  1. How can Trey have over 17 minutes and no other stats?
  2. Many people are saying that I had a lot to do with Friday's win over BC Mega. But, I am way too humble. But, it was with my leadership, support and ability to score that IU men's basketball team went undefeated in '76-77...the year I graduated from IU-B and got married to my IU sweetheart. I sure scored a lot that year. Trying to keep it going this year to help the team...you know what I mean...nudge, nudge... Tip of ole toupee to: TJD; Tamar; Race; Kopp; Jordan; Parker; Rob; Xavier; Landers; and crew and last but not least Coach Woodson. Watched on Twt the videos of the first half as they were playing. Thanks mucho for that. But was difficult for me to see plays develop. Laughed at the audio. I wanted to study the PG situation...but really didn't get a grasp on it. What I want to see: Rob Phin needs to hit shots...please oh mighty Gawd of the Basketball Games...please touch Rob and make him a can't miss shooter. I want to see Landers excel. I want to see more of Tamar...and him helping to lead the team. May TJD always be a great player in all aspects...and may he be healthy...no fouls in the first game for TJD...really? Nice! Race hitting from 18 foot out and at least one 3 a game would be wonderful. Assists, effective playmaking, rebounds, movement on offense...yes. Gotta hit over 70% of the FTs. What do you fans think of the PGs? I did predict that IU would get 7 3's in the first game. I thought it would take 2 more attempts than it did. So I predict that IU will get 9 3's in todays game...in 21 attempts. And FTs will improve. Landers will see more PT. As will Parker. Jordan with all those offensive rebounds is a great glue guy.
  3. Watched the first half on Twitter. Appreciate the feed, but, was very hard to perceive. Appreciate the effort. Go Hoosiers.
  4. Indiana University basketball team is still undefeated this season! Tied for the lead in the B1G, Indiana's Head Basketball Coach Mike Woodson can already do the following: 1. Not make a fool of himself in front of a TV camera; 2. Keep his pants in place without having to pull them up every time he turns around; 3. Knows that getting quality recruits that can hit the 3 is a key to winning in the NCAA and the B1G; 4. Doesn't chew gum as a good luck charm; 5. Appreciates this history of the Hoosier's Men's Basketball at Indiana University; 6. Has given each of us lots of hope and is putting Indiana Basketball back on the National scene just when we needed it. Learn a lot about the team today, guys. And keep us posted. And condiments to Hovadipo for lotsa stuff.
  5. According to ITH Durr & Duncomb will not be playing in the Bahamas. No further information was provided. Back to the Future: TJD, Race, and Kopp? I am starting on my Old Grandad 114 a little early. I do understand why this exhibition game is not going to be televised or streamed. It really is a green coaching debut for CMW and for the 4:1. If I were the coach, I sure wouldn't want anyone to see these games...the honeymoon would be over too soon. Let's bet on how many 3's are shot and how many are made by this crew. I guess 22 are attempted and 7 are made. I need to take a shot. Put me in coach...I'm ready to play, today!
  6. Agreed! Maybe the B1G TEN might suggest that. /s
  7. Just listened, again, to Sick and Tired by Cross Canadian Ragweed...and I started sneezing. /s Well, I am allergic to a lot of country music. That is unless i have some 'shine' and Texas barbeque going down. So, I will stick with my Texas Blues and Chicago Blues and steel drums and hammered dulcimer and juice harp and Kenny Wayne Shepard and Black Keys and Nova Scotia/French Gypsy Jazz (ie Gypsophilia @ Montreal Jazz Festival 2015)...if and only if the lead can do handstands and kicks during a live show...
  8. CCR had some fun songs: It Came Out Of The Sky; Lookin' Out My Backdoor. Disturbing songs: Midnight Special; Who Will Stop The Rain; I Put a Spell On You; and you have to listen to Effigy. And a lot of just great rock/blues/swamp/garage/etc....looking forward to listening to Fogerty and sons live! What a great summer! Returning to Evansville to see family...and go to the free W C Hardy Blues Festival in Henderson on Saturday. Beer, Bar B Q, Blues, family, friends...outside!
  9. John Fogerty is at The Rose, Huber Heights (near Dayton OH), July 16. Presale on Ticketmaster today in an hour and a half. Anyone see his show 50 years since Woodstock? Saw glowing reviews 2 weeks ago at Red Rock. Creedence Clearwater Revival was one of my go to bands. Swamp rock: Suzie Q, Proud Mary, Fortunate Son, Who Will Stop the Rain, ... Centerfield... Venue is covered and open sides...great place..parking adjacent ...free if with tickets. Box Office is only open midday Fridays. I live 3 miles away. Also seeing Brit Floyd (Pink Floyd tribute band), Chicago, ... Rock On!
  10. This is such a subjective matter. There are all sorts of things that may swing the "worth" or value of a dunk over 2 free throws. Such as situational issues. A dunk may be better during for momentum or to get the crowd pumped. Free throws may be better because a defender stopped a play as time is winding down and cool -rational play is appropriate. One also may have been looking at just the score and not the momentum issues. Maybe the dunk was more risky than the two free throws. The situation may dictate which would have had more of the ancillary 'benefit'. Personally, being 5' 8" tall and unlikely to dunk...definitely MY dunk would be more spectacular! (and risky?)
  11. Watched it. Very clear and helpful. Love the concept of keeping the defense occupied with the exchanges. Versus that stagnant offense of CAM. Thanks.
  12. I reluctantly agree with btownqb that Lander is a focus in the hypothetical. Even if Lander could live up to his 5* billing doesn't necessarily mean that he would be an excellent B1G point guard this season. Plus, IU doesn't play against hypothetically very good B1G opponents. The other teams are reloading etc. And, the bench comes in to play. Are they going to step up when the starters need a breather? What is CMW's offense and defense going to look like in the first year? Can IU defend the really big center in the B1G? Can IU take advantage of the matchups that go small or throw a zone at IU or get really physical or own their courts? Will this team come together and mesh? I'd say with the original poster's hypothetical this team could make it into the top 3 in the conference and competing for the championship of the B1G and the downside would be in the top 7. The NCAAT would depend on seeding, matchups and whether IU executes or the other team does. They would do well, I guess. And no, they would not run the table.
  13. It seems that Mike Roberts had moved from the coaching staff to an administrative job working for Dolson not Woodson. So as far as the coaching staff, it is already set. Roberts leaving may have been anticipated by Indiana.
  14. I have been hoping that Rob Phinesee will break out and become a great offensive asset for Indiana. I still hope that. But I don't see it happening. Because he has had that opportunity and it hasn't happened. Indiana basketball really needs a great point guard. Lander might just do it. His freshman year is behind him. Is he gaining strength? Will he have less turnovers? Will his shooting improve? Well, yeah! How about TJD? Will his inside game improve now that Indiana is spacing better and hitting 3's? Will he use his right hand? Will he have a decent jump shot? Will he gain some muscle and be able to push others around? Will he stop with the soft roll off of the fingers about 3' from the rim? Well, yeah! Will those players on the perimeter not let the other team get that quick step around them towards the basket? Will they start hitting 3's at a much better clip? Will everyone improve their free throws? And improve overall defense? I think that they all will improve... Spoiler Alert: The person who will make the most improvements this year is... Coach Woodson! (And the whole team as a team will be improved!) Clearly! He was a great player way back when. He is going to make a bigger impact on Indiana now.
  15. Sure, Brunk was older...a leader we think...and he was big. But he wasn't super mobile. Did the metrics show that the team was better with him when TJD or Race were out? What was all the hedging about out near the free throw line? Free throws were not good. Scoring wasn't great. Coach MW may have said that IU was looking to have just one inside. Between TJD, Race and big newcomer D who needs the game minutes...Brunk wouldn't get much in the uptempo game. Sad but true. Brunk and tOSU coach go way back. Better for him to be there. Hope that he gets lots of PT at tOSU and IU beats the heck out of them. They will be slower with him. Thanks for being here. Hope your health is better. Next man up.
  16. Sorry. I have no idea. I almost never go near anything UK. I won't even go on a bourbon tour that goes anywhere near that place. (Although I have been to Rupp to cheer on IU in the NCAAT.) And I have to admit, the Kentucky fans were very gracious and actually cheered IU when Duke lost. This just was listed when i Googled Brooks. Didn't vet the site. No dog in this hunt either. Have mixed feelings about all of this. Coaches have tough jobs but they are paid way too much for the grief. And it has to be gut-wrenching for the student/athletes, their families and friends. I don't blame anyone for going to a program away from the home state. Lots of reasons might justify those decisions. Didn't say I liked the idea though. Except in this case, it is UK. Ugh. That's almost as bad as going to W. Laffy.

  18. Keeping recruits because of APR doesn't seem to make sense. But, today on this thread, I have not seen anyone say that. I know that I said he had to keep the recruits. And, I said that APR may have been a contributing factor about keeping players. Not the same issue. I know that I didn't say that APR was the reason for keeping recruits.
  19. No. Once again you cherry pick and ignore the whole discussion. The above was a response to you saying that you did not believe that the APR was an issue. I did not say that APR was why Archie failed. I said there were many factors that contributed to it. But, it was still his responsibility to win. Your agenda is showing again. I do agree that Archie had to go. But he didn't fail relative to the APR like Crean was. He didn't leave the cupboard bare like others have. He just didn't win enough and had lost the team. Very significant those are definitely.
  20. Since you do not believe it to be true....here is an article that discusses the APR deterioration under Crean. The 4 year average required by the NCAA is 930. IU's was going down in Crean's last 4 years. It was the 2nd lowest in the B1G at 938. Crean's last year was 920. https://www.insidethehall.com/2018/05/23/iu-basketball-sees-multi-year-apr-score-fall-for-third-straight-year/
  21. The APR is just one of the issues that was there. It seemed to exist. I also do not know beyond a shadow of a doubt. It is not refutable by facts that you present. Those are somewhat circumstantial. Plus, the released recruits do not hit the APR. And you ignore the fact that if he had done that, late in the recruiting period, then the cupboard would have been even more depleted. You ignore the injuries, you ignore the recruiting inside of the state issue. You ignore the support to the staff that Dolson obviously is doing to supplement CMW. That did not happen for Archie Miller's staff. Not so much excuses as everything is not dependent solely on the coach. The coach has to be put in the position to take advantage of the situations. Glass didn't give Archie Miller a boost like Dolson is giving CMW. But, clearly, Archie Miller didn't perform up to IU's standards. But IU is not on probation. IU is in good shape APR wise. IU's cupboard was not bare. And the in-state recruiting is not broken like Crean left it.
  22. I did not have Archie Miller in my top 4 prospective coach hires. But, I did think that he would get a look. And I was pleasantly surprised that he was hired. Thought he was a better fit for IU than any of the previous coaches since RMK. Heck, his teams beat Syracuse and OSU etc in the NCAAT. His teams played like teams. Improved throughout the year. Sure, it was Dayton. But, he turned Dayton into a winner after Brian Gregory. The cupboard was left bare. He left Dayton in a very good position. Defense worked at Dayton. He had very good ballers. They dove for the loose balls. But, that didn't work at IU. Was it Archie Miller's coaching? Well, he is responsible, right? It couldn't be that he couldn't turn IU around because of the crap handed to him by Crean and Glass. Miller never did get a good PG to initiate his offense. That is on Miller. Miller never got the team to play like a team...integrating Romeo into the idea of sharing the ball and playing as a team did not happen. That lack of getting IU a new culture did not work. That is on Miller, too. The injury card could be played. Rob P getting his head banged...never really came back to what was envisioned when he was a freshman. Romeo's hand, Brunk's back, Al's ankle, Armaan's ankle...just to mention a few. But injuries hit all teams, right? But, isn't some of the problem on Glass and the inability to get rid of players because of the grades issues? So, the players kept good grades, and there was a reloading going on. The latter was way too slow. Especially after the extension that Glass gave Crean. Miller had to go. He had lost the team and the momentum in recruiting. I wouldn't give his hire and his performance F's. The hire, maybe a C. His performance maybe a C- or a D+. IU settled on Archie Miller...seems IU could not attract the best coaches. Things have changed with Dolson at the top. IU seems to have a vision...for the future...and keeping IU's basketball history, now with CMW. NBA-style is being implemented...with IU's banners held up for all to see. But, the push on expanding recruiting beyond the boarders of the state is different. It wasn't all Archie's fault. But he did have to go. It was past time.
  23. Very good discussion lately in this thread about the abilities of the point guard for IU. To me, it is the biggest question. Rob P is the experienced PG for IU. But the fact is that it hasn't really been ideal. The questions surrounding Rob P are pertinent. Is he really a combo guard? Will Lander, thank goodness he is here, step into the PG position and begin to hit, and not turn over the ball? Will Xavier J, as a combo guard, be capable and not turn over the ball like he has when he has been asked to be the ball handler for the team? Will Phin begin to recover his oomph and quickness and shot and etc.? Well, the very exciting thing is that there are many options there. All of them need some development, repetition, and prime time on court action with this team. One of them will excel. Others will complement and/or compete. That is exciting. Interested in following this group of IU players. 4 new significant players: XJ, PS, TB, and MK. Competition for the starting 5 just got serious.
  24. My antenna was letting me know something might have been happening. Really thought that I had read something within the last couple days that he had gotten an offer. But was searching for it and this news hit. Really liked his stats. Really liked what Jerry Meyer wrote about him recently. Seems to be just what IU needed. A shooter that really is talented and quick and long. He also referred to IU's Bobby Knight. I'm excited for the future.
