  1. It doesnt change the fact that most of the fan base lives in la-la land.
  2. So is that because Devries isnt a good coach but all those other guys are?
  3. My argument is a simple one: Poor decision making by IU leadership + unrealistic fan expectations = toxic culture to coach Fan expectations for Creans first few years were tempered by extraneous circumstances. The poor leadership was the same.
  4. We are lost in the desert wilderness for nearly 40 years being supported by mana from Bob Knight heaven.
  5. Different era, different circumstances. Fan base has already shown cracks with Devries support.
  6. And yet, after an 18-14 first season (literally IUs average season over the last 2 decades), some fans are ready to move on...I'm not disagreeing with anything you've said, but the fan base will not be patient. AND... how can we trust IUs leadership to get the next hire right?
  7. I'm going to go back to hate watching Purdue. Miami actually looks like the better team, though Purdues experience may end up being enough to pull this out.
  8. We have a fan base living in the 90s, an inept administration, and borderline toxic culture. Cignetti success just puts that much more pressure on any IU bball coach
  9. I am definitely not a diehard TC fan, but if you look at the data, we actually havr been worse without him. And this simply supports the notion that "its more than coaching"
  10. I didnt say we should have kept Tom Crean. I simply said our fan base expectations ran him out of town, but in retrospect he had the most success of any IU bball coach since Knight.
  11. Over the last 20 years IU has averaged a 19-14 record. Keep in mind there have been 6 coaches during this timeframe.
  12. I appreciate the cherry picking of data to try to back your narrative of "its just poor coaching". Obviously, its much more than that.
  13. Its not the fan base, its everything; administration, AD, coaching, fan expectations...literally everything except money is working against any head coach that takes this job.
  14. No it's not. Crean was run out of town despite having big 10 champs and sweet 16 appearances.
  15. Agree with this sentiment. The pressure and expectations for IU football pre 2024 were essentially zero. The pressure and often times unrealistic expectations for IU bball are sky high despite 20 years of mediocrity. Potential head coaches understand this well. It makes the job at IU quite risky and potentially career defining.
  16. Actually, if you do the math, IUs average record over the last 20 years is 19-14. So this season was an average season for IU bball. Pretty sad stuff.
  17. We all want to blame the coach, understandably so. But if you look at the yearly records over the last 20 years, 18-14 is sort of what IU has been.
  18. If Wes Miller gets fired, throw out an offer Thiam can't refuse
  19. The roster deficiencies were obvious from the start of the season. If someone wanted to waste a lot of time, skimming the game threads from some of the pre-conference games against P4 teams would surely reveal thematic concerns. Concerns centered around athleticism, perimeter defense, and rebounding. On the plus side, the shooting was better than recent seasons.
  20. I said nothing of their personal lives. You are just making stuff up now. You think they are above criticism, I dont. Lets disagree and move on.
  21. Sounds like a lot of excuses. The minute college athletes started making big money and transferring in unrestricted free agency, they sacrificed the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this.
  22. Kids who make 1.5 million dollars to play a game. Should the CEO of a failing mid-size company (roughly similar annual salary) be above criticism because of feelings? And they arent kids BTW. They make money, pay taxes, vote, own cars and homes. They are young, but they are adults.
  23. I'm no expert, but there seems to be a little too much faith from the fan base that Carr will be the difference.
