  1. Good. Now if we hear the same thing about Alford, I'll be able to sleep well for the time being.
  2. UCLA plays in Sacramento.
  3. Alford would come here and probably be the exact same as Crean. Win the conference once or twice, get to a few Sweet 16s, but also have frustrating seasons of 19-12 or 17-14 sprinkled in between. Then after 6 years we'd want him run out of town like the last guy, which would forever tarnish the legacy he has at IU.
  4. They'd be nuts to release him from his LOI though without a valid reason from Waters. This is almost unprecedented, as high school seniors only request releases from their LOI if there's a coaching change. As of right now, that hasn't happened. An example of this actually happened a few years ago in football with Eddie Vanderdoes of UCLA, who claimed he had a sick grandmother he wanted to be close to, rather than go to Notre Dame, after he had already signed his LOI. Notre Dame denied him his release, it went to the NCAA, where they oddly ruled in favor of Vanderdoes, meaning he didn't have to sit out a year at UCLA. This whole thing is strange. The only PR nightmare that would ensue from this is if Georgetown had fired Thompson III, Waters asks for his release, but his request is denied by GTown. The request for release always comes after the public announcement of a coaching change.
  5. True but wouldn't Waters have to sit out a year since he has signed his LOI? I'm 99% sure that's the case.
  6. How the heck can Tremont Waters do that? There's no way Georgetown will let him out of his LOI, so he'll have to sit out next year regardless, right?
  7. That's an odd choice to make one of the top-paid coaches in the country. I think they should try and pry Hoiberg away from Chicago, but that'll be an interesting vacancy to keep an eye on because they're rumored to also be targeting Cuonzo Martin, who is also on Mizzou's list.
  8. Another board said De'Ron, Green, and Gelon are all likely to transfer. I wouldn't be surprised to see Robert Johnson graduate and head to Virginia for a year, totally speculating though. He just looks unhappy and "over it" right now. Who knows what will happen when the dust settles.
  9. Ehh I'm not so sure about that I want that dance to happen. A lot of these AAU coaches I don't want any part of. Not all of course, but some are just out for themselves, and I couldn't care less if they have an Indiana kid on their travel league team. And also, Steve is an arrogant a$$. He is eventually going to rub someone the wrong way.
  10. Does anyone honestly think Indiana high school players care about Steve Alford at all? Alford was a good player and all, but I hate to break it to those who expect him to "lock down the state": 18 year kids today don't give a sh1t about what Steve Alford did 30 years ago.
  11. Well it is stupid. Rooting for the coach to be fired after winning a national championship maaaaaaay have a tendency to cause potential coaches to think twice before considering the IU job. And to "know there's no way he'd do it again" is going out on a limb just a bit.
  12. Wow. That is stupid.
  13. Man this is crazy. You'd never think this is a BTT game.
  14. I don't get it either. It's not like he's Alford and tried to cover up a freaking rape The guy has won everywhere he's been. He's been a regular in the tournament at schools like freaking Winthrop and Wichita State. Give him IU's roster this year and I'd bet we'd be approaching 25 wins right now. He's been to a freaking Final 4 at Wichita State. He's a great coach.
  15. Someone needs to post the Athletic Director's email and just flood his inbox, pleading not to hire Alford. This can't be possibly happening.
  16. Are they relocating IU to Los Angeles?
  17. No doubt. I'd rather have Archie or take a flier on Fife instead of Alford. DO NOT WANT.
  18. In a manner of speaking, yes.
  19. True, and who knows, maybe an IU booster owns or is high up in that software company and let us use his plane. Not that far fetched at all.
  20. Marshall. Can't argue with his results. Only drawback is his ability to recruit Indiana and the midwest, but I think if he recruits at least as well as Crean did, we'd be competing every year for a conference title. The guy has done nothing but win everywhere he's been.
  21. Agree, the only thing that gives me pause is whether or not he has the energy/desire for another rebuild. Then again, maybe that's what he specializes in. Bringing a program back from the ashes into respectability.
  22. Exactly. Otherwise he would have just done what Stevens did and said "no". I trust 0708 over there, he's not blowing smoke. We could have something on our hands here...
  23. Is it odd that I just can't get excited about Archie? I would take him and he'd be a good fail-safe, but we'd have to strike out with Donovan, Marshall, Sean Miller, and Bennett for me to want Archie. I hope it doesn't get that far.
  24. A flight left Bloomington for Dayton today, according to Flight Aware.
  25. Super hot take right there.
