I'm not sure that any coach is actually a home run by themselves. Seems more likely it would be a combination of factors that would create a home run "situation". Certainly the coach, but also the institution, the assistants, players, timing, luck....... I think this is in part why people talk about the fit.

See that's part of my problem with him. I don't believe there is such a thing as a new JBJ. We've seen what he is for three years. Why not believe who he has shown you he is?

Right. Glass is a lawyer. If he were in private practice, he would have his team of lawyers and assistants researching witnesses (expert or otherwise) to find out their credibility, reliability, background history and on and on. Since he is an AD instead, I can see him using a firm such as Parker to do similar research on candidates he assigns to them.

What has Glass said or done, that we are sure he has said or done, that makes you think that? Let's face it. Everything we are hearing or reading is second or third hand.

Seriously? You think past players should have no input? I'd argue they are more qualified than most other groups of people, including boosters, donors, and message board posters!

Oh, I know. On the other hand he could have said something like "Why are you asking me about that? I'm trying to get this team ready for a playoff run." Now, that would be a case of avoiding an answer WITH an answer. I just hope this forum doesn't come down with a fatal case of celebrating too early. You know what I mean? We've all seen it with players. A guy will hit a shot with seconds left to put his team up by a point. The guys on the floor start celebrating too early, and the other team goes on to score the actual game winning points. Hope that isn't the case here.

Wait. Did you mean to say "Glass did say this would happen" simply meaning he would talk to HS coaches about it?

Maybe some of the posters here who know various HS coaches could ask them their opinions on some of these candidates. I would be very interested in what impressions they have of these guys. What were their previous interactions with them like?

It wasn't just the players they didn't have access to. Crean was never on their shows, while Painter and Holtmann were each on at least once a week.

Well, there was a Barry from a previous generation who was pretty darn good at doing it that way. Remains his claim to fame, even in commercials.
