I know you're tired of rehashing the same old stuff with Stevens. But you gotta admit, it's way more entertaining of a wait if we have these ups and downs of potential information leaks, even if they are only 5% or less true and factual. People thrive on hope....a chance (mixed in with some drama). The alternative kind of becomes a boring conversation about boring candidates.

Yes...of course...because it's more fun than talking about some guy named Niko out in Colorado.

With all the leaking and now pooping, I am just thrilled that this conversation has gone back to being on someone where I actually recognize their name as a basketball coach.

Why the heck not? Talking about everyone else is boring...just like our hire will be if IU doesn't pony up some cash.

I sure am glad that this search doesn't have an actual direct impact on my life (which is why I will always hold out hope for the best that's out there.....Stevens). The stress I can feel in some of the posters on here is palpable. IU is getting a new basketball coach in the next couple weeks. We will find out where the IU job stands with regard to the seriousness of the money spent and the expectations held on the next coach. Honestly, no matter who is hired, I just want IU to be taken seriously again when it comes to the national conversation about how the team is ran and performing.

Gotta be consistent...if you're not going to believe he was ever in play, you can't act like we knew he wanted a GM...[emoji4]

You're not wrong when you say that most coaches won't mess with winning and their happiness at their current jobs. I agree that it is probably a factor with at least some of those top coaches that are named at times.

I always thought IU could spend their way out of it, and a top-tier coach would come. I guess maybe not....maybe we've just exhausted the conversation, and we'll get good news in the end?....I hope.

Man....we are starting to talk about people I couldn't pick out of a lineup. Are we going to discuss active high school coaches tomorrow? The discussion around this search has gotten desperate and sad.

This puts it in perspective for me....sucks that happened to you, but good way of looking at this scenario. I agree it's probably best to stay away from Beard because we don't have to hire him to get his level of results.
