We ran the ole 3/2 packed box triangle zone back in the day. Packed box portion was the most difficult part to coach up. OK, who we getting to finish out this roster?

  4. Went to a multi-day meeting in Phoenix. Took the opportunity to get a round of golf in. 105* out. Thank god it’s a “dry” heat. every square inch of my clothing was trying to humidify AZ. I’d never make it there myself, but a really cool area if you’re good with the temps.

If Shelbyville were just a bit closer we could have gotten them to the horse track. We’re screwed
  6. Nice to hear about Ft Wayne. Through there a lot 25 or so years back and it certainly was not what you’re stating now. Nice that it has rebounded.
  7. Mt Airy is a cool little town. Been there MANY times. Pork chop sandwich at Snappy Lunch is the way to go if you’re passing through for the Mayberry theme. if you are BBQ fan you’ve probably heard of Lexington style barbecue. A town of only 20k, but when we moved here there were 26 mom and pop barbecue joints. Changing times though. Maybe a dozen now. Still good stuff if your a pig shoulder fan.
  8. Lexington, NC. Less than 1 hour to Greensboro, Charlotte and Winston-Salem Born and raised in Indiana and still love it. Knightstown, Bloomington, Indy, Lafayette (it sucked), merrillville, LaPorte But…North Carolina since 2002. Here to stay. Great freshwater lakes, 1/2 day gets you to ocean or mountains. Still have 4 legit seasons but never need more than a fleece.

I’m getting the feeling CDD likes to keep it in a VERY close circle.

North Carolina. So the only SEC fans I ever see are a few transplanted Alabama fans and a friend that went to Clemson. They have miraculously become huge bball fans. Think of IU suddenly being rabid football fans. Same story with the script flipped. Always easy jumping on the wagon for a winner. Difference for them currently is they get to cheer for both at a high level. Hoping we get to soon. They still stack football first, doubt that will ever change. I worked in Alabama for a while, the football fandom is on another planet from anything I’ve seen. It’s their college and pro team combined. EVERYBODY there reminds me of this board, LOL living in the heart of ACC bball country….well that’s a different story all together…

Move out of state and see what people think of Indiana as a state. Answer…they don’t. Coming to IU has to be about 1) the program 2) the school 3) unfortunately now the bag. Feel free to argue the order. We have not had #1 since RMK. We still had residual cachet for a bit, but that shine isn’t there for most of the kids now. The only thing these 18-20 year olds have seen or know of IU is talk of the glory days and talk of a “cathedral” to basketball known as assembly hall unless they grew up in Indiana. we have name recognition, an awesome campus, a legendary court to play on, etc etc etc. what we don’t have is any CONSISTENT/PREDICTABLE success that any 20 year old has seen in their lifetime. Sadly we are just part of the mix now because tons of programs now have the money, and many have built solid programs. A revived Program is what we need. We just experienced what buying a team gets you. I hope CDD is the guy, I’ve grown numb to the mediocrity after decades. Let’s get the right players. I’ve waited this long. A few weeks isn’t going to kill me if he’s all about building a culture. P.S. I moved to the southeast, and yes, the amount of Dew consumed here is ASTONISHING

Is there a name for that when you rack up all 5 reaction emojis in one post?
  22. Was fortunate to see the 93 IUvMU game. Not sure I will ever experience that setting ever again. Loud isn’t descriptive enough, and it was from intros to the end. Lucked into seats right behind the UM bench. My new bride kept asking me who was farting (hilarious), it really did stink. And aside from the game itself I will always be amazed at how the fab dudes treated Fischer. Man, they were harsh to him. If you ever find the time, that’s a classic one to watch…should have hung another banner that year.
  23. 100%. Can’t even count the number of bafflers back in the day. It was like he lost to nobody’s on purpose. Big coach Knight fan here, but this board back in the day would have been interesting to say the least.
  24. Welcome to the full spectrum of emotions. If nothing else, it’s entertaining.
