The Wink was code from insiders and big donors, posted on here, that ‘we got our guy’…just everyone had been directed to not talk, so they winked when asked about coach hiring status. It blew up on here part serious, but mostly farce.

That’s what we’re about to find out! Just seems a bit high risk…to point to excuses and say what might have been if they had…

With our resources, we’ll def be right back in those play in games…once he gets a couple of years to bring in his own guys and the kids learn to adjust to that super confusing pack line and slow pace.

Every significant win Dusty gets is gonna be salt in the wound…from here until eternity!!

Imagine if... McCollum goes to Iowa....and crushes it! May continues to flourish at Michigan and gets regular Sweet 16s and Final 4's! Painter and Izzo keep up with their high level averages. And, we bring on Brownell...who reverts back to his SEC mean - of regular low to middle of the conference finishes - and a top 3-4 in conference and small run in the tourney every 6-7 years or so. This scenario, or similar, could very well be the straw that breaks the camel's back for many deeply ingrained long time fans. The unwavering fan and booster support that has been a huge asset -- with each successive miss it becomes more fragile. Perhaps we already are there, but it would certainly be a text book case study for Sports Management classes on administrative mismanagement and institutional dysfunction.

This is ridiculous, unless the contract explicitly states the conference the team plays in to have any relationship to the rest of the terms outlined - which is incredibly unlikely. The university made a unilateral change in athletic conferences based its perception of perceived value and benefit. Almost certainly it didn’t change the terms of his contract to coach the team. He can’t just say ‘well, let’s renegotiate my $4M annual and $15M buy out b/c the B1G is much more competitive and will require a lot more travel. How about we just lower the buyout to $5M and call it even!’

Worst announcing EVER, including the game when Bill Walton was tripping and didn’t mention basketball the entire broadcast! SWAC announcers more prepared and talented. B1G needs to do better. It has been like Bardo x 4!

Only took 3.75 yrs to make a small but significant adjustment. Tough to figure that out on the golf course or cigar lounge!

Would be total home run! Unlikely…UofA NIL very solid, both currently and pre-NIL era. U does have some financial challenges, both broadly and in athletics…and football, which feeds athletics engine, is on the down swing. Would love to see it!!

Michigan football without question makes exceptions - very, very easily. They often use the ‘academically ineligible’ excuse only when they’ve changed their mind on a recruit for other reasons/concerns. It’s a soft way to back out - that further promotes their ‘high standards’ propaganda. eg. Caleb Love It then slips that a player is academically ineligible…purposeful furthering the public perception of their esteemed educational standards. That being said, much more difficult to get into than Indiana as a non-athlete undergrad.

Tired of the administrative malfeasance! We are the penultimate case study of mismanaging a major, historically elite college athletic brand. We keep bringing in inexperienced insiders to run and influence IU athletics (Glass, Dolson), allow undue influence of board members and major donors - and then settle for risk, mediocrity and nepotistic, emotional choices to lead the program who have absolutely no business being in their roles. Major college sports is big business and we’ve squandered our capital again and again with on bad decision hire after hire. Hiring Woodson in the first place was a really poor decision. Bringing him back for a year 4 was completely insulting. Clean house and bring in professionals! Drew, Cronin, Buzz, Brownwell…feels like ceiling is top 1/3rd of B1G…top 3 once every 5 years or so. It disgusts me a bit, but go get Beard and a new AD.
