It’s not about him being good and putting up numbers. The team is better when he is on the court. Basketball is a team sport. When we have more options on the wings that might change but right now that’s the way it is.

Yes our offense looks a lot better when he is in the game. Both player movement and ball movement improve. It’s not all about him hitting shots or scoring but it leads to better shots and looks for others.

He just knows how to play the game like Galloway. He actually moves on offense and the ball moves when he is in the game. He had a play where he got open on the wing and instead of putting up the shot he took a couple dribbles in and fed Race for a easy layup. Simple play that none of our other wings make. He needs a lot more minutes at the expense of Kopp/Parker.

We won the game we all wanted against Purdue. We don’t win if TJD doesn’t get in foul trouble and plays big minutes. The offense looks a lot better with TJD on the bench and it’s not hard to explain. The CMW offense is predicated on 1 in and 4 out. That’s just his offensive philosophy. We can debate on wether that’s a TJD problem or a CMW problem but it’s not a good fit. This is why I keep saying our record will be better next year without him. It’s not all on TJD but that’s just how I see it. I also think some of our current players will continue to develop and we have a stud coming in and I’m sure we will kick around the portal. If we don’t have a better record next year I will have no problem admitting I’m wrong.

I’m not sure what your seeing but Kopp is very active with his hands and gets quite a few deflections. Having been to almost all our home games it’s really noticeable live plus you actually hear him talking on the court unlike some others. He is not first team all BIG or anything close to it but he is not a complete liability on that end. The biggest problem with him is we are not getting the offense we were expecting.

I said we will be a better team next year without TJD. Kopp has struggled offensively and we may not be getting what we expected from him but he is at least somewhat adequate on defense. Parker plays zero defense and is still getting way too many minutes. Leal absolutely needs more minutes. He has been ready to play each time his number has been called and he has really improved from last season.

It’s nice to get a win first and foremost. We had to have that. It was great to see X have a good game. He seems like a good kid and plays hard. He has had several really good games this year. Hopefully we see more of that. Kopp seems to take a lot of criticism on here. He had a couple of really bad plays but I would take him over Parker all day. Having said that, Anthony Leal needs more minutes. This game reinforces my belief that we will be better next year without TJD. I still feel confident saying that without knowing what the rest of the roster looks like (waiting for the guys on here that like to throw stats around to chime in). Did anyone catch his smirk after that missed free throw then he completely air balled the next one? What was that all about? I loved the reaction from CMW. Race Thompson is our best basketball player. We are better next year without TJD regardless but if Race comes back we have a chance to be really good. If Rob and Galloway get back we can compete with most teams and have a chance in most games.

X has had a handful of really good games before this losing streak. He may not shoot almost perfect again but he is more than capable of having really good games.

Why does Leal not play more? I mean come on.

That was Walsh’s position last year correct? I have heard Walsh was/is very good but I had never heard of this guy. Have to wonder if he is sitting in the right chair with everyone we have on our staff. I have to trust CMW knows what he is doing I guess *for now.

I have noticed him too and don’t know who he is or what title/role he has? Maybe someone that knows can shed some light on who is and what his responsibilities are?

I don’t know if he was fouled or not but he seemed to kind of indicate postgame that he was. Their was no way we were going to get that kind of call.

This is exactly right. I don’t know if it’s a TJD problem or a coaching problem but it’s why I continue to say we will be better next year with no TJD.

Absolutely. I think CMW has pretty much said as much especially at the point. He is going after them too. I really like everything I have read about the two coming in the next two years and we are in on the Little kid. We obviously have to find some kind of off guard that can shoot the ball and get buckets. I’m not sure we have that coming in and the portal is a game of roulette. I hope that the kid is already on the roster right now and will develop but I don’t know.

I appreciate Hoosiers who work on their games not just the ones that do a lot of talking but the ones that actually back it up. I appreciate Hoosiers that give 100% each time they take the court. I appreciate Hoosiers that aren’t smiling after they miss free throw after free throw and act like they would rather be somewhere else. I could go on and on. TJD is not one of the most under appreciated Hoosiers in a long time. He has a lot of fans. I’m in the minority here I know that I’m not a big fan of his as a player. But I have said in the past I hope he has a successful career in basketball wherever that may be and is successful in life. I just hope he is not back next year and believe we will have a better record next year without TJD.

What NBA career?

This team without TJD will be better. Don’t be fooled by the dunks and the beating on his own chest. He’s not bad at putting up a lot of empty numbers if that’s your thing. I will take Race back though.

Agree 100% I will add it looked like UW staff put their hands on a UM player. Their are a lot of calls for Howard to be fired (I think that is way too extreme) but if a UW staffer did indeed put his hands on a UM player in any way we even if not threatening I think you can make the case that person should be fired.
