It is highest seed always now. It used to switch in baseball and softball conference tourney till recently but now it is always higher seed.
Now need to do same in NCAA Tourney which still alternate based on a convoluted formula. 

Aaron seemed to believe that beating Northwestern should get us in but surely after advancing to the championship game should seal the deal.

Today's game against NW is likely the equivalent of a play-in game for an NCAA Tournament berth. Hoosiers are on bubble and possibly out with a loss today. With a victory, I'd be stunned if they don't make it.

Probably need to upset NW another time in Big Ten Tourney quarter finals for bid to NCAA Tourney. If only they had won that Wisconsin series then probably being Purdue would be sufficient. Now more work to do.  

Purdue pitchers basically imploded in the ninth inning and IU took advantage of the kind gesture to walk right through the proverbial door and steal a win. Walks, an error, and an infield single that could have been another error but was not scored that way did PU in. Hoosiers had trouble hitting the Boilermakers struggling starters but absolutely took advantage of a bullpen that could not do anything right all weekend.

I have never been overly impressed by Gearlds and am not surprised. The Big Ten coaches that impress me a lot are Moren, Shauna Green at Illinois, Robyn Frailick at MSU, Lisa Bluder at Iowa, Kevin McGuff at Ohio State. Those are the coaches that are special when it comes to recruiting and in-game strategy. 

Still tons of work to do for a postseason appearance but team playing much better now.
A brutal close to the season with the top three teams in the league is next as well as tough midweeks vs. Louisville and Cincinnati. Likely need to go 9-2 for a chance at NCAA Tournament (sweep home games, win at Louisville, take series at Purdue and Nebraska is most obvious) which will be extremely tough. 
Huge opportunity though to save the season if they perform as they have lately.

Really damaging weekend losing the series to a really bad Wisconsin team and nearly getting swept.
Not sure what happened, but this was not the team that has played all season and this likely took the team out of NCAA Contention baring a deep run in the Big Ten Tourney. IU lost their first six in league but that was to postseason teams. This was the first and only time outside of the non-conference loss to Gardner Webb, where they completely failed to perform in all areas vs. a struggling team. 
It comes at the worst possible time though. Shonda Stanton is building a great program and this weekend shows the ascension it is not always a straight line up. This weekend the moment got to big for them and they crumbled under pressure. They'll learn for the future, but it might well cost them the NCAA Tournament for 2024.

 I suppose 2024-2025 Ladies basketball season could be canceled.  It sounds like you have it all figured out.  Lol.

Don't go overboard. I 100% agree team is in top-15-25 team. However, with UCLA and USC in conference now as national powers they have little chance of competing for Big Ten title. 3-5 in league is likely though and a borderline host that is between a 4-6 seed in NCAA tourney.
 I have them right around 20 now as a 5-6 seed in postseason with potential to be higher if team gels and Meister and Beaumont take a step forward. 
Definitely reason to be excited for another great season but saying they are close to top-10 now or can compete with USC and UCLA for Big Ten Title without seeing how squad plays together yet is a bit of a stretch. I do trust Moren to get the most out of her players though and if we find out there is top 10-15 talent, team will get there. If it is top 20-25 roster that will be reflected in results as well. 
One thing you can be assured of is they will not underachieve and Moren will squeeze every last bit of the onion out of next season wherever that ends up.

Meister has an excellent shooting stroke.. Now she has to play with more purpose and confidence. Beaumont has a really high ceiling.
