Take the top five coaches that you can come up with then eliminate them. With Glass as AD, there is little chance of a good pick. He is of the belief that we need top ATHLETES, not players that can exhibit some team work, stay out of trouble, etc..., As we've seen, any decent coach can put together a decent season or two based on athletes, but Until we get back to expecting excellence on AND off the court, things will never return to greatness with any longevity attached to it. Better to get a transition coach to change the culture first(I.e. Kieth Smart) and rebuild the right way.

IU fans, don't count on a big namer. Mike Lightfoot may be tapped as a short-term transition coach. Mike is the winningest coach in NAIA history who recently announced his retirement from his 31-year coaching position in northern Indiana. Realize, the IU coaching change Is as much about getting back to fundamentals as it is winning. The walk down the floor clear-out for penetration kick for a three is FUNDAMENTALLY unsound. It lacks in rebounding opportunities, consistent scoring, and is high in turnovers. IU basketball, sad to say, is no longer a premier program as evidenced by poor attendance despite seats sold. For decades,(even the Samson years) the seats were filled with excited fans. That has not been the case over the last couple of years.

What screwed AT was the fact that he was drafted by a terrible Phoenix Cardinal team that had a rookie offensive line that left him punished. It shortened the career of a great, durable college back that held touchdown, game yardage, and carry stats that took decades to break. Forty carries a game was not unusual for him. For those of us around in '87-'88, and who know AT, he is one-of-kind. I wish Coleman well, and hope that if his career ends early, he can find the same contentment AT has.

Not saying Coleman didn't do well in his time here, just that it'd be nice to see him finish the job. Interested to see though, if his departure will come into play should IUSB have another substandard season.

Here's a perfect example of what college sports has come to.

I understand sports these days, that's the problem. It used to be that college athletes took pride in representing their schools, and valued a degree. They were team oriented instead of 'me' oriented. Thompson could have left IU early, but instead played a fourth year and continued to help his team win. Too bad college sports are not for student-athletes anymore. It's all about the money. The fact that all big ten games are ESPN or another pay network, ads are displayed in Assembly Hall, and that the hall is soon to be renamed for its latest donor is disappointing.

Our defense still sucks, but to Wilson's credit, he has control over his players and staff enough to get bad publicity buried before anyone can raise a ruckus. Wilson will not get us to a bowl game, and will never break .500 in big ten play. Stoops may be available for the Wilson job after this season though.

How many lame excuses will continue to flow to cover the fact that Wilson is just a poor coach? Here's the real tipoff, for you Wilson die-hoards, goes right to character. After giving up 571 total yards and losing to Bowling Green, in Wilson's comments on the radio with Fischer, he immediately expressed that 'in a close game like this, He told Del Grosso that we can't afford to miss field goals.' What a jerk! If that is the kind of self-serving son of a b that is running this program, it's no wonder we can't win. The man will throw anyone under the bus to save himself. How can a coach rationalize a loss in a 90 point game by saying that a single field goal should determine the outcome of a 60 minute game. A good coach would take the blame for not using the other 59:56 outside the kick attempt. Let's at least try to restore integrity to IU football by canning dumbbell, and hiring someone, anyone of honor.

And for you younger listeners, this downhill slide began because Varsity Club members influenced former AD Clarence Doniger to can IUs winningest coach, Bill Mallory for not getting us to the Rose Bowl during the height of Big Ten football. The Peach, All-American, Liberty and others were not good enough for us. Now we link Student Football tickets with Basketball, just to sell student tickets! What B.S. The jerks who supported trashing our upper-half football program have been passing out the Jim Jones Kool-Aid with every coach since. Let's ditch coach style points and phony talk for a REAL blue-collar, lunchbox carrying, no bullsh!t coach. Why wave the Wilson flag any longer, when we all know it's like trying to make chicken soup from chicken ....!

My beef with Glass is REQUIRING students who want basketball tickets to purchase football tickets! Commie bastard!

Just returned from the big house. If anyone says Wilson has this program headed in the right direction, they are deceiving themselves. Today showed the utter lack of skill on the coach's part in teaching the skills and laying out strategy to beat a less than mediocre opponent. Examples; second quarter failed flea-flicker, third quarter, Coleman lined up at quarterback, time out In first half because offense did not get play in time to avoid delay, two hurried plays on the first series of the third quarter that resulted in two Coleman dive plays to the left that failed miserably. Let's ditch the trick plays and teach our team tackling, passing, receiving, and blocking. Michigan fans were laughing at our play calls even more than they booed their own! Please Glass, if you are reading this, spare IU the humiliation of another season with Coach Buffoon at the helm!

Do you mean like the 2014 season? Indiana state, Bowling Green, north texas, a weak Iowa, a weak Michigan, Penn State, Rutgers and Purdue. C'mon, Wilson couldn't go .500 against half of the 5a high schools in Indiana. His clock management skills are nonexistent, and he hasn't developed an offense that can perform beyond the front-liners. No more Wilson BS, time for the Hoosier nation to swallow its pride and admit hiring Mr. Oklahoma was a mistake!

The saddest thing about Wilson's tenure is having to listen to Buck and Don have to make excuses for Wilson's failures. There was a time when Don Fischer was able to call it like it was. Wilson hasn't made a difference with the 'new' defense, and his offense is weak against big time opponents. Sudfeld hasn't been proficient at passing, his absence shouldn't be as impactful as it's been as we have been touting the Hoosier running game. I fear that Wilson's play calls are becoming so predictable that opponents are reading them as easily as our offense. Time for Wilson to say GOODBYE!

Please people, wake up. Just because Wilson is our coach doesn't mean we need to keep making excuses for his poor coaching. The guy is not cutting it, and has had more time than his predecessors to achieve success, and he has failed miserably. A few wins scattered among a sea of poorly managed, humiliating defeats would not be tolerated anywhere but here. Bury your pride IU, admit you ..cked up, and fire Wilson!

The last two years have been rough, last year one winless in big ten play. Two years ago, a little better with a couple of wins in conference play. Out-of-conference, we've even struggled. Being a volleyball fan, and father of a former high school and AAU player, and having talked with IU coaches in the past, I can note a couple concerns. There is very little recruiting of players north of Muncie, players from the northern part of the state have to aggressively pursue Indiana. The top three players this year from the north are headed to Purdue, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. I know for a fact that four other top hitters have not even received contact, even though recommended to the coaching staff. Recruiting is a fluid process, players get injured, etc..., however, most recruiting is done at club events, and only among the top teams. This leaves out great performers that may not be on an exceptional club team, though their skills are superior. My concern is that the recruitment process is overly focused at trying to land the top MaxPreps stat leaders. For players whose teams don't report stats through a national reporting agency, it's a huge oversight. IU did not attend any Indiana sectional, regional, semi-state, or state championship tournament games. Hopefully, with the additional of a new asst. this year, IU will be able to recruit Indiana along with neighboring states for the future. I believe that we lack good attackers, and we currently have defenders that are playing roles that they haven't traditionally played. Liberos, and defensive specialists are generally shorter players, since they tend to be quicker to the dig, and can not attack In front of the ten foot line. Their main focus, for those unfamiliar with this, is to dig shots a funneled by blockers, pass the ball to the setter, and score at the service line. Banksy, volleyball has grown so quickly in the past five years, that I predict it will be a money maker in the very near future given a couple good seasons.
