Temperament is, no kidding, probably the most important single thing in this process imo. And Williams might ordinarily concern me, except for 2 factors here: 1} His 2 years with Crean and the fact that they’re still in touch. In the course of researching the job a guy probably can’t get more candid accurate feedback than he would get from Crean. 2) The last 8 years have set the next guy up to be loved if he’s good.

You read that and you don’t like that guy I’ve got nothin’ for you.
-
What that would say is that Scott believes any competent professional CBB coach can win with Indiana resources. I agree with that, but that’s not where you start. That’s where you end up.You start with the best guy you can get and in no universe is Brownell the best guy you can get. He’s not one of the 10 best. What he is is the simplest guy you can get.

I love that guy. His teams play with their hair on fire for 40 every night and even with the talent gap they just never stop competing.
-
Have heard worse ideas. Tell you what would be awesome about that: Amaker comes to Bloomington and wins a Natty. As he’s being interviewed with confetti in his hair and One Shining Moment blasting away he looks straight into the camera and tells Krzyzewski to F himself for blocking him from getting the Duke job. Would be the greatest flex ever.

Never gonna happen in Bloomington in a million years, but some AD who’s secure in his position and doesn’t care about winning the presser, maybe 1 of the 2 Florida schools, is gonna take Shaheen Holloway out of that Seton Hall NIL hellscape and in 2 or 3 years is gonna look pretty freaking smart. I know it’s his alma mater, but he’s a really good coach and that’s a really bad deal and he’s not going to stay there and get his brains beat in for 15 years because they have no money.

Seems incredibly happy at ISU. Talks borderline gushy about the place. Signed an extension, I believe, last year. Were he actually available he’d be my number 1 and maybe my 1 and only. Love him.

I swear to God, anybody busting out the “Stevens has a latent coaching itch he’s just gotta scratch” stuff ever again fully deserves the Patrick Swayze Roadhouse throat rip right then and there. Never Again
-
Welcome, Sir. And this right here is exactly why, as Hovadipo mentioned a while back, that Brad Stevens/IU would be the Dodgers of NIL.
-
In fairness, if Colin Farrell was a CBB coach he wouldn’t look like Colin Farrell, either. Probably closer to Rick Majerus.
-
Don’t get me wrong, like hearing this stuff as much as anyone, but to paraphrase Snoop from “The Wire”, they need to shut the F up. Noting good comes from them running their mouths. Not a single thing.
-
That feels like the job.
-
I had to scrape ice off my windows this morning. I don’t care if Stevens comes or not, you’ve already won.
-
Yup. There still seems to be this perception that it’s not a big-time job. It’s a BIG-TIME JOB. If McDermott were to leave for any reason they would have a great list of candidates.
-
Had not. Very cool. Shot it off to daughter #1 who loves her some Aussie punk and she hadn’t heard them either. She also fired back an all-girl band she recently came across called VOIID that she thinks could be a thing in that world.

Your 1st shank.

You don’t find it interesting that Hubie Brown “retired” from TNT just this week?

https://www.nfl.com/news/full-list-of-prospects-invited-to-2025-nfl-scouting-combine?campaign=Twitter_nfl_cfb The full list. Rourke also participating.

Agree. The 30 sec shot clock era combined with the number of 3pt shooters now has made pace of play pretty irrelevant. 55 possession games are slow games now, really slow, but late 80’s when it was 45 secs, Jesus, 45 possession games weren’t uncommon and it was pretty nasty, particularly if you were trying to scout some game that ended 48-45.
-
Don’t know about that part, but it’s time for them/him to move on. McCaffery has proven for like 10 years what his ceiling is and now he’s probably no longer reaching that level. A year ago they could have had DeVries.
-
That’s the one thing I’m absolutely not worried about. Dolson would have known 11 months ago that where we are now was well within range of outcomes. I can’t imagine he hasn’t spent that time profiling what they want, researching at least some obvious candidates and developing a hiring process that he could just flip a switch on. Anyone he would presumably have interest in other than Stevens has at least 6 more weeks of their season left. So, if it’s not Stevens, and count me in the I’ll believe it when he’s at a presser in AH and not before camp, this is gonna go on for probably 8 weeks, minimum.
-
Will always the respect him for just openly lobbying for the job when Crean got it. He knew the Wright State HC was never getting an elite gig and he saw a chance to cut in line on the job no one wanted to touch. But, yeah, he might be actually the replacement-level high major HC. 1 thing for sure, if Scott’s introducing Brownell he certainly didn’t get his Guy. Or several other guys.
-
For sure. I don’t love the idea of a guy in his 60’s, but if they think he’s a 10 yer solution the guy’s elite.
-
How the hell did I miss this guy? Terry Reid is a British singer/guitarist who’s been around since the 60’s who I’d never heard of until about 12hrs ago. Apparently, nice piece of trivia, he was Jimmy Page’s 1st choice to front Zeppelin. What a great freaking singer. Power. Nuance. Great emotion. Listened to about an hour of him today and the guy’s bada$$.

Oh, yeah. Fandom abhors a vacuum and once the Woody thing broke early, random meaningless coaching speculation is as good as it gets. Though you really do need an IU level of insanity. I doubt the OSU boards went up in flames when Holtmann went away.
