I think the burning desire comes from Hoosier pride so to speak. By that I mean, I want the kids from Indiana to want to go to IU because it's their destination school and I don't like IU getting scooped by other schools, pUKe, etc. Logically, I know at the end of the day, it's most important to get good kids who fit the program and understand what it means to represent the state, regardless of where they are from. Agree. MSU has had much more success and stability in recent times than IU so I think that's the difference there. As for Syracuse, different set of issues there.... Not sure IU will stoop to that level. Thankfully. It's so easy for a program to fall off and so hard to climb back up. No doubt IU is on the rise in both f-ball and b-ball. I think you are right on this, though if IU becomes a reasonably dominant force again, the tide will change. That influence will probably not be what it once was but IU can and should be a "destination school" as was stated above. The kids being recruited now don't know how important IU basketball, or for that matter, how important high school basketball once was in this state. And now back to Kris Wilkes.... I'm torn on this. I want the kids who want to be here and would gladly take an out of state kid who gets IU over an in-state kid who doesn't completely buy in. He's had another year to develop so hopefully he has improved. I would guess each week Lagow is getting more and more familiar with the system. I'm still hopeful that we between the two of them we can have a successful season. I don't expect the same offensive output as we saw with Sudfeld.
