the bench: Armaan, Joey, Damezi I REALLY like the way Armaan and Damezi played. I expect them in a reserve role. Race, De'Ron, and Jerome will play, they just may be up and down roles (may play a lot one game and may not another. Depends on the matchup). My prediction for this year? I say 23-12 (11-9), 6th place in the Big Ten, they make the dance and win a game in the first round. Momentum into next year.

If this version of Justin Smith shows up we will be pretty good. (It is against Gannon though)

I read somewhere he doesn't like his role right now with the program.

I hope in two years we have a backcourt of Phinisee, Franklin, and Lander.

Went to USI-Evansville exhibition tonight.Great game! USI was a final four team last year in D2 and the Aces have had a lot of hype (doesn't mean squat). Evansville won 71-68 in OT. Was really disappointed in the Aces. Evansville has two top 100 recruits and two starters from other mid major teams that transferred in. That plus their leading scorer and a few key reserves from last year returned. USI was without their two best returning players from last year and lost 4 key guys due to graduation. Aces look to be the mid-major version of the Browns. They have a long way to go. They play Kentucky in two weeks.

How confident does everyone feel on BTown Banners about Garcia? I'm thinking 75%ish.

Sounds like the visit is going well from what I read. He would be a nice piece for years to come. Would make me being okay with losing out on Furst in 2021.

I'll eat my crow about Tom Allen. Well done. He turned this season around. It could have gone south after OSU. Really the Penn State game is the only loss I see. They can win the rest to go 9-3. Keep the momentum going.

Love this time of the year..NFL and College football seasons are getting good and college hoops starts.

More positives than negatives if you consider the top two guards were out. Need to improve FT shooting and limit turnovers. Glad Jerome played 14 minutes.

Solution- hire a better coach. They are capable of doing so.

Just from seeing them in person or on TV, Archie is a no BS kind of guy. Allen is a clown. He's just too much. I usually say most of the time you know by year two if you hired the right coach or not. Look at Kirby at Georgia or Saban at Bama. Hope that's not the case with Archie. He's said and recruited the right way.

Pat is exactly the kind of guy IU needs to find. Dude should be in the NFL coaching by now. Northwestern bowls before Pat: 6 Bowls with Pat: 9

Agree with baseball. But Tom Allen took a team that went to back-back bowl games (really good for IU!) to back-back 5-7 seasons losing to our rival in the last week. Outside of UConn and Rutgers find me another win. I see 4-8. That would make Tom 14-23. Yikes. I have no faith in him. He can kick all the trash cans he wants and give all the rah rah speeches. He's a good coordinator not a head coach.

And I really do think IU (not Fred) can hire the right guy. Some young hungry assistant coach would love to turn this program around. All I'm asking for is 6 freaking wins.

Sorry guys, rant coming- There is no excuse. Indiana can win in football. Purdue was trash three years ago, they have now made back to back bowl games. Northwestern was terrible in football. They've done pretty well. Why? They have the right coach. I said this last year and got ripped by a few people. Tom Allen isn't the answer. Sure, I didn't like Wilson either. But at least they were trending in the right direction. This program has gone down since he took over. I thought this was a 4-8 team before the season and I still do. They have some nice players but the Big Ten is tough. Everyone was so excited over the past recruiting classes. This is where they stack up in the Big Ten according to ESPN 2019: 9th 2018: 11th 2017: 12th That's not good folks. Average of 11th place. 11th place doesn't make a bowl game in the Big Ten. I don't get why people are even surprised. Purdue has even had a top 25 class.
