And remember, anyone looks great coaching against Crean, even Boeheim. -
Potential coaching change suggestions

He's not coming here, nor do I believe an offer would be extended. I don't know of him personally expressing a desire to coach the Hoosiers, and it would take more that money for him to leave his current position. -
No, students are FORCED to purchase tickets if they want basketball. Don't start with 'they choose to buy them' that's bull. If the tickets were sold stand alone, the student side would be nearly empty. Glass has got more than two losers in sporting programs and has only demonstrated his ability to spend money! Hell, I could be a favorite if I spent $150 mil for sports flash on campus. Results matter, so far, no good.

Great list, I don't like the last six either. Not that they are incapable, just not the right ones now. Cross off Fife, too close to Knight firing for my taste! Whoever would have to fit well with today's crowd, but relate to the old guard, and be able to infuse some Gene Keady(hate to use his example) toughness and desire to win. -

No, better than Alford. Let's let it brew a while. I'm not going to mention his name for reasons which may be obvious later, but it is a player respected by Hoosier fans. He was a very hard working smart player from the Knight era. -

Aloha, you're right, but there are great players out there that would love to strap on the old IU, regardless. I just want kids who will work all forty, good or bad. -

Look back to the future, before Davis there was an IU name under serious consideration, but it was nixed due to outside political pressure. Former player, with experience who has strong group of coaching friends that would make up a great staff of assistants, many of them not well known outside coaching circles. IU fans would go nuts if this one came through, he would be a perfect fit. I believe the talk of Stephens is unrealistic, and as good of a coach as he is, I don't believe he has the desire to take the position if offered. All of this is moot until Crean wears out his welcome to the tune of $12 mil. -
Potential fallout from coaching change

Fred stuck his neck out with the crean contract, what else can he do? He's got to try bolster his position by refusing that he's been mistaken in trusting success to TC. -

Give up on Stevens, he's not in the mix. No superstAr coach headed this way, but a solid coach in the wings, waiting. -

If they go, will we really be worse off? No defense, drive and jump, and then look to pass? Give me a break, let's get onto establishing a whole new culture for IU basketball. One built on EFFORT, where players don't just stand around on offense until 12 left, only to go one-on-one with someone 5 inches taller and just as quick. Where coaches coach defense and are not satisfied with trading baskets on back-to-back possessions. A place where we welcome players who WANT to wear the name INDIANA on their jersey. F the spoiled brat prima donnas, let's seek out and find players with character and some semblance of a work effort. -

Excellent choice! Also, may I throw Coach Mike Lightfoot in as an assistant? Although an NAIA coach, he is an excellent defensive coach, and is a good motion offense coach. Would be of great value! -

Kieth Smart coached in the NBA for Cleveland prior to Le Bron, Golden State, and Sacremento. His records were not good, but to understand why, you have to know the context. Kieth is a transitional coach in the NBA, meant to reign in players when there is a big change coming. He is hired to try to change the culture of a team into a team attitude. Dealing with pros is difficult, but if you look at these teams post-Smart they generally perform well a year or two out. I believe that he would be excellent here because he is knowledgable, can deal with personalities, knows how to win, and understands IU. His wife is from Bloomington, so he visits frequently. Whether or not he would be willing to coach at IU, unknown, but he would be a great catch. He could also assemble a fantastic staff to help the cause. -
I'm down with taking the wrecking ball to the hall. Seating is horrible, the steepness of the balcony(suprised no one has fallen to their death) is rediculous, especially since is does little to improve ones view. Looks like a mini Memorial Stadium without the great view. Contrasted with Notre Dame's ACC, where there is no bad seat, and fans feel close to the floor, no doubt we need a better venue for basketball. As an old timer who's constantly reminded that this is not thirty years ago, let's dump this dump and start fresh. May as well start with a fresh coach, just as Assembly Hall did!

Buying tickets at the game/scalpers
87ashtonhoosier replied to IU Bud's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Tried for Michigan, not a single scalper in sight! Asked around, and it appears that IUPD is instructed to keep scalping from happening, hence the lack of tickets in the open. The box office will not allow buying up from student tickets anymore, so your only option is online, either craigslist, stubhub or others for tickets. Sorry for the bad news, but times are changin'. -
What is the remedy then?
