BC up 4. UNC at the line for 2, 19 seconds left
-
BC up 2 with 42 seconds left and possession. 18 on the shot clock. UNC has only four fouls so assume they’ll play aggressively.

I’ll take that bet. He had a 26 and 12 game against Purdue where he made his only two three pointers all year. -

If admin retains him, it won’t be because of Harun Zrno. -
Penn State shot missed but was late anyway. Iowa hangs on.
-
Ace Baldwin had a wide open three with 13 seconds left, misses. Penn State rebound and inexplicably puts up an immediate off balance shot. Iowa with free throws, 2.8 seconds. Miss. Penn State rebound, time out. Clock reads 1.9 seconds but it will probably be put back to a little over two seconds. Penn State in bounds, 2.2/2.3 seconds left, have to go the length.
-
36 seconds left, Iowa timeout. 13 on the shot clock, Iowa ball up 1. Unless Iowa hits a three or gets a rebound, Penn State should have a shot to win or tie.
-
Ball don't lie miss for Iowa on the free throw....Penn State fouled on the ensuing possession (although it looked clean, LOL). Penn State down 1, 76-75, 53 seconds left, Iowa ball.
-
Penn State making a late run. Review of a play now where a foul was called on Ace Baldwin but it's pretty clear that the Iowa player hooked his arm and wouldn't let go. Have to see what they call on the replay. LOL......they say it 'stands as called'. BS.

I do think that good teams are going to figure ways to exploit the amount of time they have the two seven footers on the floor at the same time. That said, what USPS said about them playing with house money goes even further -- they weren't supposed to be this good this quickly given it was a completely late rebuild.

Hot take: Trey Kaufman-Renn will play his way into the draft combine and stay in the draft.

people concerned that we make the tournament and he stays because of optics? Short of making the tournament and actually getting a first round win, are the optics of firing a 66 year old coach with elite NIL who has never been to the round of 32 really bad optics? Cause I don’t see it. This team was picked to finish second in the conference. -

Not a Domer, but here is what I have read: PFF rated Coogan (72.1) and Spindler (70.5) as the second and third best starting lineman of the eight lineman Notre Dame used this year. Both have lost their starting jobs earlier to younger players and this could happen again as Notre Dame has some really good, young offensive lineman. Both Coogan and Spindler started this season as backups but both took over the starting jobs in week three due to injuries and started the rest of the way. Uncertainty that could happen again probably is leading to their departures -- doesn't really look like it was because they played poorly but rather the staff going with younger players who are at about the same level. Between them, they started 49 games while at Notre Dame. Spindler played through shoulder and ankle injuries the last seasons, starting last year and starting all but the first two games this season. He got injured and missed the second half against IU this season but returned for the rest of the playoffs. Chan, the third guy mentioned, only took 6 offensive snaps this season. Mostly a special teams lineman. Was ranked as the 13th best tackle in 2022 but Notre Dame is stacked at OL. TL;DR: Spindler was solid at Notre Dame and caught in a numbers and youth game. Would likely be our top or one of our top OL were he to transfer to IU. -

Need to keep in mind that he visited IU on Jan 9 when they beat USC.....so prior to the back-to-back 25 point losses. Woodson's job might have looked a little safer then. -

Quinn Buckner's term on the IU board is over on July 1st. I doubt he carries the weight he use to.....on a board where you may see 'group think' occur (sorry Kathy, no one buys into your thoughts that it doesn't) people often vote in fear of having their own pet projects tabled. Buckner's unspoken threats don't hold much power given he's gone four months after bball ends. -

No one should ever listen to Isiah on how to run an organization. Ask the Knicks, or better yet.....ask the CBA which he singlehandedly destroyed. Or ask Florida International. In terms of the Simons influence, I doubt that it is 100% with blinders on. The Pacers definitely didn't get overly sentimental when they trade Oladipo away at the right time. -

Yes, and regardless of their own reality of whether or not they were on the hot seat they would be. There isn't a downside as I mentioned before -- if Woodson is gone, you just have a decommit from a player who you wouldn't have had if IU not recruited him. And quite simply if the NIL is good, a player might stay anyway. I really can't think of any player that transferred AWAY from Indiana because of NIL....only ones that transferred away because of playing time. -
Could make it tough on IU but it is actually a team that we might match up with okay with two bigs considering they play Reese and Queen together.

I get it, but man......you need new material. -
I hate to keep harping on him, but the kid I really wanted IU to go after in the portal last year was Tobi Lawal....mentioned him earlier in this thread. I thought he was a perfect guy to play the four, rotating behind Ballo and Reneau. Also knew he was very raw but could leap like no one else AND he had not been playing basketball that long (grew up in England). As a freshman at VCU, he was a guy who was an end of the rotation guy -- 5.6 minutes per game. Big jump as a sophomore, averaged 18.9 minutes, 7.7 points, 6 rebounds. Pretty quiet when he hit the portal and ended up at Virginia Tech where he leads them in both points and rebounds (12.5 and 6.5). One thing I did like about him was he had a developing perimeter game to go along with his outstanding athleticism. Only took 7 threes last year (made 3)...this year, to go along with 60% shooting from the field, is hitting 46% of his threes (17 of 37, including 7 of 12 in his last three games). Kid is going to play in the NBA someday IMO. The athleticism and raw tools are just too much to ignore and if he were at IU, playing him at the 4 over Reneau would have solved a LOT of problems because he's capable of guarding multiple positions. And he's a great kid. Here is a feature Va Tech did on him.

I'm a sucker for the Big Ten Tournament -- particularly in Indy, which is by far the best venue for it (United Center blows because there is literally nowhere to go between sessions). Get tickets any time it's in Indy or Chicago and went ahead and got tickets for Wednesday through Friday this year. FWIW, Wednesday tickets are incredibly cheap right now and it will still be decent basketball -- 9 through 14 seeds since the 15-17 aren't in it. And the games on Wednesday start at 3:30 and have 25 minute breaks between, so one ticket gets you three games. I was able to get two tickets for a total of $64 AFTER fees and they were in the 100 level.
