And still more recognition for Mackenzie. Indiana junior forward Mackenzie Holmes was named one of 10 to the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award watch list, announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Named after the three-time All-American,1994 National Player of the Year and Class of 2015 Hall of Famer, the annual award in its fifth year recognizes the top centers in women's NCAA Division I college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates in November, which has now been narrowed to 10. Holmes is Indiana's leading scorer this season, averaging 17.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and shooting 61.5 percent from the floor in 14 games. The Gorham, Maine native leads the way with three double-doubles this season and has 3-point range to her game by shooting 45.5 percent on the season. She was named a preseason All-Big Ten selection, The Athletic Preseason All-American honorable mention, Wade Trophy midseason watch list and Wooden Award midseason top 25 honoree. She has been sidelined for Indiana's last six games with a knee injury. College basketball fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. In late February, the watch list of 10 players for the 2022 Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award will be narrowed to five. In March those finalists will be presented to Ms. Leslie and the Hall of Fame's selection committee where a winner will be selected. 2022 Lisa Leslie Award Candidates Queen Egbo Baylor University Ayoka Lee Kansas State University Elissa Cunane North Carolina State University Jenna Staiti University of Georgia Mackenzie Holmes Indiana University Monika Czinano University of Iowa Shakira Austin University of Mississippi Aliyah Boston University of South Carolina Tamari Key University of Tennessee Elizabeth Kitley Virginia Tech -

Galloway just kicked the snot out of Holy Innocents 78-41 hitting 18-31 3-pointers. Wilson is clearly the best player on Holy Innocents and finished with 20p 3r 1a 0s 3b 3t. He showed visible frustration several times when teammates failed to get him the ball when he was wide open. Interesting to watch so many high school games coming from different parts of the country. For example, at the Galloway gym, people strolled from one side of the court to the other between quarters and little kids went on the court and shot baskets. I've noticed during the games involving Mt. St. Joseph (Bryson Tucker) how far on to the court the coaches stray while the games in progress. The other night, one of the coaches actually walked in front of an official while the game was underway.

Post-game from Seth Tow -- I asked Teri Moren if the timeline for Mackenzie Holmes was still for her to miss the rest of the regular season, and she said "I wouldn't say that. I think you'll see her back sooner than later." Moren said Holmes is on the court working with assistant coach Rhett Wierzba, not with the rest of the team yet, but she's doing more and more every day. Certainly sounds like Holmes could return before the end of the regular season. Teri Moren also expressed optimism about Nicole Cardaño-Hillary's ankle tweak that caused her to leave tonight's game in the 3rd quarter. "I think she'll be fine. She was walking on it."
