  1. I watched most of that video, and it's a good one. My takeaway is McCollum's offense can work at any level of basketball, but as others said it requires quick processing, good decision making, and unselfishness. Those are skills like any other that can be developed, and his success indicates he's good at teaching them. I also think his offense has the potential to attract high level players as the ball screen motion offense he is running develops skills that are really coveted in the NBA now - good decision making and proficiency at finishing both inside and from behind the arc.
  2. Either Dolson is doing a great job keeping this search close to the vest... or he's an undiagnosed schizophrenic that's just hired 5 different imaginary coaches.
  3. Dolson has kept it buttoned up to everyone's chagrin here, but he can't stop external speculation. As a head coach, talking to the press is part of the job and you don't get to pick the questions.
  4. Personally, I've always thought of BM as #2.
  5. Ron, would you also happen to know the best place to get treatment for herpes? Asking for a friend.
  6. Man this is fun... I don't know what I'm going to do at work when this coaching search is over.
  7. If it's Brownell then just give Woody another year, and let's try again next year. I'd much prefer 1 more year of Woody with some hope for next year, than being subjected to 4 years of Brownell.
  8. Billy D looks ready to come to Bloomington.
  9. How about Brad #3… Brad Underwood. He’s gone 80-39 at Illinois the last 5 years in the Big Ten. He won a conference title in ‘22 and finished second in ‘21 and ‘24. He went to the elite 8 last year. Brad #3 has a sustained track record of success in the Big Ten. I’d take him over many of the other names being floated.
  10. How about Brad Town Beards?
  11. Anyone else think Rabby talked Beard up as a PSYOP to stoke division on BTB and make this thread unreadable?
  12. There is a BIG difference between winning in the Missouri Valley Conference and winning in the Big East. Comparing McDermott’s success to the others is apples and oranges.
  13. I'm not sure why McDermott is viewed as low ceiling. He's 8-4 in the tournament the last 4 years with 2 sweet sixteens and an elite eight. He's finished top 3 in the Big East (a P5 conference) in 8 of the last 9 years, and the one miss was a 4th place finish. How many candidates have a better recent history than him? Why can't he improve on those stellar results with IU's resources and better players?
  14. Good job everyone... I set the bate, and nobody took it. Still trying to figure if this is a picture of one jerk or two.
  15. I’d say it’s more likely he goes on a rant about cork taint.
  16. I love Cig and he was a great hire... but Fitzgerald was also a proven coach, and hiring him would have been a real sign that we were serious about trying to turn the football program around. Trying to hire Fitzgerald is not a blot on Dolson's record to me, but rather it's proof that he's serious about finding winners.
  17. The track record of college coaches leaving for the NBA and then returning to college is decidedly NOT a disaster. Pitino, Calipari, Sampson, Lon Kruger, Larry Brown, Mike Montgomery, and Hoiberg to name a few off the top of my head. All were quite successful after their return to college, other than Hoiberg (who is still TBD).
  18. In the nine years before Larry Brown arrived, SMU had a winning record once. I’d call winning 71% of his games in 4 years a wild success.
  19. Agreed on McDermott's success in the Big East, which brings up a pet peeve of mine. Of the last 8 national champions, 4 have come out of the Big East (including the last 2). In that time period the Big East has sent an average of 5 teams to the tourney each year. So why do we keep referring to P4 coaches, when it's clearly a P5 situation in college basketball?
  20. I think you are underestimating the fanbases ability to come together over a new coach that isn’t named Woodson. Most fans talked themselves into Woody after 4 years of Archie. We’ll easily talk ourselves into Cronin or Collins or even (gulp) Brownell after 4 years of Woody.
  21. Brownell has pretty much replicated Clemson’s level of success from the 16 years before he arrived. Rick Barnes (‘94-‘99): 74-48, 60.6% Larry Shyatt (‘99-‘03): 70-84, 45.4% Oliver Purnell (‘03-‘10): 138-88, 61.1% TOTAL (‘94-‘10): 282-220, 56.2% Brad Brownell (‘10-‘25): 288-194, 59.7% I dont see an over achiever. I see an average to slightly above average coach. He has no appeal to me.
