  1. They are the farthest things from up and comers, hot items...
  2. Well, to paraphrase a family member of a former player, "Crean is threatened by people that know more than him so he would never hire a truly competent staff" They may all be former head coaches but they weren't successful head coaches. Crean has been a head coach for 19 years and has little to show for it in regards to his assistants becoming successful
  3. you are as guilty as any here, but I don't think that is bad or wrong. I see you playing devils advocate now but that position is against everything you know to be true. The kids are taught to play fast fast fast and when fast doesn't work we are clueless. 9 years worth of teams under Crean and still nobody knows how to feed the post. It's insanity
  4. Agreed, the talent on our team is without a doubt top 15, they just don't play like it
  5. I wish I had more faith in the administration to both, get rid of Crean and find the right replacement. My worry is that we get one or neither
  6. We were. According to kenpom and soon to be likely Vegas as well, this is what we should now expect for this season
  7. We are projected to finish 9-9 in conference and 19-12 on the season... I would hope that is enough to sever ties finally
  8. Did you get that feeling from your source?
  9. the state of Indiana has collectively whipped Crean's ass.
  10. Need to go higher than AD office
  11. I'm not going to go as far as some regarding Glass but I would say things have been turbulent at best under his tenure. Lots of coaching turnover, under-achieving sports that are traditional powerhouses...
  12. As good as a hire I think Stevens would be, I think there are many guys out there that could do as well. He was good but I have my reservations that he is as good as some talk like he is. I think he would satisfy just about every fan but there are others that might not make just about every fan happy at day one but would get the job done just fine.
  13. What makes for a "home run" hire? Is there any doubt a guy like Mack couldn't do as well or better than Crean? There are many Mack's out there, just using him as an example. We are top 10 in every category that is of interest to a coach: history, salary, fanbase, facilities etc. compare those things to the Xavier's, Butlers etc and tell me that with those things on their side, they wouldn't do as well or better than Crean. They are already on par with much less support. This isn't a 1 man or bust thing. There are at least 10 guys out there that are performing as well as Crean at schools that offer very little to coaches, players, fans and recruits... So what is the big concern about, I only see upside, worst case we get more of the same
  14. Didn't show up for me, what did it say?
  15. thought we were talking about grammar...
  16. i think that's the point:) a lot of die hard fans are no longer die hard fans. He is losing more and more fandom each year
  17. unless you know this from glass and the athletic department I would have to disagree. They are not 100% content and have looked around. They aren't at the point of firing just to fire but that doesn't mean they won't look further and find someone they are comfortable with and move forward. Crean has done a B job so it isn't easy or a no brainer to move on, they need an A replacement which might come this is coking from another coach at IU. They are not 100% tied to Crean but it would take a lot to move forward with his removal
  18. When I think of Crean I can't help but compare him to Tubby when he was at UK. In his 10 seasons there he never missed the tourney, never lost in the round of 64, went to the round of 32 4x, 16 2x, 8 3x and a championship = fired. We would be over the moon to get those results from Crean.
  19. yes, a Crystal ball for this board would be awesome!
  20. Glass has a tough job when it comes to Crean. Crean has done a lot of good but meanwhile has destroyed relationships in this state and always seems to fall a bit short when it counts. He wins enough to keep us relevant and keep IU fans hopeful but not sure we will ever see sustained, elite success from him and that is what many of us fans are looking for. This was just one game but it's kind of become expected by now. Should become a betting man and at least make some money on his predictability - bet on on IU at home no matter what, lose on the road to ranked teams and lose to slow paced, well coached, methodical teams.
  21. i think we are mostly saying the same thing but it is important to note, we have not been serious contenders on many of the top 4 and 5 star Indiana kids as of late. Any time we can make a kids final 3 like Wilkes, I don't think that is a waste of time even if we were perceived as an under dog. It's where we don't recruit a kid because he has no interest in IU from the start or where we chase for a year or two only not even to make initial cuts is the disappointing stuff. To have top Indiana kids have little to no interest is not ok. To get over the hump we need to do more to mend relationships in our state and get the majority of kids to be interested. It will never be 100% but the majority should want to hear from Indiana and be excited to have interest or an offer from us and that isn't the case enough. To have kids like Langford potentially having no interest is nuts. If it were just him that would be one thing but there have been too many that have written us off
  22. I don't think we should chase kids that are a waste of time just for perception purposes but we should be a contender for most Indiana kids, so since we are not right now then we need to do everything to change that. That primarily come down to relationships. We need to form them or bring in someone that already has them
  23. It certainly would appear we don't have a lockdown state of Indiana recruiter on our Indiana university staff, which doesn't make sense to me. Should be a huge priority
  24. Don't want that because that means he leaves after 1 year. To date, I would say Oladipo and OG are 1&2 and OG is likely gone after this year if he can stay healthy
