That's fair. The problem that must be solved is, how far down the list of candidates does IU have to go before they'll consider, realistically, hiring him. If he didn't have a DV incident we'd probably be talking about how great a fit he'd be. Then again, if he didn't have a DV incident he's probably doing big things at Texas right now and not looking to leave

There's apparently no bad hires if you listen to half the garbage on this site lol I've seen people go from Stevens and May, to now suggesting that Brownell would be a better hire than Beard. Laughable sir, laughable. But hey, we're Indiana and stuff, greatest basketball in the land. EVERYBODY should he able to make it here with our resources, right?

It's not just Ole Miss, it's his entire body of work. Sounds an awful lot like you're trying to compare him to Brownell. For the record, you're the only person I've heard try to make this comparison or even hint that Brownell is better.

The thing is, Ole Miss has already taken that "hit" for everybody. Will there be a small contingent of IU fans and certainly beat writers *cough* Gregg Doyel, that aren't pleased? Sure. **** em, I want to see winning. Beard having the success albeit not massive success at Ole Miss looks more impressive to me given the fact that Ole Miss ISN'T a basketball school. For all the talk about McDermott or McCollum being able to see success given our resources, it's safe to say that Beard would be equally, if not more successful given the same resources. If Brownell is the hire, I won't immediately cut off or stop watching the games, but picking him over someone like Beard will definitely shorten my attention span for that program

Incredible, we're staring down the barrel of a potential Brad Brownell hiring and Beard, the only guy who's been widely known to want this job, is basically out on an island. This ******* program i tell you. I guarantee you that 90% of the fanbase would rather see Beard than Brownell.

The odds aren't surprising. Given the slow bleed of information regarding the "top tier" coaches not interested, McDermott and McCollum were the likely candidates out of the rest. Thought it was hilarious that Stevens wasn't even on that list. Kind of like he's not been that close all along. Looks like I'm watching Drake and Creighton from here on out fellas. -Fran

Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE it if Stevens were coming. However, like @Ghost of Rick Majerus stated, it makes no logical sense for IU to employ a search firm if he were already the guy. Odds are that he was out when Goodman first posted about it.
