  1. Not likely. No conference has every single game on regular TV. Ever Power 5 league has some games on ESPN Networks but the rest streamed on Watch ESPN in some form. There is no chance the Big Ten becomes the first conference to televise every single game nor should they. Now with that said, the Big Ten does need to put more games on regular TV as you said but it certainly won't be all of them. What the Big Ten does need to mandate is NO MORE one camera broadcasts like PSU did and even IU did Wednesday against Ball State. They need every stream to have full cameras like a TV broadcast like other conferences do when it is an online broadcast only. This is where the Big Ten really lacks. While IU is much better than most at usually making BTN+ broadcasts having as many camera's as TV, they do have a very occasional game like Wednesday with one camera and that needs to go. With the Big Ten adding instant replay likely next year (and yes it sounds like they are), the conference is going to need to mandate that every broadcast is done like a TV broadcast and no more one camera games. I know IU uses students and the issue Tuesday was between softball (which had a TV level broadcast on BTN+) and classes for some, they didn't have enough people in the media school to do two full camera games with both teams. This is where next year IU (and all other conference schools) are either going to need to hire full time people to run cameras or make sure before the season starts they have enough students accounted for and available for all broadcasts. Hopefully with the new league commissioner coming from MLB he will start to put down certain mandates (I.E. all broadcasts are now required to have full camera's like other conferences do when streaming online so instant replay can start) to make the league on par with the rest of the Power 5. Another thing that needs to happen is requiring all teams to have lights. Northwestern is now the last school to not have them because their stadium is in a neighborhood and the residents don't want night games. This is where the Big Ten needs to put the mandate down for lights and then see if the Evanston city council mysteriously allows them if it kicks the Wildcats out of the Big Ten (not fully just for baseball where their lack of being competitive most years is hurting the league). More likely they need a compromise like with Wrigley Field where lights can go in, but only a limited number (four home Friday Big Ten series) of night games are allowed. There is I hate nothing more than people that move next to a place that creates noise at night (I.E. Stadiums, Concert Venues, Airports, Train Tracks, ETC.) and then get mad when the sound is generated in the evening. If that bothers you move somewhere where there is not a venue that generates a lot of noise at night. Unless the venue goes in AFTER you moved in (which is usually not the case), you forfeit the right to complain about any noise it generates and part of me hopes that becomes a law someday.
  2. Starting with adding replay for the umpires as the Big Ten continues to be the only major conference without it for baseball.
  3. That Hollycross guy IU saw for five innings is probably the best arm they have seen this season and his numbers back that up (0.47 ERA). He went multiple shutout innings against very highly ranked Kentucky and Miami also so the Hoosiers are far from the first high powered offense he has completely befuddled . Just one of those days. Focus on winning the Iowa series which is most important. RPI will stay between 25-30 and keep team in position for an at-large bid should they win the games they are supposed to down the stretch.
  4. I was talking about missing the Final Four this season. It would def be nice to have sixth player for next year once Berger leaves.
  5. As hard as it is for IU fans to admit, Clark deserves every bit of hype she gets after tonight and it makes me feel dirty to say that but credit where it is due. This reminds me of 2015 when Wisconsin knocked off the seemingly indestructible undefeated UK team only to choke in the championship. Can Iowa become the first Big Ten team men or women to hang a banner since MSU in 2000? A Big Ten team has won a title once with PU in 99 on women's side.
  6. Just an FYI. VA Tech plays basically a six player rotation like IU did this year with Elizabeth Kittley leading them as an elite center into the Final Four. Clearly a short rotation with a star center works very well if you have 6 really good players (which IU and VA Tech do) playing all the minutes. Key is your star center has to stay healthy. Hokies big did. IU's did not with Holmes. That is the main reason the Hoosiers are not playing them tonight. Teams are pretty much clones of each other otherwise in similarly tough leagues they both won.
  7. 1000% yes. Although I am just joining the conversation now. As long as Holmes is healthy this team will be similar to last year competing for Big Ten Title with Iowa and OSU. What happens in tourney is crapshoot but they are absolutely a championship contender. I am not against adding someone but the team in its current form is easily top 5-10 nationally all year just as it was with Berger out in December and now you have time to prepare for her not being there.
  8. You put Parrish twice. Do we have another one coming in? I'd def take that. LOL
  9. Perfect Wazzu was only team IU could face before Elite 8 with a star center. Miami, Nova, and Florida Gulf Coast all guard heavy. Getting past elite 8 against Angel Reese or Alissa Pili will be nearly impossible without at least some form of Mack. However, even Nova who has Maddy Siegrist (who is every bit as good as Caitlyn Clark) has no good post players around her. IU struggled with Iowa in 2022 not because of Clark, but Czinano torching a gimpy Holmes. IU can limit star guards even with an injured Mack as long as they don't have to contend with a top post player as well. IU should be able to get to final 8 regardless of Holmes. Than they will need her or it will be goodnight Charlie.
  10. Earliest tip is 4pm. Latest tip is 10pm on Monday: https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/womens-ncaa-tournament-tv-schedule-2023-espn-abc/ As for Greenville, I have pieced together through different websites that IU will play on Friday at 2:30 pm or 5 pm and then Sunday at 7pm if they win for potential second weekend games. Men would also play Friday and Sunday but at 6:15, 7, 8:45, or 9:30pm on Friday and then Sunday at 2 or 455pm. Overlap will be minimal if at all if both teams get to Sweet 16 and Elite 8 despite playing on same days: https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/march-madness-tv-schedule-2023-cbs-tbs-tnt-trutv-ncaa-tournament/
  11. That's what you wanted. Nebraska is the weirdest team out there and at their best can beat anyone in this league by double digits but at their worst can lose to anyone by double digits. IU is a solid 15 points better than MSU if Hoosiers bring their best game and the only way Indiana loses is with a bad game. They could have beaten the Huskers by even more if you got the bad version of them but at their best that game is going to the wire even if IU brings their top form. Not a chance want to take given you have zero idea which Cornhsuker squad you get on a given day. Also, Nebraska would have been playing for a a sure trip to NCAA Tournament tomorrow. Spartans have zero chance of getting in without winning this conference tournament so less on the line for them.
  12. What I learned from tonight that confirmed a fear of mine: Woodson cannot scout or create a proper game plan against Iowa. Archie had the same issue against several other Big Ten teams, but ironically was excellent against the Hawkeyes. Woodson on the other hand is much better at preparing and creating game plans against Michigan, Purdue, and Illinois than either of our last two coaches. Given this, I fully expect to win Sunday against the Wolverines. Archie would have lost to PU and Michigan but won tonight. Woodson on other hand beat Purdue and will likely beat Michigan but lose to Iowa. Every coach has a team that has their number and for Woodson it is Iowa. As a result I have no doubt this is a one-off and team will win Sunday and a game or two in conference tourney as long as they avoid the Hawkeyes. On the women's side there is nothing more I want than another shot at Iowa in the championship of the Big Ten Tournament this Sunday after what happened a few days ago. Here on the men's team, I want nothing more to do with Iowa this season until Woodson can solve how to prep for the Hawks (hopefully by next season). Given how badly Woodson has done against Iowa, I fully expected what happened tonight and think it is a one-off.
  13. You are so way on the prices. Women's tickets are $10 generally (the $1 is a special promo once or twice a year) while the men are $56. Yes someone may pay well over $100 on the secondary market but IU does not see a penny of that. The bottom line is IU (in normal circumstances) makes $10 on a women's ticket and $56 on a men's ticket so about 5.5 times difference. Still substantial bit not close to the 100 times you said either.
  14. Yes Big Ten is that good.
  15. IU held on for the 2-0 victory.
  16. IU will stay A one seed unless they lose to BOTH Iowa and the Friday in the Big Ten Tourney in which case they could fall to a 2 seed. Now there is a different question that needs to be asked that is of incredible importance. What needs to be examined is what the team needs to do to stay a one seed in Greenville and avoid South Carolina until national championship game rather than being shipped to Seattle or facing South Carolina in Final Four. With that said, It makes zero difference if Indiana is the second or third one seed if they are passed by ONLY Stanford OR Utah (but not both) as team would still get Greenville as third one seed as the Cardinal or Utes would get Seattle as the second one seed and still avoid SC till final game. The key is to stay in front of Iowa, Maryland, LSU, and UConn for second one seed, so team does not get shipped to Seattle for Sweet 16 or Elite 8. Most importantly do not get past by two teams so you fall to fourth one seed and end up facing Gamecocks in semi finals rather than for national championship. I am confident IU is at least even with every other squad I mentioned above with their best game and superior to everyone else in college basketball not discussed in this post at their maximum. SC at their peak is five points better than Indiana so avoid them as long as possible (it does not mean our squad cannot win, it just means it is the only time you are starting out with an ever so slight disadvantage). For the Hoosiers to feel comfortable to remain as the second number one seed in Greenville, they either need to get to the Finals of the Big Ten Tournament if they lose this Sunday to Iowa or to Saturday of conference tourney if they beat the Hawkeyes this weekend. Otherwise it will be close as to whether they are second or third one seed (or lower) and every ideal scenario as I described above. It will depend on what these other teams I mentioned do to close here as well. IU is several losses better than everyone else besides South Carolina they are competing with and you are knocking them off a one seed way to easily in fear. What I described in all of this is accurate.
  17. Without Grace Berger in probably team's two worst games of season did we play these two squads. Nebraska has talent which is why they played so many teams close early, but appears to have an effort issue now ala OSU on men's side and cannot beat anyone anymore. MSU plays well at home and gives teams all they can handle there. Everywhere else its been a struggle for them. Biggest thing is Iowa and Maryland are on the other side of bracket so semi's will almost certainly be against OSU, Illinois, or Michigan who IU matches up very well against (I don't buy the notion it's hard to beat a team three times, especially when the Hoosiers are vastly better than all three of them). Hawkeyes, Terps, and Hoosiers are at minimum 10 points superior than anyone else in the league at their best. Also, no issue playing three games in three days in Minneapolis since team will have nearly two weeks off before hosting home games against bad and mediocre teams in NCAA's. Only thing team is playing for at this point before Selection Sunday (besides Big Ten Tourney championship) is to hold off Maryland, Iowa, LSU and Uconn for that other one seed in South Carolina (don't worry we can't play SC until Final Four if we are the other one seed in Greenville and if we stay at second or third one seed not until national title game) and not having to travel to Seattle (they have locked a one seed no matter what and Stanford will be routed to Seattle regardless of if they pass IU in pecking order) as a lower one seed for Sweet 16 and Elite 8.
  18. This season feels so much like 2011-2012. After a few bad seasons each team got of to a good start with a massive road win (2012 win at Xavier, 2023 wins at NC State). Conference play is up and down where team is dominant at home except for one fluke loss (Minnesota in 2012, NW in 2023). With only a couple exceptions, both teams struggle mightily on the road in conference (the exception being at Illinois this year and at Purdue in 2012 as both squads only won otherwise at a bad Minnesota team and beat middling PSU in 2012 and Michigan 2023). Also, both teams lost 80-65 on the road at MSU if you want strangest connection. Also, each upset a hated rival at home who was no. 1 at time (UK in 2012, PU in 2023) Both will be around the four or five line in NCAA Tourney with shot at Sweet 16. Was hoping for better but I'll take it after last few seasons. The only big difference though is that in 2011-2012 we had the worst women's team at IU of all time (6-24) and this year have the best one of all-time it appears (26-1). For that reason only, this winter exceeds 2011-2012 for IU basketball as on the men's side its basically the same thing.
  19. https://twitter.com/NU_Sports/status/1 This might be the most disingenuous statement I have ever seen and is embarrassing that NW put it out. Never mind it came a day late and a dollar short which is part of it. However, the fact that they claim to have one of the best and loudest crowds is a bald faced lie. To make that claim when half your crowd is opposing fans most nights is beyond dumb. Their student section is good, but otherwise it is much more like a tournament atmosphere where whichever team is doing well has the crowd behind them. You can’t have a great home court advantage when much of the crowd is rooting for the other team. It might prepare you well for the NCAA Tournament to have the mixed fans, but certainly doesn’t give you an elite home court as evidence by NW playing better on road.
  20. I would beg to differ. The (likely) 1-16 game in Assembly Hall will be a cake walk in the NCAA Tournament and a "D" game will win that. Also, the (likely) 1 vs 8-9 game in Big Ten and NCAA Tourney can probably be won with a good but not perfect effort (maybe a "B-"). Otherwise I would agree that the remaining conference showdowns, the final two days of Big Ten Tourney, and March Madness beginning in Sweet 16, will be against top 15 or better squads and Hoosiers will need to be at their best and bring an "A" mindset to emerge victorious. They hopefully can bring their maximum every time, but can get away with not doing so in the first three contests I mentioned (particular first NCAA game). Otherwise need they need to be in absolute top form to get where we want them to.
  21. You have one mistake. Students get in free with Student ID. It does not cost a $1 for them. The $1 tickets you are thinking off is for PU on senior day for all.
  22. Best news of night is BTN+ is no more after that debacle with those announcers! Every game going forward in both the regular and postseason will be on normal TV from here on out! I also think everyone is being a bit harsh on the team. It was indeed far from their best performance but it is hard to get completely motivated against a terrible team in a sleepy arena on a week night. I am sure the Hoosiers will play well and bring the 100% effort needed in their final six games against much tougher competition just as they have against every other good squad they have played so far this season.
  23. I think Iowa started breaking them and then IU finished it. Not surprising since Bucks have been missing their two best players to injury and were living on adrenaline victories for a long time. I kind of thought once they lost it might spiral a bit for them.
  24. As I said they are so ill-prepared which is why. NW students in last road BTN+ games were incredibly prepared and did an excellent job as do the IU students. If I was Minny's media school I would be embarrassed with their performance. I have muted them as I can't stand them which I rarely do.
  25. These BTN+ students are awful. It has nothing to do with their homerism towards the Gophers. I would expect that but they are very ill prepared. The NW students were very good which is last time I watched team on BTN+ on road. IU's students are excellent as well. These Minny students on other hand didn't do the proper preparation for broadcast.
