Yeah I mean who knows. Certainly could’ve been nothing, but neither you nor I know about their relationship. Just seemed odd when they would disagree that the subordinate (Whitmer) had a look on his face like screw you. And then to look elsewhere after one year, I guess it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he just didn’t jive with Cig.
-
Doesn’t really surprise me. Rewatching some games from this year and there were a couple of times, including the Natty end of half, where he and Cig seemed to have words or at least a disagreement. Wonder if Hoover knew this was a possibility.

It was a practice leading up to a Monday night game at Purdue in early 1991. The spectacular thing about that rant is the team was 14-1 and #3 in the country. Much like Cig, absolutely no complacency. oh, and they won 65-62 “up there at Purdue” and they didn’t end up going .500 in the league that year. They went 15-3

I could see Schertz taking the TENN job if Barnes retires. Had a nice run for many years in that area at Lincoln Memorial.

Cig mentioned several times how this year’s team was tired/beat up for the PSU and Wisco games and those were 5 and 6 weeks of games in a row. 9 in a row is a brutal stretch.

IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Hearing Cig is giving him a full offer for final year so he is coming out of the portal and staying. Won’t really be impactful on the field, if at all, but cool to keep him from a leadership and culture aspect. -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Mostly played coverage, very little sending extra guys, just tried to confuse Beck flooding the zones. Probably thought it would be difficult to get home against their line so why waste extra defenders. And Beck showed some escapability in the CFP up to that point. Strategy worked brilliantly in the 1H, they found some counters in the 2H and then it ultimately worked on the last drive. Haines said as much regarding the last drive. -
#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
MonteMarcaccini replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Seems like IU will have a slight crowd advantage based on everything out there, which would be similar to the B1G Championship. That was a very intense crowd, as intense as I’ve witnessed live, with both crowds hanging on every play. I anticipate it being similar tonight…unless IU takes control early! -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

!! Had a friend that wrote for Clark for a couple years. He asked me to keep stats at the ABCD camp at Princeton, which was the showcase recruiting event back then. Incredible week- that was the class of rising seniors with the Fab 5, Alan, Big Dog, on and on. But the best player that week was a rising junior named Jason Kidd. Also, it took a while to get Clark to reimburse my expenses… But yeah, a combo of Street & Smiths, Hoop Scoop and Donna’s annual Hoosier Mag was how you guessed who IU was recruiting. Basically any good player in IN, IL, and OH was a possibility. Good times. -
IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates

Walk on from Westfield that was one of 4 WO’s to be kept during the coaching change. Believe he is graduating in the spring so has a chance to get a post grad degree and play more somewhere else. Saw his Dad at a Peach Bowl pre game party and he said Jack told him they had a bad walk thru but said they would win by 2 TD’s or more. Felt pretty good after I heard that, lol. -
Umm, yeah. We don’t have a talent advantage, exactly my point. Lose a game and the coach is outcoached. I don’t have the hubris to know what adjustments “other teams are throwing at us” I know that puts me in the minority. Again, a lot of factors go into getting outscored in a college basketball game. And I’m not even a DDV apologists. I simply have no idea at this point what he can do with this program. Damn sure am not going to pass judgement 16 games into his tenure with this particular squad. And I would hope Iowa fans are in the same boat. But fans are gonna fan…

Oh boy, here we go. Such an uninformed narrative lacking any nuance. You me or anybody else on the couch have no idea if he is truly outcoached just because they lose games or lose leads. We aren’t in the locker room, huddles, film room etc. Do we know what adjustments he did or didn't make on screen coverages, rotations, play calls, on and on?? Did he “out coach” Pope Medved and Hoiberg in the first half? If this team had a noticeable talent advantage and they are still blowing games, then there is cause for concern. Turnovers, foul trouble (Wilk at UK, TD yesterday) for long stretches, missed shots, other teams (also with good players trying to win games) making plays. So much that impacts games besides coaching decisions. Yesterday’s game was disappointing. A lot of factors led to blowing a large lead to a good team. You want to nitpick the roster construction, fine. I know one guy on here brings it up in 99% of his posts. But we also have no idea who all they tried to engage with or negotiate with. Other teams have $ and are trying to win as well. 16 games into this program - 12-4 (3-2) with good metrics with a limited team and the narrative is he is getting out coached after every loss. Let it breathe…
-
“Out coached”. Goodness.
-
So predictable, lol

Wonder if Iowa fans are going to moan and complain about McCollum after losing to a ranked team by 6 on their home floor
-
Bah humbug. Constantly.

Cig said nothing that happened in the game would prevent Coop from playing in the Rose Bowl. Rabjohns said in chat that he talked to him post game and there shouldn’t be any concern. Rabjohns stayed silent on Daley when he was asked several times.
-
Cig made a comment in Sundays media availability about checking injuries during the game and “after the game”. I thought it was tongue in cheek but seems ominous now.

Belmont off to a 7-0 start beating Toledo by 15 today. Keeping an eye on Carmel’s Sam Orme, 6-9 RS SO for Belmont. Very skilled stretch 4, 18 today and abg 15 a game, 37% 3pfg career. No inside info but definitely know they are a big IU family. Seems logical as a potential portal guy for the DDV system.
