Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
Five Prime replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
On paper, this looks like a legitimate top 6 in the Big 10 type roster. I didn't think IU had it in them to get this talent in the door. Props to Dolson, Devries, and Carr. Also much gratitude to the NIL donors. After years (decades?) of mediocrity, its impressive to still have this much support. The big task now is making all the peices fit. Cautiously optimistic, but IU basketball is still in the "show me first" category. -

We may very well end up with 2 or 3 off the top of our board, but we also have to understand how these transfers leverage school interest. Everyone knows we are desperate and will pay reasonably well, so agents garner IU interest and drive up the asking price. -
Need! Throw money at this kid

In an alternate timeline Woodson is fired a year earlier, IU hires Dusty May, IU proceeds to miss the tournament in his first 2 years, and the "fire Dusty May" thread is popping.

I'm looking forward to hearing the spin after IU inevitably signs a 20-something ranked transfer class. -
I don't live in Indiana anymore. Do people even talk about IU bball now or is it an afterthought?

IU could hire any coach they want, and at this point, I wouldn't expect much different results.

Agree with this sentiment. The pressure and expectations for IU football pre 2024 were essentially zero. The pressure and often times unrealistic expectations for IU bball are sky high despite 20 years of mediocrity. Potential head coaches understand this well. It makes the job at IU quite risky and potentially career defining.
