Offered 2/17/17. Shooting guard C.J. Fredrick is becoming one of the more intriguing prospects in the Midwest. He already has a pair of high-major offers, and a few more visits are upcoming. Class of 2018 shooting guard C.J. Fredrick was off to a tremendous start to his junior season before suffering an ankle injury. Fredrick is expected back in time for the state tournament, and is doing everything possible to help his team while recovering from his injury. “When I was healthy, it was about being able to consistently knock down shots and also get better off the dribble,” noted Fredrick about the season. “Now that I am hurt I have focused on getting stronger and working on my upper body strength. Also I am trying to stay active with my shooting and ball handling.” C.J. Fredrick 6'4" / 165 lbs SG RANK NR OFFERS 2 For Fredrick the last month has been tough, but he knows he has to remain an active participant on his team, and is just trying to help however he can. “It is difficult to watch your team and not be able to help, but I know I have to help anyway possible, but it is definitely tough,” noted Frederick. Despite the injury Fredrick hasn’t seen his recruitment slow down. He has offers from Iowa and Xavier, and interest continues to come in from Butler, Cincinnati, Indiana, and others. Fredrick’s uncle, Joe, played for Iowa boss Fran McCaffery when McCaffery was an assistant at Notre Dame, and the family has remained close over the years. About the Iowa interest, Fredrick said, “I love the whole coaching staff. I like how they move the ball and play for each other. Coach Fran is a good guy and he says I’d fit in perfectly with my ability to pass and make shots.” Xavier is located only minutes from Fredrick’s house, making it easy to get to the Big East school, and he continues to build a strong bond with Chris Mack and his staff. “They have great coaches,” said Fredrick of Xavier. “I am communicating with them a lot, and I pop over there every once in a while. We continue to build our relationship, and I like how they play and use their guards like J.P. Macura.” At this point Butler and Indiana haven’t offered, but Fredrick is planning to visit each program soon, and is intrigued by the two schools. About Indiana, he said, “I love the fast pace that they play, and I am excited to see a game there live. I’ve heard they have a great atmosphere for games and I can’t wait to see it.” When it comes to Butler, he added, “I haven’t been there for a game yet, but I like Hinkle Fieldhouse and I am looking forward to seeing their style of play in person.” At the moment Fredrick says he is in no rush to make a commitment, and is simply focused on getting back healthy and on the court. http://www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1748747-visits-upcoming-fredrick Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Fred Glass on the state of IU Athletics
Uspshoosier replied to HoosierCoop's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
On a Maryland game broadcast on BTN they put up a graph of who has played the toughest schedule so far and at the time we had played the toughest. They compared Maryland to us last year since we won it and played the second easiest B1G schedule. So far Maryland has played the easiest schedule Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

SCOUT Independent coverage of Basketball Recruiting Jeremiah Francis Jeremiah Francis talks early interest from the Big Ten and more BRIAN SNOW 10:05 AM Point guard Jeremiah Francis is one of the best in the 2019 class, and he already has a ton of interest, and several offers from high-major schools. Class of 2019 point guard Jeremiah Francis is having a tremendous sophomore season. Francis is showing his ability to score and distribute, and continues to rack up high-major interest and offers. About his season, Francis said, “The year has been great. We’ve were undefeated for a while, so we have a great team and we are working hard to be as good as we can be, and hopefully win a state title.” Jeremiah Francis 6'1" / 190 lbs PG RANK NR OFFERS 3 He continued, “I’ve been working on being someone who scores from all three levels. I know I have to get better in the mid-range, and also I am working hard on my pull ups and floaters in the lane so I can be effective there without big guys blocking my shot.” On the recruiting side of things Francis is taking it all in, but already numerous schools have stepped forward with offers and interest. “I’ve been talking to Purdue, Indiana, Miami, Creighton, Ohio State, Nebraska, West Virginia, Ohio University, and a few other schools,” listed Francis. Francis is a legacy recruit for Ohio State. His father played for the Buckeyes in the 80’s, and Francis says he stays in touch with the coaching staff, though at this point there is no offer. “My mom and my dad graduated from there so it is all in the family,” said Francis of Ohio State. “It is in the bloodlines, so of course it would be really good to have the opportunity to go there.” When it comes to his communication with the staff, Francis said, “My dad and Coach (Chris) Jent are really close and they always talk. I love Coach Jent. We’ve been talking, it has mostly been me and Coach Jent talking.” One school that has offered and is making Francis is a major focus is Purdue. The Boilermakers have been extremely active in the recruitment, and continue to build a good relationship with Francis. “I love Purdue,” said Francis of the Boilermakers. “I went there when I was younger when they were going through a lot of construction, and now that I see it today and see the campus it is great. You can walk to the gym from the dorms, and I know it is a place I can get better, so I like it a lot.” Also Indiana has picked up the interest in Francis. The Hoosiers continue to show attention, and he likes the atmosphere around Bloomington. “I know a lot about Indiana,” explained Francis. “It is a basketball state, and the atmosphere is great there. Coach (Tom) Crean is a great coach, and I talk to the assistants a lot. I think it is a good school.” For now Francis says he is in no hurry to select a school, but he is looking to continue to build relationships, and improve on his game. Michigan is streaky. If they are hitting jump shots it could be a long night. They beat a good Smu team. I'm not saying they are world beaters but any road game will bring a different challenge. I would guess Michigan and northwestern will be favored going into these games Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

A couple of examples of the committee not caring how a team finishes would be last year Syracuse finished losing 4 of their last 5 games with a 19-13 record heading into the tournament. In non conference that year they had 2 early wins in the November battle for Atlantis that helped them. Committee gave them a 10 seed. In my projections last year I had them out. Another would be our Hoosiers a couple years ago. Iu lost 6 of their last 9 games heading into the tournament. They were 20-13 and 9-9 before the tournament( with a loss to eastern Washington at home) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Committee got rid of how teams are playing at end of year about 5 years ago. They use to weigh the last 12 games played but don't anymore Their stance is a win in November is just as important as one in march. After taking lunardi's class online through st joes on bracketology I have a better appreciation of how hard committees job really is. I know I'm a basketball junkie. Since taking that class I look at teams differently now when judging teams Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
