  1. I'm sure it's already been discussed in this thread, but how epic was Geronimo's block where he just grabbed the ball out of the air?
  2. He shot 8/16 - since when is 50% from the field awful? Look, I already said he had a good night defensively, and I'll even admit that at least 7 of the points that I remember weren't again him (Race went about 5 feet under a screen that gave him a wide open 3, one drive was against Phinisee, and one drive against TJD). My point on a few of the TOs is that when an offensive player has minimal pressure on him and throws a terrible pass, it's just a terrible offensive play, not a credit to the defender. And I don't disagree with your point about team defense, but it doesn't make a ton of sense IMO to give credit to his individual defensive performance while also accounting for negative plays as being "on the team." I think people are being over the top saying we don't win that game without Parker. If that's actually true we are in trouble, because Wyoming just isn't that good. Utah State is in the MW and played a lower seeded Oregon team in the NIT last night and got shellacked. Wyoming beat them by two each time they played them.
  3. I think you guys are turning a solid night defensively by Parker Stewart into some sort of "superhuman" effort, which it wasn't. He didn't have any steals and several of those turnovers by Maldanado were unforced Several times players were digging down to help out Parker on Maldanado and those resulted in threes Maldanado got by Parker several times off the dribble and dished the ball for assists Fouled a 3 point shooter at the end of the game Maldanado scored 21 points, many of them against Parker And he offers nothing offensively besides "spacing." But again, put someone like Bates out there and you're not going to lose much from a spacing perspective while also gaining someone who has ability to put the ball on the floor and get around his defender. Parker is also missing badly on his threes which are leading to run outs on the other end. We won the game, which is all that matters, however I hope Parker gets a lot less run next game. Our ceiling is highest with him on the bench.
  4. Kopp played 21 minutes, Thompson 20, and Galloway 12. We just played the best we played all year with Stewart mainly on the bench in the BTT, and tonight he plays 37 minutes. He offers damn near nothing on offense at this point, and is a below average defender most nights.
  5. I don't agree, Bates played excellent defense the minutes he was in as well. And some of Maldanado's poor play was just poor execution vs. great defense by Stewart. Like I said, Stewart did a good job keeping Maldanado in front of him and not fouling, but he still had 21 points. I don't understand the whole "we don't win this game without him" because we can also win by scoring points, which Parker doesn't help us do.
  6. Can someone please explain to me why Parker Stewart played 37 minutes tonight? He's now 5-27 from 3 in our last 8 games. I will give him credit for playing decent defense and not fouling against Maldanado, but he got beat off the dribble often and Maldanado could have had more than 21 if he'd hit a few more shots when he was backing Stewart down close to the bucket. I understand the concept of spacing, but put a guy like Bates in and it's not as if teams are going to sag off of him. Plus Bates is dynamic enough to get past a defender off the dribble if they overplay the three, which Stewart can't do. I also thought Bates played excellent defense the few minutes he was in. Most of our best runs in the BTT were when Stewart was on the bench, and I don't understand why we don't go with what has proven to work lately. I'm very happy we won but Wyoming is honestly just not that good. In my mind, we have very little chance of advancing if Stewart is playing major minutes.
  7. I’m so far beyond frustrated that Parker Stewart still plays. He’s literally awful.
  8. I'll take the 6 additional points over the "potential" to stop ~4 points having two more blocks per game than TJD.
  9. I would think he at least makes honorable mention. Not sure how you could defend having Walker Kessler and Zach Edey included ahead of him, for example.
  10. TJD apparently not even an honorable mention. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/33510053/big-ten-lands-three-players-ap-all-america-first-team
  11. Hoosiers in Paradise?!? Does Florida have better IU bar watch options than Chicago? Chicago is impressively sad for how many IU alums there are here.
  12. I'd add Kentucky to that mix, at 4 and 27 you're basically splitting hairs.
  13. For the most part, Trayce has been excellent at avoiding fouls, and I'm willing to bet Ike is not one of the top 3 best bigs we've faced this season. Fair to worry about X, would love to see Phinisee start and guard Maldanado...of course that's not going to happen because clearly we need Parker's hot shooting hand (20% over last 7 games).
  14. They finished 4th in the MW and did not win their tourney.
  15. I was thinking the same thing, that's really good all things considered.
  16. They don’t even have notre dame in their first four out. Makes sense because their resume is terrible. Whoops, meant to quote the Delphi bracket post.
  17. Going back to yesterday’s game as well, sometimes we are really lazy going after boards.
  18. That's fair, like I said not my first option (would prefer X or Kopp for sure), but not my last either so I was OK with him being in there.
  19. I'm pretty sure I saw him in during that last inbounds play where X eventually got the ball. I will agree he wouldn't be my first choice, but also not my last.
