Absolutely agree. Four years as a player = great legacy. Four years as head coach = massive failure. Overall rating: average... maybe slightly negative as someone who overstayed their welcome. The halo effect also causes Buckner's legendary status to tank... he chose his buddy over the university that gave him whatever success he had achieved. The nepotism factor here is huge. Then there's the fiduciary issue with protecting the interest of Indiana University vs serving their own interests and making Woodson richer than he would ever have been without their misguided influence.

This, friends, is where we find ourselves. These contrasting views of Indiana basketball, Mike Woodson and handwriting on the wall. Woodson's hubris makes sympathy and even compassion difficult for many. Woodson needs to go -- sooner rather than later.. and the $20M in salary and parting gifts for what he's given us over the past 4 years makes me want to call hellfire and brimstone down on him. I'm not finding a lot of room, personally, for sympathy or compassion.

Not really concerned about that. We've been a bad basketball school for 25-30 years... optics are not what we, as a fan base (and them as the administration) should be concerned with. Optics have continued to drive us downward for the past 25-30 years...

As long as he's not here next season, I'm good with it. Running him off before then would be good, but it's not a necessity. As far as the optics for the potential candidates going forward, they're big boys, and they know how the college coaching carousel works... and typically, they have egos big enough to believe that what happens to Woodson would not happen to them. I am not the least but concerned about the optics of getting Woodson out before the end of the season. I am buckled in for the ride, and expect it to be a bumpy ride.

I was thinking about this as the game unfolded last night... some of these guys are willing to lay it on the line to keep Woodson on the sidelines, but only when his back is absolutely against the wall. Why haven't these guys played with the same reckless abandon from the start of the season? Why has this fervor not been on display all season this far? It's doing the bare minimum to keep the crap fest rolling. No more. No less.

"First Four Out" is still out. Kind of like that there's no such thing as "a little bit pregnant".

Nothing has changed... all of the insiders saying something could be announced "this weekend" and guess what? It's still "this weekend". Woodson pulled out a win of the slimmest margin over a 2-4 team. No one is walking back the "he gone" narrative. He's toast.

Yeah, it's largely about ROI. If the 'I' is large, then the expected 'R' is likewise large.

Imagine if he had really tried for the past 4 years... going through the motions and spewing platitudes isn't coaching... unfortunately for Woodson, it's way too little, way too late...

Absolutely agree. Woodson taking his team to Columbus and beating a 2-4 team in overtime after blowing a 10 point lead with under 4 minutes to go doesn't move the needle at all. He will be gone before IU plays again at home. Dead. Man. Walking.

He's blocked a lot of us... didn't care for the criticism.

Man, I hear you and tend to agree ... but it sure feels like we've all seen this movie before ... I keep looking at Cignetti and telling myself to "trust the process".

Anything that gets Woodson out of town is a win... the results with an interim will be no worse that with the Parasite King.
