To add to this, does anyone really think our AD would leak a hire like this right before both impacted teams are put on TV celebrating making the NCAAT?

Folks, I personally guarantee you that Brad Brownell is not the “big wink.” His resume is barely above Kevin Keatts’s, who was just fired. Relax and enjoy us (possibly) making the tournament in 10 minutes. Nothing will be announced until Woodson is no longer HC, and right now Woodson is HC. (edited for *possibly after UNC stole a bid)

We were never going down to that level. Not after seeing Purdue almost win a championship last season.

I know, and again I’m not denying that is going to happened. What I’m saying is until the next step officially happens (with an official thank you for your service statement from the IUAD), we aren’t hearing anything else.

That’s still an official step.

I’m not suggesting that Woodson/IUAD may pivot on him leaving, but that until he is officially no longer the HC, he is currently the HC and nothing comes next before that is no longer his title.

Don’t forget that coaching is a bit of a fraternity and these guys respect each other/adhere to certain principles. One of those is you don’t take a position that is currently filled. So for next steps, do not be looking out for announcing a hire before we see an official “Mike Woodson steps down as Indiana’s coach” announcement. That’ll happen, but that’s the next milestone to look out for, not “big wink.”

Was going to wait until today but my flight was delayed four hours last night. Typed it up in the airport and hit send out of frustration at United. Edited it a bit today since some folks didn’t understand what I was trying to convey.
