I’m not defending Howard at all. He said 4 words while walking past him not even locking eyes. Blow by in sports especially basketball is not all that uncommon. Zero excuse for putting your hands on someone. I’m a college student and if someone said something to me while passing me (it has happened many times being a female) I don’t grab them by their shirt and escalate the situation. Howard wasn’t even attacking Gard personally. The blow by in itself was nothing until Gard wanted to make it into something by putting his hands on him. Both men (I use the term men loosely here) look like children. This isn’t Howard’s first time and Gard has just lost all respect.

100% I’m not defending Howard one bit but Gard deserves a lot of the blame as well. He had to be dragged away by Wisconsin police before Howard threw his punch and stood at center court as UM was being escorted back to their locker rooms yapping at them. Such a child. Both of them.

Howard never broke stride. Didn’t even look at him. Think what you want about the blow by but everything changes when Gard stopped him in his tracks and put his hands on him.

Wrong. UW staffer is seen in the video putting his hands on UM #44. He should be fired immediately.

You can make what you want out of the blow by and what was said and view Howard however you want but you can’t stop Howard and put your hands on the man in the world we live in. Howard didn’t break stride. Classic blow by. Pulled down his mask and said what he said and pulled back up his mask. Didn’t even look at Gard.

Wait what? Howard said what he said in passing. It was a classic blow by and you can’t physically grab someone the way Gard did in today’s world. Nope. Can’t happen. Gard instigated everything that took place by grabbing at Howard. Let him blow by and that’s the end of it but he chose to put his hands on the man.

Agree. At the end Gard is still at center court yapping at UM as they are leaving trying to be Mr. tough guy. If some want to call Howard a clown well that’s on them but Gard comes out of this looking really bad.

Gard initiated this whole thing by putting his hands on Howard to begin with. He grabbed and turned the man. I have no problem with the initial blow by from Howard and could care less what he said but what Gard did was unacceptable. Can’t put your hands on someone in this day and age. Just can’t do it. Howard obviously reacted in the worst way possible and will get his and rightfully so while Gard will more or less get off the hook. Before Howard threw down it was Wisconsin police having to pull Gard back because he was the aggressor. I also have a big problem with Badger staffers getting in the face and having words with UM players before Howard did what he did. These are student athletes and you can’t do that. There should be serious repercussions for that but it probably won’t happen. Howard will get his but Wisconsin comes out of this looking the worst to me and Gard trying to be a tough guy and instigating the whole thing while probably getting off the hook makes me sad. You can call Howard a clown if you want but Gard set this whole thing off by being Gard.

I guess I’m going against most here. I jumped on here to see the reactions. Howard should get a couple games in my opinion. That’s it. I will lead with it’s wrong for what he did taking it to that level. However, I only watched it once on my phone so maybe you can all correct me. It sure looked like their was a number of Badger coaches and staffers getting in the face of Howard and the UM players. It also looked like they were getting a little touchy with both Howard and a couple of his players before Howard did what he did. If I’m wrong I’m sorry but it sure looked like it. If any Badger staffer touched any UM student athlete they should be immediately fired and face legal action. My guess is Howard will get a few games and be forced to issue a insincere apology. Wisconsin will get a slap on the wrist. Everyone likes to pretend like Wisconsin is this clean cut program but their players are dirty and so is Greg Gard.

Can he make a 4’ with nobody guarding him?

That stinks. I really wish things would have worked out for him at UGA.

That’s fair. We will just disagree here. I’ll even take it one step further. If this happened during a run in the tournament they should still be suspended in my opinion. Makes no difference.

It’s still pretty strange why he sat that half. Woodson wouldn’t say anything about it whatsoever but was a little more forthcoming with the 2nd incident.

I was at that game. I thought the same thing. Maybe I’m wrong and that’s just how he plays but to me that was tough to watch.

The players suspended themselves by make a selfish and stupid decision.

The bottom line for me is that the players knew what the rule was and they knew the consequences for breaking the rule (suspension). The players are 100% at fault here and their teammates should have been pretty upset about it.

I’m not sure what you keep trying to get at here. CMW has already suspended Parker twice and has reduced his minutes and took away his starters spot (which is a huge deal to a player). He also got in his face for all to see after his skirmish with Davison. What do you want him to do? Kick him off the team because he struggles at basketball? CMW didn’t recruit him.

Nope. CMW has said that if his players violate team rules then the punishment is they don’t play. Simple. The players knew the deal. It’s their choice. Choices have consequences.

Team game. Team rules. CMW laid it out there. He loves his kids but his rule is if you violate team rules then you don’t play. No running stairs or whatever. The message is you don’t play period. I love it. I bet the players that did play were more upset with those 5 players than Woodson because everyone knows the requirements and expectations.

100%. This is what i have been trying to say but you said it better. 2/5 might not have even played and I would argue another one hurts us more than helps us being on the floor. No guarantees.

I have no idea how CMW views Parker. It’s just my opinion that he doesn’t move much on offense and is limited in other areas of the game. Maybe CMW looks at him differently but he has seen a steady decline in minutes and has lost his starting spot and has been suspended not once but twice so something is going on there.

We will just have to disagree here. Basketball is a team sport. Win or lose. CMW said if the players don’t follow the rules they won’t play. It’s quite simple. He didn’t want to suspend the players but they knew the ramifications for not following team rules. Even if it does cost our team a tournament berth (those players doesn’t guarantee a win; next man up) I think he is sending the right message.
