  1. Time and date? What about the planned press conference scheduled with FoxSports? Speaking from over 20 years of experience on the later, there is zero chance that is set like that. Zero. not saying it couldn’t happen, but that it would not be set this far in advance and if it was the network would have to know the context/why and validate it being important enough to break in or override a scheduled program. If they did, it would leak in about 1 second. if there is any shred of legitimacy to it I will text/dig into it a bit but too embarrassed to even ask anyone at this point
  2. Forgive me if I missed it, but why did he tell Goodman that he was not a candidate for the IU job?
  3. I enjoy your posts. But I did reply to a post shutting down talk about a coach that wasn’t Brad where it said not to bring that coach up. That isn’t the only post of that nature. it wasn’t my post that was being shut down but I do understand the frustration of many here around this topic. I strongly believe based on info that was shared with me that the original search 4 years ago was botched in many ways and it wasn’t the BOT like many here claim it to be. those same people from 4 years ago are pushing the same thing again and folks are able to buy into that again but all signs again point to us needing to look elsewhere and I would like to have those discussions here.
  4. It’s the opposite though. This is the general coach candidate news thread and it is dominated by talk about 1 non candidate and attempts for others to have other discussions are being shut down. i haven’t criticized anyone on here, i just have empathy for those that come here to get general coach candidate news and aren’t able to do that because of the Stevens army that has developed and wanted to snuff out all other talk.
  5. But Stevens to IU does apparently? This is the double standard that has developed on this board lately that has caused division. Free world, free board, Pearl, Beard, Stevens, May etc etc should all be open for discussion, not just one non candidate
  6. He knows he was fired. We can call it whatever we want to help with the exit package but it was a firing and everyone knows rhat
  7. Does Dolson know what Stevens reasons would be to say no this time and if he does, what are they and what is he doing to overcome them?
  8. He might have Stevens locked up but I don’t think so. That definitive type of statement doesn’t sit well with me, that same language was used 4 years ago too. It’s one thing to say I think or I was told but to say it so matter of factly when proven to have been wrong in the past is tough
  9. That’s great intel. Paraphrasing but when asked what else do you have for us when Stevens was eliminated, he didn’t give anyone around him much confidence that he had anything else in a good place. That was enough to get the Woody discussion moving. So I’m not surprised that 4 days later things had progressed there. In all reality it would have just taken 1 phone call
  10. Numbers could have been discussed, that doesn’t mean anything. They were discussed last time too
  11. I think the only difference between your account and mine is that Scott only got one swing at the plate. It’s my belief that Scott was given the opportunity to find his guy and was unable to after a significant amount of time which opened the door for Quin to get it done. do you recall the date/how long after Archie was fired that Quin flew out to offer Woodson? I believe it was quite a bit after which supports the account that Dolson was given ample time to deliver before plan ZZ was enacted
  12. Dolson had been working on Stevens way before Archie was fired and thought he had him and didn’t put in enough leg work elsewhere. to put things into perspective, UK vetted over 5 candidates, hired pope and announced it in 3 days. Dolson spent wayyyyyy longer than that just thumbing around with Stevens alone. It was 2 weeks post Archie’s official firing that we landed on Woodson of all people
  13. It was. I’ve stated this many times here so my apologies for repeating but this is a fact. Dolson had never led a big search before and dialed in on a few people, mostly Stevens and swung and missed. Swinging and missing is ok but having it drag out for so long and when he missed didn’t have a lot of great backups. that led to Quin saying “I’ve got this now” and pushing Woodson on everyone. He had a long time to prep and mismanaged the situation. There are a lot of pro Dolson supporters here that don’t like that but it’s true and came from someone very much involved in the matter
  14. Kinda, Dolson talked to a few others but was really dialed in on Steven’s and it bit us all in the butt
  15. Welcome back, I come here to get different perspectives and always appreciated yours
  16. Crazy that milehi and Craighoops are both gone. I was curious what happened to GoColts/OldFriend. He and I had it out a few times but enjoyed his posts nonetheless. is he still around?
  17. What a great topic! It made me realize I have a horrible memory. I recall Scout, HSN and have been almost exclusively on BTB for the past 10 years as MikeRoberts and sometimes KathywithaC
  18. That is in part what went wrong. Discussions about numbers isn’t necessarily a closing sign and Dolson believed that it was and that throwing big numbers at him would change the fact that his family was never on board. It was never going to happen and we wasted a lot of time and indirectly led to us hiring Woodson. Dolson not understanding the situation caused a lot of people to move/react/get involved and there was never a need for any of it.
  19. Thanks for the info. If I’m tracking, Brad is plan A, May is plan B or beyond. May has all the leverage in the world to negotiate with Michigan right now but he will not do that because he wants to roll the dice in the chance that interest and focus from IU falls to him? is that realistic?
  20. It’s his style, period. It’s not a personal issue. He has always played at a snails pace. He wins, I googled him, but his style is not appealing to fans and I imagine it wouldn’t be for top ranked players
  21. I’m intrigued because the guy is a winner. What he did in D2 is awesome and what he has done this year is as well. my issues are style of play and it not being fun to watch nor play in. If he won 30 game a year at IU I would overlook the paint drying. My fear beyond me being bored is that top talent would not want to play that way. I think if we are all being honest, he would need to land top 3, 4 and 5 star talent to succeed at this level and I just don’t see it. If I’m a blue chip talent I don’t want to do THAT
  22. How is it different? That is exactly what I’ve compared it to. I feel like I’m watching 1930s peach basket basketball or something. Slow, pumpfake, pass, slow, pumpfake, pass
  23. I have watched them a lot because I have been interested in seeing his style and whether I would want him to coach at IU. They pass up fast breaks and open shots over and over and over. It’s brutal to watch
  24. Deliberate is a fun way of saying “slowest pace in the country”. No thanks. We watch basketball to be entertained and holding the ball for what feels like an eternity each possession isn’t fun to watch
  25. He would have to dominate for that to be widely accepted. If you aren’t winning big and you are putting up 50 points a game that would be painful to watch
