  1. Have to be careful with what all I say but there was a very strong hint he posted at first. Then all of a sudden said he is visiting Arkansas but many feel IU is still in strong shape.
  2. Yeah I'm kind of confused on what is going on now...There was a strong hint and then all of a sudden this.
  3. haha portal season is usually testing season here. I just work on paperwork and refresh the boards.
  4. Guys I think this one is over lol
  5. Malone is someone I'd like to get regardless. Seems like a solid option as a backup 5.
  6. He is coming on Friday. Would assume he commits by Sunday. I don't know if he has any other visits lined up or not.
  7. Agree with you both. If they happen to sign while Ballo takes his time, fine by me. I just want as much talent as possible on this team for next year. They can figure out rotations once the seasons starts. Kind of reminded me when we bought our new home. They didn't want to respond to any offers until a certain date. We gave them an offer that expired two days later. Take it or leave it. We got the home in the end lol.
  8. I don't blame Ballo one bit for taking other visits. Why not? He isn't going to be a high NBA draft pick. Probably his last chance at a large pay day.
  9. Hoosier's Connect responded. That's just as good as anything else.
  10. This makes sense for them. I'm seeing a lot of schools part ways with 5th year guys (or vice versa). They prefer the younger guys/transfers. Purdue did it with Gillis. Kaufman-Renn or transfers will see more minutes. UConn with Sanogo last year in favor of Clingan. Galloway will see plenty of time this next year but I'm sure his minutes/production will decrease.
  11. I think Arizona is high on their backup, Krivas. He was the top international prospect last year.
  12. Crazy few months at Ohio State..fire Holtmann, rumored to get Dusty May or somebody else (supposedly Cal was interested), they do well enough to keep Diebler. Now they have some good pieces for next year. Big Ten is better when IU, Ohio State, and Michigan are all good.
  13. Sorry if you've answered...do you see Payne still coming to IU with Ballo? Payne at least has two years. He could get starter minutes as a senior.
  14. Let's close the deal!! No more visits!
  15. The thing I like about some of the guys we have been targeting is A) multi-year guys..Myles Rice, possibly Carlyle, Conwell, Payne. I don't want this to be an every year thing where Indiana has to replace it's best players. Obviously things change but Carlyle is seen as a second round pick. Mgbako and Reneau have work to do to get drafted B) I think while Jakai and Gabe may not see as much playing time next year, they have a chance the following year to step into a role better suited for them. C) I think some of the '25 guys would fit right in as well into a good role. D) If Mgbako were to go pro Tucker can step in. Still will have probably 5-6 scholarships but most of your core will be back unlike this offseason and last year. I hate to say it, but I think that will be the new norm in college basketball. That being said, landing these guys is not only good for 24-25 but for the future.
  16. Dang..Tucker (5 star), Rice with possibly Hickman, Ballo, Carlyle, Payne...that is some serious cash IU is spending. Not saying they all are coming to IU but still.
  17. You don't think Myles Rice has the potential to be a program changer? I agree things need to play out. I am not at all sold on this coaching staff. However, Rice had a heck of a season as a freshman (I understand he wasn't a true one). His team made the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Hasn't happened at that school since Klay Thompson was there.
  18. it's April 14. Just a fun conversation on what ifs. Nothing wrong with it. And agree on last part somewhat. Our top 7 guys I think will see plenty of playing time. Guys 8-10 not sure.
  19. Just wanted to hear what people had to think about it. I can't see Carlyle wanting to come here to come off the bench...He's a consensus top 15-20 transfer. It sounds like it is just about a done deal between him and IU much like Myles Rice (crystal ball and Trilly). Again..GREAT problem to have. But, somebody is going to have to come off the bench. That being said...those guys can still see plenty of playing time. It's just a different mindset.
  20. It sounds like it is somewhat possible that IU lands Hickman AND Carlyle. Let's say they add Ballo. What's the starting 5 with this scenario? Is it: Rice, Hickman, Carlyle, Malik, Ballo? With Trey, Mgbako, and Tucker off the bench? I've read where Hickman isn't coming to be a role player off the bench. It's a great problem to have as long as IU can keep everyone. I can't see Mgbako coming off the bench. He had a good freshman year. Trey I think is the perfect 6th man (said this for multiple years) and Tucker being a freshman I can see. My take: Carlyle is probably the better player but I think Hickman is the better fit right now. If Indiana doesn't land any shooters the ceiling of this team is probably Sweet 16 at best. Why settle for that? That being said...get them both!
  21. True. FWIW, he was listed in Tier 1 on Peegs Hot Board this morning. Ballo was Tier 2. Just wonder if the staff will push as hard for him right away.
  22. I'm interested to see what staff does with Payne considering Ballo is visiting after him. Have to think Ballo is ahead of him as a priority.
  23. To Be fair I do think they both will improve. Technically they are only sophomores. But still need shooters.
  24. Trey Galloway is going to play no matter what. As far as Tucker goes more and more 5 stars are coming off the bench. Especially with this extra covid year still in play. I think half of ESPN's 5 stars last year came off the bench..some played at UK where Cal didn't play his two best guys right away. However, there were others.
