#1 INDIANA FOOTBALL 2025 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
HinnyHoosier replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Same here. So far calendar years the 21st century that end in 6 are super fun sports years. 2006: Colts bring a Super Bowl to Indiana 2016: Cubs break the curse 2026: Hoosiers complete the unthinkable Now I just need my teams to do something sooner than every 10 years. -
I'll defer to you there. I don't remember all the details regarding some of the transfers...or maybe my mind is blocking stuff out for my own protection.

At times people act like he had unlimited options and resources when building his makeshift rebuild roster behind the stink trail of the previous coach who mismanaged things so badly every single player wanted a fresh start elsewhere. An almost literal bare cupboard at a program that has a "meh" rating from most everyone outside it.

And we did not wilt in the face of pressure. Just like Iowa. And Penn State. And Oregon. And Ohio State. And then Miami. We absolutely stepped up to the challenge when it came calling, and we overcame every. single. time. A champion takes everyone's best shot, gets back up, and punches back until they're the last one standing. Miami: backed up to punt deep in their own territory - missed a block horribly and we took 6 from it. Miami: With Indiana gambling on 4th and 5 from the Miami 12, they have a chance to get the ball back and keep the deficit at 3. Multiple guys cannot bring down the Heisman winner and he not only converts, but puts 6 on the board by pure determination. Miami: Down 2 scores but still with time to make a miracle comeback and moving the ball well. Misread coverage and under throw on a routine ball that ends with Indiana taking what belongs to them: the ball, and the National Title. Yes, Miami put up a good fight. But we never trailed (a single second of the entire CFP, for that matter) and we rightfully took what was ours. -
I think he and Scott both dropped the ball together pre-hire. And of course we don't know all the details so I'm merely speculating, but with the way staff and roster building played out it just seems like there wasn't any real plan or expectation established regarding his transition to IU and how he planned to reverse the course of the program, starting with day 1.

Agreed. And now that football has fulfilled its prophecy and he's now proven to have hired the greatest talent evaluator and coach in college football, Scott Dolson has a very clear and narrow objective: get Indiana great at BOTH. It's incredibly difficult to do at this level, having both highly successful football and basketball programs, but we are actively feasting on the fruits of the 'WHY NOT US' mindset. So...why can't Indiana be the one? DDV will not be fired at the end of this season barring some sort of egregious behavior or major violation. He may not be, or probably isn't, the guy here unless some drastic improvement is demonstrated next year that gives us a reason to pause on that mindset. And that doesn't appear to have a high likelihood right now. But firing him this year digs a deeper hole that administration started on long ago. What proponents of a fiscally irresponsible insta-firing can hope for, though, is Scott already doing his basketball homework on post-DDV tenure actions. Basically, we're handcuffed into this situation for the time being but he'd better be formulating the plan ahead of time for when the cuffs come off.

Unless you have a bona fide guy in this particular job, very few high end players will want to come here to play. It'll have to be a name that sells the product now, because there is no proven product here and hasn't been for some time. Scott caught lightning in a bottle on the football field. For his next trick he's gonna have to catch a whale on the basketball court.

A buddy of mine said his cousin was standing in line outside Kilroy's yesterday morning to be able to get a spot inside to watch last night's game. And by morning he meant 3AM. -

Because we are bona fide undisputed and they have no choice but to recognize us, I'm watching First Take. This refusal to recognize Miami and help them feel good is absolute gold. 20260120_111606.mp4 -

To top it off: Purdue catches strays from SVP, who highlights the combined 122-3 head to head score in the Cignetti-Era Old Oaken Bucket games. That's icing on the cake. -
